Lore
Born to parents employed by the Mealvaan's Gate customs house, Alka Zolka grew into a youth with a refined appreciation for reading. Surrounded by the unlettered children of fishermen and sailors however, his love for books was often mocked as the pointless pastime of a weakling landlubber. Fueled by indignation and determined to prove that strategy trumps brute force, Alka presented himself as an aspirant to the Marauder's Guild upon his sixteenth nameday. Though his peers within the guild held his intellectual pursuits in equally low regard, he weathered their jeering insults with unyielding stoicism. Alka had learned of the military tactics of Nym from an ancient tablet, and knew that if he could but recreate their wisdom, he would wield a weapon greater than any reaver's axe.

Alka reached out to the Arcanist's Guild in the hopes that he would be able to recreate the military formation used by the Nym to learn what he could about its strategic prowess. Joined by the Warrior of Light, he put the strategy to the test against a group of bandits. Upon defeating them, he discovered a Soul Crystal, which he gave to the Warrior of Light. The Soul Crystal resonated with them, blessing them with a faerie of their own. Alka asked the Warrior of Light to continue training and learn to work with the faerie.

After spotting a massive Tonberry, Alka Zolka, the Warrior of Light and a few other Marauders gave chase, planning to slay it. They were led to The Wanderer's Palace. Before Alka could land the finishing blow, the Warrior of Light's faerie stopped him. The Tonberry regained his composure after soothing the rancor in his heart, and introduced himself as Surito Carito, an ancient Nymian who had been cursed with the Green Death. He thanked the Warrior of Light and noted that they held his Soul Crystal. He named the Warrior as a worthy heir, and passed his knowledge onto them.

Sometime later, Alka Zolka reached out to the Warrior of Light, telling them the Green Death had begun to spread again, and he needed help creating a ward to quarantine the infected, then work on a cure. Surito explained how the virus had appeared in Nym after some sailors had returned from a strange island with an ampoule.

Alka helped recover the ampoule, on which Surito discovered a binding sigil used by the Mhachi people. Realizing that they must have given it to the sailors and attached a Voidsent to it, he concluded that the voidsent may still be alive and hidden somewhere. Alka Zolka and the Warrior of Light work together with Surito to determine how they can track it down.

Eventually it is revealed that the Voidsent could be tracked by the faerie, Lily. The Warrior of Light and Alka track the voidsent named Bitoso to Camp Bronze Lake and slay it, stopping it from continuing to feed of the Aether of soldiers. Stopping the source of the plague, they begin working on a cure.

While Surito was working on the cure, he called upon Alka and the Warrior of Light to help find his protege, Setoto Seto. When they tracked her down, she revealed that she was looking for her father's belongings. Alka assisted her in locating her father's things in Amdapor Keep, uncovering his Grimoire, robes, and his Soul Crystal. When Setoto attempted to call upon her father's faerie, Lilac, she collapsed, her aether taken by a dark orb that emerged from the stone, which took off away from the Keep.

Bringing Setoto back to camp, Alka, the Warrior of Light and a Wood Wailer named Landenel set off tracking the faerie, eventually discovering it at The Lost City of Amdapor. Eventually tracking the faerie to the fallen Kuribu, merging with it. Upon defeating it, a large red gem fell from its chest. With the faerie defeated, Setoto's aether was returned to her.

Taking the stone to Surito, he revealed that it was a crystal of concentrated White Magic. After Alka explained what had transpired, he posited that Lilac must have held the aether and desires of Setoto's father, wanting her to recover. Setoto took the crystal and began studying it so that he may craft a cure for the Green Death.

After much time and studying, Alka and Surito finally developed a cure. After reaching out to the Warrior of Light, they came together to use the crystal to return Setoto to her original Lalafell form. In a fit of excitement following her recovery from the Green Death, Alka rushed off, desiring to train harder.
Mark Bills
Players will find a Hunt Board at each Grand Company headquarters, upon which Mark Bills have been posted listing bounties for various enemies. There are two types of mark bills: Regular Mark Bills, which are posted once per day, and Elite Mark Bills, which are posted once per week. These bills list the name and number of targets to be hunted, their location, and the reward being offered for their defeat.

*The targets listed on regular and elite marked bills will differ from player to player.
*Mark Bill targets will have a special icon over their name:

Elite Mark Bills task the players to kill a Rank B Elite Mark. By killing the B mark, a player is awarded 5000 gil and 100 Allied Seals.

While Regular Marks denote enemies commonly found in overworld zones, Elite Marks denote powerful enemies that only appear under certain conditions. <span>B-Ranks offer no direct reward. Players can hunt them for the Weekly Elite Mark Bill, which will reward 100 of that expansion's hunt currency and 5000 gil. <span>A-Ranks offer rewards to players if they have completed the appropriate side quests to unlock the hunt for that expansion. They reward a pitiful amount of experience. The respawn time will start when the mark is killed. A-Ranks are aggressive and so have the tier 4 red triangle next to their name. aggressive</span>

S Ranks require specific conditions to occur to spawn. To view a list of conditions check the Elite Marks page. S-Ranks can be identified by the same red mark as A-ranks and a message in chat that says <code>You sense the presence of a powerful mark...</code>.

When an S-Rank is killed in Shadowbringers, Endwalker, or Dawntrail it has the potential to spawn an SS-Rank

SS-Ranks
SS-Ranks, or "Extraordinarily Powerful Marks," have the same symbol as S-Rank as well as <code>You sense the presence of an extraordinarily powerful mark...</code> in the chat. However, they are only spawned after an S-Rank in Shadowbringers or later is killed. There is an RNG chance when such an S-Rank is killed that it will spawn minions. If minions spawn, <code>The minions of an extraordinarily powerful mark are on the hunt for prey.</code> will appear in the chat. These minions will appear in 4 corners of the map the S-Rank died in: North-East, North-West, South-East, South-West. If the minions are all killed within 5 minutes, an SS-rank will spawn, which offers more rewards than an S-Rank

Spawn Points
There are a limited number of spawn points a Hunt Mark can spawn on a map. A spawn point cannot be shared between marks. The spawn point of a mark is pre-selected on death of the mark. Therefore, even if a specific rank is down, another mark will not be able to spawn in the selected spot. IE: If an S-Rank is not currently alive, a B-rank will not be able to select it's pre-selected spawn point to spawn in. This can be used to deduce an S-rank's spawn location by process of elimination (via the quickly reswpawning B-rank).

Rewards
Receiving Rewards
Hunt mark rewards are based on enmity of the player, not damage dealt. The enmity of the entire party is combined, so forming 8-player Full Parties is often essential to receive full rewards. Players must also have completed the quests for feature (allied seal Allied Seals), feature (centurio seal Centurio Seals), and feature (sack of nuts Sacks of Nuts) to receive those currencies. You must kill the mark on a level-capped Job to receive Allagan Tomestones other than Poetics Poetics.

A Realm Reborn
Both regular and elite bills list a bounty for their indicated marks. This bounty will be paid in full once the marks have been slain.
Achievements
Main article: The Hunt Achievements.

The Hunt is associated with several achievements.

Resources
Most datacenters maintain a Discord server for coordinating and announcing what the players call "Hunt trains" as well as relaying S-rank sightings. During a train, players will party up (usually via Party Finder) and teleport from zone to zone killing all of the A-rank marks in a given expansion in rapid succession. This will earn 120/240 of the current Allagan Tomestones, Poetics 360 Poetics, and 480 of that expansion's hunt currency... if all twelve marks are available.

However, if the marks have been "poached" or "sniped", meaning killed by rogue players, then the overall train earns fewer rewards, and the poachers themselves also fail to benefit at all from the train. Poaching also sets off a chain reaction by de-syncing that mark's respawn timer from the others, meaning it will likely idle out and despawn before the other marks have come back up, potentially requiring days to a week before coming back into sync for the trains.
{{quotation|Encyclopaedia Eorzea: Volume II, page 271|To abate the threat of notorious beasts roaming free in the wilds, the Eorzean Alliance established an organized culling commonly known as the Hunt. Yet rather than assign this duty to their respective armies and risk a lessening of their ranks, the leaders of the Grand Companies instead petitioned that the tasks be assigned to adventurers and mercenaries. With a bounty on the heads of myriad menacing monsters, adventurers seeking danger and glory could now take up arms, find their marks, and reap the renown of tracking and defeating, the realm’s most dangerous game.

The independently operated Clan Centurio—brought together by Ser Leaudaste of Ishgard and colorfully known as a “ragtag band of glory hunters, mercenaries, and has-beens”—has also taken it uponnitself to rid the land of deplorables, collecting coin from the citizenry with the promise that the clan will see the realm safe. This feat they achieve by offering a portion of the amassed gil as reward to any hunter brave or foolish enough to fell the marks.

The following are excerpts taken from an official Clan Centurio mark log-a comprehensive collection of rumors and sightings compiled over centuries by past hunters. As such, some of the entries tend to be a tad more colorful than what one may find in a normal bestiary. Hunt boards plastered with the latest mark bills can now be found in almost every large settlement from Eorzea to Hingashi. Bills contain much of the information an aspiring hunter needs to know about his quarry. But without the proper seal, a kill will earn him little more than a pat on the back.}}
* Astrid has need of an adventurer to resolve a quandary in love.

**※This quest is available for a limited time only.

* As you are taking in the romantic air of the Valentione's Day celebrations in Gridania, you come upon Astrid de Valentione, the head emissary of ardor and affection. She wastes no time recruiting your aid in assisting a botanist named Laurovic, who has provided the roses which are being distributed for the festivities, but is experiencing difficulties of his own in love. To that end do you make your way to the Greatloam Growery, there to learn from the man the details of his dilemma.

**※Please note that you will be unable to complete this quest after the seasonal event has ended. For details, please check the Lodestone.

* Speaking with Laurovic, you learn that he seeks to be reunited with his love, an Ishgardian botanist named Sylginie, who had left without a word. The roses being given out were grown from the seeds she had entrusted to him, in hopes that she might be compelled to return to Gridania to see them. And though return she has, she soon vanished again amidst the throng, and Laurovic bids you help him to find her. So it is that you set forth in search of a silver-haired Elezen maiden wearing a rose earring.

* After a search in the city, you succeed in locating Sylginie. While she admits that she still loves Laurovic, for reasons she does not disclose, she says that she is too ashamed to meet him, and asks that he be told to forget her.

* You break the bad tidings to Laurovic, who struggles to come to terms with Sylginie's request. It is then that Ser Titouan, a knight of House Haillenarte, announces himself. It transpires that the roses used in the celebration are the Driancoin, a prized variety that withered in the freeze that descended upon Coerthas following the Calamity. When this happened, it was believed that Sylginie, who had tended the Haillenarte rose gardens, fled for the shame, and it is to ascertain the truth of the matter that Ser Titouan has come to Gridania. Refusing to give up on his love, Laurovic asks for permission to search with the knight, who proposes spreading a rumor to draw out Sylginie. Your course of action thus decided, the three of you split up to recruit citizens to your cause.

* You approach a number of citizens, all of whom are more than willing to do their part for love. Your task satisfactorily accomplished, you make your way to the Greatloam Growery to rejoin your companions in anticipation of Sylginie's appearance.

* The ruse goes as planned, with Sylginie soon arriving out of concern for Laurovic, who apologizes for his deception before asking her why she left the Driancoin seeds with him before vanishing. As you and Titouan watch on, Sylginie explains that she wished only to save the rose, but having failed her house as well as violated its rules, she felt that she did not deserve to be happy. Laurovic vehemently disagrees, and proffering a bouquet on one knee, he begs her to remain and grow roses with him. In turn, Ser Titouan gives his assurance that Sylginie will not be punished, and after a moment's silence, she finally allows herself to smile as she accepts Laurovic's heartfelt invitation.

* Laurovic thanks you and Ser Titouan for helping him and Sylginie to be reunited. After the knight takes his leave, the couple set off to report the happy tidings to Astrid at the amphitheatre, and you are asked to accompany them.

* Astrid rejoices at the blissful end to Laurovic and Sylginie's tale, and expresses her delight that the Driancoin should reunite those who grew them. The rose will doubtless continue to help people to convey the depths of their hearts, during this Valentione's Day and the days beyond.
The world is rife with all manner of evil, but deep in the shadows there lurk some beings so nefarious the mere mention of their names can fill a hero’s heart with dread. These fiends and freebooters, monsters and machina are the “elite,” and there are those who will stop at nothing to rid the realm of their terror, offering rich rewards to see them slain.
Quest Acceptance
Mayaru Moyaru: Do my eyes deceive me, or do I spy a familiar face who looks like she could do with some proper summer recreation? That's right─the sun's rays are out in full force, and so is our beloved Moonfire Faire!
Mayaru Moyaru: These days, the event doubles as free promotion for the Adventurers' Guild, you know. The brave and the bold show off their heroics, and afterwards, the faire guests flock to the Guild in droves to hire them.
Mayaru Moyaru: But the real star of the show is the acclaimed Eorzean Nimble Warrior course, bringing in hundreds upon hundreds of new challengers!
Mayaru Moyaru: At any rate, we could really use more help out there, so if perchance I've piqued your interest, I suggest you ship out to Costa del Sol and speak to our chief chaperone Haermaga!

Speak to chief chaperone Haermaga at Costa del Sol
Haermaga: [Forename]! Now there's a sight for sore eyes. Did Mayaru Moyaru send you out here to lend a hand?
Haermaga: This year, the event is shaping up to be a thrill for visitors and staff alike! Allow me to give you a brief outline of what we have planned.
Haermaga: In case the screaming and splashing hadn't given it away, we've brought back the Eorzean Nimble Warrior course with all of its explosive challenges intact!
Haermaga: And if the summer sun gets to be too much, grant yourself a refreshing reprieve by enjoying an icy treat or playing with the polar bears!
Haermaga: Even better, this year we've added a little Far Eastern flair with these hand fans. They're called “uchiwa,” and they drive away evil spirits, or so I'm told.
Haermaga: To ensure their authenticity, we hired an expert in the art of the festival─a little Namazu fellow─to craft us a hundred crates of them! And what color could be more fitting for Moonfire than bright, blazing red?
Haermaga: Seeing as the origins of the event can be traced back to the Bombard hunts of years past, I say uchiwa are a perfect fit for the spirit of the occasion─and judging from the sizable crowds, I'm far from the only one!
Haermaga: The downside, of course, is that we presently find ourselves quite ill-equipped to manage a turnout of this magnitude. Personally, I'd like to bolster our security cadre if I can.
Haermaga: As it stands, none of us would be able to leave our posts in the event of a serious emergency. So, given the fortuitous timing of your arrival, could I ask you to─

Woman's Voice: M-M-MONSTER! AAAAAAAAAHH!
Haermaga: Did she say monster!? Damn it all! The people are starting to panic!
Haermaga: Please, [Forename], you've got to help us. I'll stay here and try to keep the crowd calm─you head north and find that woman!

Search for the terrified tourist
Terrified Tourist: The monster was just here, I swear it! It was leering at me from behind that rock, making these off-kilter little motions, and then it ran off to the east!
Terrified Tourist: I thought for certain it would come over here and...oogh, I feel faint! I need to go lie down...

Search for clues
Sweaty Guest: Damn... I didn't stand a chance against that thing!
Sweaty Guest: You should have seen it! I was minding my own business out here, practicing my steps, when suddenly that thing showed up out of nowhere to challenge me to a dance-off! Then, after it utterly trounced me, it raced off again!
Sweaty Guest: Would that I could tell you where, or even which direction. Although, come to think of it, I believe I saw something fall from its body.
Sweaty Guest: Well, it doesn't much matter to me anymore. I can hear summer's call, and it must be heeded! To the ocean with me!
Sweaty Guest: Whatever fell off the thing, you'll find it lying over there, if you think it will help your search.

Examine the fallen item
Beaudefoin: Aha! There [he/she] is!
Beaudefoin: Glad as ever to see you again, [Forename]! Haermaga told us you might be in need of urgent assistance, so here we are!
P'obyano: We've heard reports of a green monster running amok. Have you learned aught in the way of a clue?
Beaudefoin: It dropped something, did it? Looks to be a needle, by my reckoning.

What will you say?
* It's obvious we're dealing with a cactuar.
** P'obyano: Cactuars in La Noscea of all places? Surely they would struggle to survive so far removed from their native habitat of Thanalan...
* It's obvious we're dealing with an inebriated weaver.
** Beaudefoin: Surely that woman would not have mistaken a drunkard for a monster. Given that it's green in color and possessed of needles, that would suggest some type of cactuar.
P'obyano: Cactuars in La Noscea of all places? Surely they would struggle to survive so far removed from their native habitat of Thanalan...

???: I am so, so sorry about this!
P'obyano: M-Madam Memeja! If I'm not mistaken, was it not Master Gegeruju himself who invited you out to Costa del Sol?
Memeja: Yes, I traveled all the way from Ul'dah at the summons of my friend Gegeruju. Naturally, I couldn't bear the thought of my dear pets missing out on the fun and festivities, so I brought them along with me.
Memeja: Not for a moment did I ever think they would act out like this! You have my deepest apologies!
Memeja: They were perfect angels when we stopped in to see Gegeruju. He even gave them treats!
Memeja: But the moment I stepped away for a drink, they went mad, and poor Gegeruju couldn't rein them in!
Memeja: By the time I got back, they were gone... I swear to you, this has never happened before... <sob>

P'obyano: Well, that would certainly explain how a cactuar ended up in La Noscea. Regardless, if your pets pose a danger to the faire-goers, we may have to subdue them by force.
Memeja: No! Please! I've raised them since they were pups─they'd never hurt a fly! <sob>
P'obyano: I don't fancy the prospect myself, but what other option is there? Given that the Moonfire Faire would have no venue were it not for Master Gegeruju, I'd obviously prefer if we didn't upset a dear friend of his.
Beaudefoin: Yes, termination should be a last resort. Let us first attempt to capture them.
P'obyano: A sensible plan. Should things turn violent, it would only frighten the attendees. This calls for a more subtle approach─just the three of us, perhaps?
Beaudefoin: Indeed. I would see this situation sorted swiftly that we might return to the faire.
Beaudefoin: If we work quickly, we may manage to find it before it escapes the bounds of Costa del Sol. Thus I propose we split up. [Forename], my friend, will you search the west side of the island?

Search for the cavorting cactuar
Beaudefoin: Did you find something!?
P'obyano: It appears she did. But how are we going to capture it?
Beaudefoin: I've never seen a cactuar look so dangerous. Is it just me, or is it radiating an aura of pure malice?
Memeja: I've never seen the poor thing like this, either! Come to think of it, Gegeruju told me it seemed to him as though they were possessed!
P'obyano: In that case, perhaps the aura is an evil spirit. If only we could purify it somehow...

What will you say? Perhaps an uchiwa would help? / What that thing needs is an exorcism.-> What that thing needs is an exorcism.

P'obyano: Of course! In the Far East, they use uchiwa to ward off evil spirits, right? Maybe our festival fans would work!
Beaudefoin: In that case, allow me to do the honors! (Beaudefoin begins to Uchiwasshoi and wave the fan)
Beaudefoin: Evil spirit, begone! Uchiwasshoi! (The cactuar stopped dancing)
P'obyano: Wait, so when you said “pets”─you brought seven cactuars to La Noscea!?
**※This quest is available for a limited time only.

*The royal seneschal appears to be Peatie's biggest fan, and he invites both her and Aldemund to Ul'dah, that the goobbue might be the star attraction of this year's Little Ladies' Day. Requesting your assistance in comforting Peatie as she becomes accustomed to the crowds, he departs to Ul'dah to make preparations for her grand debut. Aldemund and Peatie have business to attend to in Gridania before they follow, so the performer asks you to go ahead and await their arrival.
**※Please note that you will be unable to complete this quest after the seasonal event has ended. For details, please check the Lodestone.

*The royal seneschal informs you that the planning committee for Little Ladies' Day has agreed to welcome Peatie with open arms, and now he asks you to help do what you can to spread the same sentiment among the city's populace. He bids you travel to the Steps of Thal and drum up interest in the coming entertainment.

*While not everyone you speak with is accepting of a goobbue in their city at first, you manage to convince several to attend the show, with some even expressing excitement at the prospect. Who knows how far their enthusiasm might spread? As the show draws near, all that remains is to visit the stage and report your success to the royal seneschal.

*You arrive at the stage on Emerald Avenue to see a crowd much larger than the one in Gridania, all waiting in anticipation. It seems the presence of so many expectant guests has caused Peatie to freeze up, but Aldemund suggests that you /rally her spirits to shake her out of this fluster.

*Although Peatie is initially too frightened to respond to your encouragement, a few heartfelt words manage to break her loose from the clutches of fear and give her a newfound sense of determination. With the goobbue ready for her big show, you can now join the crowd and cheer for her success.

*Peatie takes the stage and dazzles all present with her performance, earning a hearty applause that makes her beam with pride. The royal seneschal appears eager to speak with you after this roaring success.

*The show is the talk of Ul'dah, and Peatie basks in the people's adoration. Realizing that she is meant to keep on this road and that his best days as a performer are behind him, Aldemund asks that you take his companion along on your adventures. You accept the now-famous goobbue into your company without hesitation, and the royal seneschal and Jihli Aliapoh encourage you both to enjoy the remainder of the celebrations in Ul'dah and Gridania. With so much merrymaking across the realm, smiles will come easy for some time yet.
**※This quest is available for a limited time only.

*As dependably as eggs fall from a laying hen, this year's Hatching-tide festivities are being overseen by none other than Jihli Aliapoh, whose ambitions extend further than ever before. She describes to you her dream of a goobbue upon a stage in Ul'dah, and details her plan to hold a tandem celebration of both Hatching-tide and Little Ladies' Day which will spread joy across two of Eorzea's city-states. However, she must first convince the planners of Little Ladies' Day that the goobbue performer she hired poses no danger to the people. The royal seneschal has traveled from Ul'dah on behalf of his peers, and Jihli has instructed you both to visit Bentbranch Meadows, where the goobbue is even now delivering joy to all and sundry.
**※Please note that you will be unable to complete this quest after the seasonal event has ended. For details, please check the Lodestone.

*After being dazzled by the masterful display of Aldemund's goobbue companion, Peatie, the royal seneschal is convinced that she would be the perfect fit for Little Ladies' Day. She must first win the hearts of the people of Gridania, however, and for that Aldemund requires your aid. It seems Peatie suffers from a minor case of stage fright, and Aldemund would have you ride on the goobbue's head to reassure her as she delivers smiles to the people.

*Peatie shows no sign of discontent as you mount her head. Now, the people of Gridania await to have the spirit of Hatching-tide stirred within them.

*The sound of cheers can be heard reverberating throughout Bentbranch Meadows, a clear indication of Peatie's successful performance. Aldemund will undoubtedly wish to hear of this favorable outcome.

*You arrive to see Aldemund's store of eggs depleted—a true sign that Peatie's show made a splash. Although Aldemund believes her place on Ul'dah's stage is secured, the final decision comes down to the judgment of the royal seneschal.
*The royal seneschal has reached a decision.

Journal
Jihli Aliapoh is looking for someone to help make a dream come true.

※This quest is available for a limited time only.

As dependably as eggs fall from a laying hen, this year's Hatching-tide festivities are being overseen by none other than Jihli Aliapoh, whose ambitions extend further than ever before.

※Please note that you will be unable to complete this quest after the seasonal event has ended. For details, please check the Lodestone.

After being dazzled by the masterful display of Aldemund's goobbue companion, Peatie, the royal seneschal is convinced that she would be the perfect fit for Little Ladies' Day. She must first win the hearts of the people of Gridania, however, and for that Aldemund requires your aid. It seems Peatie suffers from a minor case of stage fright, and Aldemund would have you ride on the goobbue's head to reassure her as she delivers smiles to the people.
Peatie shows no sign of discontent as you mount her head. Now, the people of Gridania await to have the spirit of Hatching-tide stirred within them.
The sound of cheers can be heard reverberating throughout Bentbranch Meadows, a clear indication of Peatie's successful performance. Aldemund will undoubtedly wish to hear of this favorable outcome.
You arrive to see Aldemund's store of eggs depleted—a true sign that Peatie's show made a splash. Although Aldemund believes her place on Ul'dah's stage is secured, the final decision comes down to the judgment of the royal seneschal.
