*Based on your information, [[Hien]] is of the opinion that [[Alphinaud]] indeed encountered some manner of trouble at the [[The Burn|Burn]]. He suggests conducting a search of the wasteland upon flying mounts, and [[Yugiri]] bids you see to your preparations before joining them at the overlook near the [[The House of the Fierce|House of the Fierce]].

*The party is assembled, as are the birds that will carry you. It is time to set out for the Burn in search of Alphinaud. ※The Burn can be accessed via the Duty Finder.

*Scant moments after arriving at the Burn, you are caught in the midst of a fierce sandstorm which scatters your comrades in all directions. Upon landing, you fight your way through hordes of fearsome desert creatures, as well as machina, inside what appear to be [[Allagan]] ruins. At length, you emerge in an area of relative safety and are reunited with the others. It is then that you spy the remains of the [[airship]] which bore Alphinaud away in the distance. Evidence of a battle abounds, but your friend and his traveling companions are nowhere to be seen. At Y'shtola's prompting, the party proceeds to scour the area for clues.

*Judging by the insignia upon a fallen soldier's uniform, Alphinaud's party came under attack from the [[Varis zos Galvus|Emperor]]'s personal guard. While the implications of this discovery are unsettling, there is little more to be done at the crash site, and Yugiri suggests returning to the [[Doman Enclave]] to consider your next move.

*The journey back to [[Doma]] proves blessedly uneventful, and Hien is visibly relieved.

*As [[Alisaie]] laments [[Alphinaud|her brother]]'s lengthy silence since departing for the [[Garlean]] motherland, a messenger arrives from the [[Eorzean Alliance]]. He informs you that a council is to be held in [[Ala Mhigo]] to deliberate how best to combat the [[Ascian]] menace, and that the [[Scions]]' presence has been requested. Moments after the messenger takes his leave, [[Riol]] receives a call from [[Thancred]]. It would seem your old friend is en route from the imperial provinces bearing important intelligence, and so you set out to meet him in the [[Ala Mhigan Quarter]].

*After gulping down a cup of water, a breathless Thancred briefs you on all that he has earned during his time in Garlean territory. The various resistance movements abroad fight on, bolstered by materiel support from the Eorzean Alliance, but the impostor wearing [[Zenos]]'s face continues to move in plain sight, affirming your suspicion that an Ascian hand holds the reins of the Empire. Last but not least, Thancred reveals that he received a distorted message from Alphinaud, from which he could only make out two words: "[[The Burn]]." Immediately recognizing this as the name of a barren wasteland on the edge of [[Othard]], Alisaie declares her intention to search for her brother there, and you duly agree to accompany her.

*Alisaie proposes paying a visit to [[Doma]] in order to apprise [[Hien]] of the situation and consult him on transportation to the Burn. Since you will be in the area, Thancred suggests that you first take the opportunity to call on [[Y'shtola]], who is currently in the [[Doman Enclave]] conducting her [[primal]] investigation.

*You find your fellow Scion speaking with a local miner, who complains of having unearthed naught but deaspected crystals of late. After he takes his leave, Y'shtola shares her observations on the use of sacred relics in summoning. These objects of worship, it would seem, allow for a primal to be called forth even in the absence of faith on the summoner's part, making them dangerous in the extreme. When the subject finally turns to Alphinaud's garbled message, Y'shtola readily agrees to aid in the search, prompting Alisaie to depart for the [[Kienkan]] to meet with Hien.

==Solo Duty Walkthrough==
After claiming a table and completing the following cutscene, you will enter a solo duty taking place within the wastes of The Burn in Othard.
*You will perform this duty as Alphinaud, with a Moonstone Carbuncle as a companion.
*The Moonstone Carbuncle will maintain a blue field of ''Shining Moonstone''. Standing within this field will increase your damage and decrease damage taken.
*Rescue the fallen soldier by first destroying the airship wreckage to the north with ''Ruin III'', then healing the soldier with ''Physick''. Finally, click on the soldier to revive him.
*Shortly after, a group of enemy soldiers will attack. Take out the Hostile Strangers first, then focus on the Hostile Commander. Heal yourself as necessary. A cutscene will play once these enemies are taken care of.
*After the cutscene, you will be joined by a group of three mysterious allies. Continue taking down enemies one-by-one until the Menacing Mercenary is chained within a cross formation of magitek airships. Focus your attacks on one airship, preferably the one Maxima is attacking, to free him. Defeating the remaining enemies will complete the duty.

Y'shtola: Tea would be lovely. You may regale me with the tale of your adventures in the Far East─and of your encounter with this new primal especially.

Alisaie: I'll put the kettle on, then. That table looks free if you'd like to take a seat.

Alisaie: I'll take care of the tea─you can claim us a table.

Y'shtola: It is pronounced “Tsu-ku-yo-mi,” correct? A figure from Far Eastern mythology, no doubt...

System: Upon sitting at the table, several cutscenes will play in sequence.

Y'shtola: ...Interesting. So this Tsukuyomi was summoned in much the same manner as Susano─via the medium of a sacred relic.
Alisaie: That's right. They believe their gods─or kami─reside in physical objects.

Y'shtola: Given the danger they represent, it may behoove us to begin a catalog of such relics. But if we are to contain the threat, we will require a better understanding of the summoning method itself. I believe I shall pay a visit to Doma, and learn what I can on the subject.

Alisaie: A fine idea. And I know for a fact that our friends in Doma would be grateful for any information which could help to prevent further summoning in the region.

Alisaie: I will pen you a letter of introduction─Lord Hien will wish to welcome our resident expert on aetherology.

Thancred: Greetings! Could it be that I'm in time for tea?

Alisaie: It certainly looks that way. Come on─sit down and tell us how your investigations went.

Thancred: After you left, I went about questioning Bloodhowe's gravekeepers. They all told much the same story: once Lyse and her officers had confirmed Zenos dead, his corpse was interred under strict supervision.

Thancred: There seems little reason to doubt their testimony on that point, but when I mentioned the defacement of Zenos's grave, accounts grew rather more vague.

Thancred: None reported having seen any suspicious persons in the vicinity, and all assumed the act to have been perpetrated by a vengeful Ala Mhigan. Crucially, however, I was able to confirm that when the offending scrawl was removed, as per Lyse's instruction, no one involved thought to check the contents of the coffin. By that stage, 'tis like that the corpse was already missing.

Thancred: Assuming Zenos has not, in fact, risen from the dead, we are left with two possibilities: either the body was disposed of to lend credence to the claims of an extremely committed impostor, or an Ascian has taken up residence within it.

Y'shtola: If Asahi was as fervent a devotee as you believe, he would not have been fooled by an impersonation, however committed. We must assume that we are dealing with an Ascian, and proceed accordingly.

Thancred: Agreed. The question is, how many ''more'' such monsters are waiting for Alphinaud in Garlemald?

Alisaie: Their presence was his chief reason for going. He understood the risks. I only hope he did not underestimate the extent of the infestation...

Alphinaud: I have read something of the Burn. It was described as a desolate wasteland, bled dry of every last drop of aether...

Maxima: Aye. It is believed that a succession of eikon summonings was responsible.

Maxima: When Emperor Solus first came to Othard and beheld this blight, he is said to have reeled at the scale of the devastation. He declared eikons a threat to our very star's existence, and issued an Empire-wide decree ordering the eradication of all such entities.

*Lyse reacts to the news of Zenos's return with predictable disbelief, but Thancred is on hand to propose a simple -- if somewhat unsavory -- way of settling the matter. Journey to Bloodhowe in the Lochs, and inspect the crown prince's mortal remains.

*You heave aside the weighty stone lid atop Zenos's resting place, but contrary to Thancred's predictions, find no writhing snakes or scuttling spiders waiting for you within. The coffin is empty. Leaving Thancred to track down the workers responsible for interring the late viceroy, you prepare to return to the Rising Stones with Alisaie. The other Scions must hear of this development, and the possibility that an Ascian now holds court in Garlemald.

*You arrive to find that Alisaie has already made a full report to Urianger via linkpearl. Soon after, you are joined by Y'shtola, who listens carefully to the facts before agreeing that Ascian possession is indeed the most likely explanation. It would seem that Alphinaud has entered into a deadly web of intrigue, and Alisaie cannot help but worry for her brother's safety...

Alisaie: It's good to see you, Lyse. As for my headstrong brother, he's off on what will almost certainly turn out to be a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Garlemald.

Alisaie: It's a long story, but...we have evidence that Zenos might still be alive.

Lyse: ''What''!? But that's─ If this is a joke─ Gods, this had better be a joke!

Lyse: Look─I know what I saw, all right? We ''all'' saw it. And here you are saying he's alive and well and living the high life back in Garlemald!?

Alisaie: I know how ludicrous this sounds. I'm still having difficulty believing it myself. But while I might doubt the word of an imperial envoy, I'm inclined to trust [Player]'s. [He/She] saw the crown prince through the Echo─in a meeting that could only have taken place in the recent past.

Lyse: No, it must have been─I don't know─some kind of...really convincing impostor. Zenos is ''dead''. He had a great big hole in his neck! We ''buried'' him!

M'naago: Aye, and someone went to the trouble of desecrating the bastard's grave, remember?

Lyse: Thancred! What brings you to the Reach?

Thancred: Alphinaud had me lending a hand at the Saltery─keeping an eye on the rebuilding work and so on─just until operations were up and running. And now that they are, I thought I might look in on you before wending my weary way back to headquarters.

Thancred: Forgive me if I misheard, but is there some suggestion the late crown prince could have...''gotten better''? If so, might I suggest a quick look inside his coffin as our first order of business?

Lyse: Eurgh. As much as I hated the man, it doesn't feel right defiling his grave. But if it will put this rumor to rest, I suppose we have to. And when there are no curious eyes about, if we can manage it.

M'naago: Zenos is buried up at Bloodhowe in the Lochs. His grave was set apart from the others and left unmarked, so as not to upset the locals.

Lyse: Then it shouldn't be too hard to find. Naago, you're in charge until I get back!

M'naago: You'll find Zenos's grave up at Bloodhowe, the burial ground in the Lochs. The stone isn't marked, but it's set apart from the others, so it should be obvious enough which one you're after.

Alisaie: Most of the graves are grouped together, but they managed to find a lonely spot for Zenos, didn't they...

Thancred: My money is on writhing snakes. Possibly spiders. Let's prize it open and see what comes out.

Lyse: This is it... Gods, he'd better be in there. Someone scrawled all over the stone a while ago, but I had it scrubbed off, and thought no more about it...

Thancred: So no one thought to check if the coffin was still occupied? Well then, we are presented with but one course of action.

Thancred: And we had best be sure we are not observed in the doing of it. Shall we begin?

Thancred: Oh dear. We seem to be missing a corpse.

Alisaie: Well it must be somewhere. I only hope it isn't walking around...

Lyse: If there's no corpse, then...are we to conclude the rumors are true?

Thancred: Not necessarily. We might still be dealing with a doppelganger of some kind. An agent could have been sent to dispose of the body in a bid to lend credence to the tale of Zenos's resurrection.

Thancred: More and more, however, I find myself siding with Alphinaud's theory of Ascian possession. Speaking from experience, I can tell you they have no qualms about taking a living host, let alone a dead one...

Lyse: You're saying an Ascian is walking around in Zenos's body?

Thancred: It seems a distinct possibility. Once I have put this grave back the way we found it, I shall pay a visit to the people responsible for interring the crown prince.

Thancred: Before leaping to any conclusions, I want to know for sure if a body was ever buried here...and how certain we are that Zenos was properly dead.

Lyse: If he wasn't, that was some trick. He as good as cut his own head off. Anyway, Raubahn needs to hear about this. If you find anything out, send word to me at Rhalgr's Reach.

Alisaie: <sigh> I don't know why I'm surprised─with matters settling down in Doma, we were due another crisis.

Y'shtola: Would that his wisdom extended to the question of his own safety. Capable though he has become, he ventures alone into the enemy's stronghold─and the shadowy web of the Paragons, like as not.

Alisaie: When it comes to making rash decisions, I'm hardly in a position to criticize, but...

*Upon your return to the [[Doman Enclave|enclave]], thoughts of Zenos's resurrection and untold Ascian devilment are briefly banished by scenes of joyous reunion. And just like that, you find yourself bidding farewell to yet another companion. Yugiri: Yotsuyu hid her recovery well─I had no inkling that her memory had returned. I keep asking myself when it could have happened. At the meeting with her parents, perhaps? But then why would she─? Nay. There is naught to be gained from such conjecture.

Alisaie: So Asahi got his way in the end, and at an unspeakable price. He really is a vile little worm, isn't he.

Alphinaud: So Yotsuyu has returned to the bosom of the Empire after all. I cannot say I am surprised. But what I struggle to fathom is Asahi's aim in all of this.

Hien: So, my friends...that which we feared has come to pass. Yotsuyu has regained her memory and returned to the imperial fold.

Hien: It is, by any measure, a cruel twist, not least for Gosetsu...but one which does not invalidate our agreement. According to the terms of the contract, we were bound to surrender Yotsuyu into the Garleans' hands should her condition improve prior to the hour of the exchange. By that reckoning, all is...if not as it should be, then...as it ''must'' be. This I can accept.

Hien: But what I ''cannot'' accept are the unconscionable lengths to which Asahi went to achieve this outcome.

Hien: Given his recent conduct, and his apparent admiration for Zenos, it is plain he cannot be trusted. And that is to say nothing of the unexplained containers he insists on bringing to our meetings. Whatever the ambassador is planning, I think it unlikely our negotiations will end peacefully.

Hien: In the event of hostilities, the safety of the conscripts must be our first concern. As such, I would have an escape route in place before the meeting begins.

Alphinaud: A wise precaution. If the main structure of Castrum Fluminis is to be the stage for the exchange, then I believe a thorough inspection is in order...

Yugiri: The citadel has stood empty ever since the imperial withdrawal─while we took steps to ensure that it could not be defended by an occupying force, it is entirely possible that the ambassador has arranged things there to his advantage. I will slip inside, and make certain we have an unobstructed exit.

Alphinaud: Pray allow me to join you. I have some experience of imperial facilities. And should matters take a turn for the worse, I would hope to be of at least some use...

Hien: Very good. That should be enough to guarantee us a way out of the castrum. Beyond that, however...

Hien: We will need a ship to ferry the conscripts back to the enclave. Even with every skiff we have, it would take several trips to evacuate everyone.

Hien: ...A Confederate sekibune, on the other hand, would require only a single run, ''and'' leave us far less vulnerable on the water. Assuming, of course, Rasho can be convinced to part with one.

Alisaie: Might I take the lead on this? I've had dealings with Rasho and his pirates before.

Alisaie: And I won't be alone, will I, [Player]?

Player: You can count of me. / I suppose not...

Alisaie: Much appreciated. I quite fancy parleying with pirates again. It's just a shame Lyse won't be there to reprise her role.

Hien: Hm! I am certain you would make a persuasive pair─but I think I will accompany you to these negotiations all the same.

Yugiri: My lord, the ruler of Doma should not be seen consorting with common brigands...

Hien: Come now, Yugiri─they stood with us against the Empire. If we would ask their aid once more, we must treat with them as equals. My presence shall serve to demonstrate our sincerity.

Yugiri: ...Indeed, my lord. Pray forgive my presumption. By your leave, Master Alphinaud and I shall be about our task.

Hien: And we should be on our way to Onokoro. Time is short, and Rasho may take some convincing.

===On Onokoro===
Tansui: In my mind, Yotsuyu is deserving of only one fate─memory loss be damned. And if you don't have the stones for it, we would be happy to take on the burden. It'll be over nice and swift.

Rasho: Now there is a face I did not expect to see. What brings the noble lord of Doma into the company of bilge rats such as we?

Tansui: If you've come to offer Doman chains in place of Garlean ones, then I'm afraid you've wasted a trip.

Hien: Ahahaha! And what fine subjects you would make! With your fleet at our disposal, our restoration efforts would be hastened tenfold.

Hien: But let us speak seriously. I stand before you not to demand your fealty, but to request your aid once more.

Rasho: Mayhap you are confused. Doma's liberation was but a means to an end. We aided you only to save ourselves.

Rasho: Now we have no such incentive. We have sworn no oath to you, and will not come running like hounds at their master's whistle.

Hien: And I would not presume to treat you thus. I come to petition your cooperation as an ally of equal standing.

Tansui: Equal standing, you say? Seems a bit lopsided to me. Where's the profit for us in all of this?

Alisaie: ''Profit''! Must you always think in such shortsighted terms? Have you ever heard of ''doing the right thing''?

Tansui: Have you ever heard of ''pirates'', little miss? You'll find we're simple souls: you pay our tithe, you sail in peace; deny us our due and we take it by force. We'll pull you out of the water if we see you drowning, but we are not in the business of doing something for nothing.

Hien: Calm yourself, Mistress Alisaie. We did not come here to moralize. We came here to talk. And there is more to be said.

Hien: According to records recovered after the liberation, relatives of your Doman-born brethren were among those conscripted into the imperial army. And as you may be aware, we recently negotiated the return of said conscripts. Many, alas, will arrive to find no families waiting for them, no homes to grant them shelter.

Hien: I would ask that you offer them a place in the Confederacy. You would not be rescuing strangers, but welcoming brothers and sisters into your ranks. And has not the Confederacy been in need of new recruits...?

Rasho: You seem well-informed of our affairs, Lord Hien.

Tansui: The losses we suffered at the Garleans' hands are no secret. But since we drove them out of Doma, the Ruby Sea has come alive with traders and travelers. So many vessels to tax, so few pirates to tax them.

Tansui: We could do with some more hands on deck, and doubly so if they're familiar with the inner workings of the Empire.

Rasho: Very well. The Confederacy agrees to your request. You will have your ship.

Rasho: ...But before that, you must do something for me. The vessel I have in mind was damaged during your battle with the Empire. Though we have mended her, she has yet to be declared seaworthy.

Rasho: She is sound enough down below, but when you load her up with conscripts and the waterline rises...those upper planks had best be free of cracks.

Rasho: Assuming you want your people to stay dry, you will do me the favor of swimming around the hull to check for weaknesses. That is, if Doman lords are not averse to getting their robes wet?

Hien: Not this Doman lord! If we each inspect a third of the ship, it shall be done in a trice.

Rasho: That is the spirit. The ship is moored at Quickscape Pier. Our apprentice shipwright will be on deck to hear your report. Look for a lad named Ihanashi.

Alisaie: And I thought I had a knack for parleying with pirates... For the record, my previous attempt was an unmitigated success, and ''yes'', I should have quit while I was ahead.

Tansui: Well, well. I'd thought the rumors exaggerated, but the young lord lives up to his reputation...

Rasho: The sekibune is moored at Quickscape Pier. Speak with Ihanashi when you have finished your swim.

Tansui: So Yotsuyu found her way back to the imperials, did she? I did warn you about being merciful...

===Inspecting the Ship===
Hien: The water is so invigorating! I have not swum in the Ruby Sea since─ Ah, but I should be concentrating on the task at hand!

System: You see no signs of damage here.

System: Upon closer inspection, you spot a small crack in one of the planks...

===Reporting to Ihanashi===
Ihanashi: Aye, I'm the shipwright─er, ''apprentice'' shipwright. Did you find anything that might need attention?

Alisaie: The section I inspected seemed solid enough.

Ihanashi: ...On the port side, near the bow, you say? All right, I'll have a look and see what I can do.

Hien: My apologies, I seem to have lagged behind. I could float in that gentle sea all day...

Otherwise, I am happy to report no visible cracking or holes in my section of the hull.

Ihanashi: You─ Y-You─ You're Lord Hien! The captain sent you to inspect the hull!? Kami have mercy... Forgive us this discourtesy, my lord!

Hien: Hah! 'Tis quite all right. In fact, I rather enjoyed it. I take it you are of Doma?

Ihanashi: Y-Yes, my lord. The imperials took my father away after the uprising, and I had nowhere else to turn. The Confederacy became my family.

Ihanashi: But someone told me they're releasing the conscripts now. Maybe my father will be among them. Not that I can go back─there's no leaving once you've joined...

???: How fares our lady? Is she seaworthy?

Ihanashi: Captain! W-We've found a small crack in the port side, but I'll have it fixed before you know it!

Rasho: I see you have met the boy. Did he tell you his story? He babbles when he is nervous.

Rasho: Should his father be among the conscripts, as he hopes, I mean to give him the choice to leave this life. If he so chooses, I expect you to see they are provided for.

Hien: I have heard that those who join the Confederacy forswear all ties with kin and homeland. Is that oath so easily put aside?

Rasho: If I allow it. ...I see in him the lad I was twenty-five years ago. You say the words, you mean them, but the yearning for home still lingers.

Rasho: My family is long dead, and I know this life is my lot. But he has scarce dipped his toes with us. If there is a life for him in Doma, he should have the chance to live it.

Hien: Well said. The Empire's conquest has uprooted many and more. Be it in Yanxia or out on the Ruby Sea, we have a duty to ensure that Ihanashi and others like him are free to dwell where they desire.

Rasho: Then the matter is settled. I will make preparations to cast off.

Hien: Well, my friends, it seems we have our ship. Let us return to the enclave.

Kienkan Guardsman: Lord Hien is expecting you. May I show you in?

Alisaie: Alphinaud tells me they had little trouble finding a suitable route out of the castrum, but he won't say much more than that. If I didn't know better, I'd think he was hiding something...though I can't imagine what.

Alphinaud: The castrum was deserted. Quite deserted. 'Twas a simple matter to plot the surest path out. H-Hence our swiftness.

Yugiri: We found the castrum's tower unoccupied, and betraying no signs of recent activity. Only shadows and echoes awaited us there. Alphinaud seemed oddly reluctant to linger, but I saw naught to concern us.

Hien: It seems Yugiri and Alphinaud completed their task before us. They have been waiting.

Yugiri: We scouted the structure and determined the swiftest path to safety. In the event of hostilities, we will lead the conscripts outside with all possible haste.

Hien: From there, the Confederacy has pledged a ship to ferry us across the One River. Now we have but to attend the exchange, and pray to the kami these precautions were unnecessary.

Yugiri: All of this over a persimmon... I failed to consider how she might endanger herself. Knowing she has the mind of a child, I should have continued my vigilance─not relaxed it.

Hien: <sigh> That...would have been better avoided. But at least it did not end in bloodshed. And judging by Tsuyu's reaction, she remains oblivious to the events of her former life. This was no escape attempt.

Yugiri: Nay, it seems it was an offhand request of Gosetsu's which brought her to Namai. She came in search of a ''persimmon''.

Hien: Hah! And they say fruit is good for the health... I do hope Gosetsu finds the taste to his liking.

Hien: Well, we have certainly taken the long way around, but let us continue on to Castrum Fluminis and our meeting with the ambassador. Alphinaud and Alisaie should still be there, conducting their search.

Alisaie: I was sure Yotsuyu had fled, but it seems her memory hasn't returned after all. How foolish of me not to consider Gosetsu's craving for seasonal fruit...

Yugiri: The imperial airship has arrived. Whether our conscripts are aboard remains to be seen...

Alphinaud: Lord Hien informed us of the uproar at Namai. Thank the Twelve you found Yotsuyu when you did. I dare not think what might have happened had you not.

Yotsuyu: Do we have to stay here long? He'll be waiting for his fruit...

Hien: It seems our imperial guests have already arrived. 'Tis time to meet with the ambassador...

Asahi: What a pleasure it is to see you once more, Lord Hien. Not to mention my dear sister.

Hien: A pleasure to see you too, Ambassador. Forgive us our late arrival.

Hien: You have our people aboard the airship?

Asahi: Exactly as agreed. We would leave you in no doubt as to the purity of our intentions. I daresay it was the selfsame spirit of cooperation which prompted you to bring Yotsuyu here today.

Hien: Indeed. Before excluding her from the exchange, I thought it only fair that you see her condition for yourself. Physically, she is in fine health, but her mind is unchanged.

Asahi: So I see.

Asahi: But all need not necessarily be lost. In anticipation of this tragic turn of events, I took the liberty of inviting some special guests...

Asahi's Father: Ah, Yotsuyu! You look...well.

Hien: Of all the people...

Asahi: Is something wrong, dear sister? These are our beloved parents. Does not the sight of them bring back sweet childhood memories?

Yotsuyu: ...Gosetsu. I have to take this to Gosetsu...

Asahi: Hmph. It would seem my little surprise was not sufficient.

Asahi: You needn't glare at me so, Lord Hien─I merely did what any loving son would do for his family. Lest you doubt, I am content to leave the acting viceroy in your care. Pray treat her as you would any daughter of Doma.

Asahi: Do not grow too fond of this place, dear sister. You will come back to us ere long.

Hien: We continue with the exchange as planned, then.

Asahi: Very good. The structure across the river should serve our needs. We shall await you there with the conscripts if you would bring your captives...?

Hien: I knew better than to trust Asahi, but that was a dirty trick.

Hien: Still, unpleasant as it was, we have at least put the matter of Tsuyu's future to rest. I have sent her back to the enclave with Yugiri to give Gosetsu his precious persimmon.

Hien: Come, let us follow them.

Alisaie: You have that look, Alphinaud. What is it?

Alphinaud: Oh, nothing of consequence, most like... We can discuss it upon our return.

Alisaie: I suppose “Tsuyu” is to become an official Doman citizen. But what then? Will they keep her hidden here forever? Or might she one day be allowed to walk amongst her countrymen?

Alphinaud: ...So, it would seem there will be one less prisoner at the exchange. I only hope Yotsuyu's presence here will not present further problems...

Hien: We should pay a visit to Gosetsu, and reassure him about Tsuyu's fate. He will want to know that the Empire has finally relinquished its claim on her.

Hien: Gosetsu, are you awake?

Gosetsu: My lord! Come in, come in...

Gosetsu: When Tsuyu returned, her eyes were red from weeping. She spoke not a word─simply sat and peeled some fruit she'd brought for me.

Gosetsu: She then claimed weariness and retired to her chamber. Tell me, what happened to upset her so?

Hien: The ambassador arranged a surprise reunion with her foster parents. A misguided attempt to restore Yotsuyu to her senses.

Hien: It was plain their presence caused her great distress, but she seemed otherwise unaffected.

While [[Lord Hien]] deliberates over the proposed prisoner exchange, Asahi apparently wishes to take a trip around [[Yanxia]]. And who better to accompany him than the fabled Warrior of Light. Though you are sure he will be quite safe in Yugiri's company, it is plain that both would welcome your presence. You duly agree to join them, as does Alisaie, and the four of you set out for the town of [[Monzen]].

*Upon arriving in Monzen, Asahi is shocked to see what has become of the once-proud home of the samurai. Taking in the devastation wreaked under his sister's governance, he reaffirms his determination to put an end to the conflict between Doma and the [[Garlean Empire|Empire]]. That he might have a better view of the remnants of [[Doma Castle]], Yugiri then leads him deeper into the ruins.

*Doma Castle is no more, and Asahi can but lament the loss of the great keep which once graced Yanxia's skyline. Though Yugiri shares his sentiment, she observes that rebuilding such grand edifices will do little to help the people rebuild their lives. At the mention of Doma's long-suffering citizens, Asahi expresses a desire to visit [[Namai]], recalling that the village is only a short journey away. To this end, Yugiri dutifully heads for the nearby docks to ready a boat to bear you back through the [[Dairyu Moon Gates|Moon Gates]].

*After a brief trip down the [[The One River|One River]], you moor near the [[Eastern Ryurin Bridge]] only to hear a voice cry out in the distance. Asahi runs off towards the source of the commotion without hesitation and you follow in turn. Moments later, you are surprised to find [[Isse]] and [[Azami]] surrounded by a group of [[Kojin of the Red|Red Kojin]]. Thankfully, the thick-shelled sellswords prove no match for you, and beat a hasty retreat. Defeat all enemies and protect [[Isse]] to complete the duty.
*Pick up any enemies targetting Isse as soon as possible to reduce the amount of damage he takes.
*Try to keep yourself not too close, but not too far from Isse. [[Softshell of the Red|Red Kojin mages]] and their [[Slickshell Captain|captain]] will periodically cast AoEs targetting you, and he can be caught in the attack.
*A blue marker above your head indicates an AoE attack that persists on the ground for some time. Make avoiding Isse a priority for this.
*The Red Kojin captain will place a stack marker on Isse himself, prompting Asahi and you to group together to reduce the damage. Again, do not stray too far so that you can run to them in time, but separate as soon as possible to minimize further AoE attacks on him.

Plainly, the [[Garlean Empire|Garleans]] share your belief that their quarry is bound for Doma. [[Alphinaud]]'s subsequent admission that he purchased Gosetsu's katana with [[The Scions of the Seventh Dawn|Scion]] funds leaves [[Tataru]] aghast, but she sets aside her dismay and sends you off to continue your search. Your next stop is the [[The Ruby Price|Ruby Price]]. If Gosetsu and Yotsuyu have indeed set sail, there is a good chance the sentries there will have seen them.

*Before you can speak with the sentries, chaos erupts: the Empire has launched an attack against the [[Confederates|Confederate]] stronghold on [[Sakazuki]]. Wasting no time, you hasten to join the defensive effort, and your heart skips a beat as you make out a familiar figure -- Gosetsu. The old samurai lives still, but whether he does so much longer depends on you. Without breaking stride, you hurl yourself between him and his assailants, and at length succeed in beating them back.

*Having dealt with the immediate danger, you may turn your attention to your ailing comrade... and his unlikely traveling companion.

*At Alphinaud's prompting, Gosetsu recounts the miraculous tale of his survival. When the keep collapsed around them, he and Yotsuyu plunged into the [[The One River|One River]] and were swept out to sea where they drifted for days, before finally coming to rest on the shore of a desert island. Though she came through the ordeal whole of body, Yotsuyu awoke bereft of her memory, and Gosetsu, unable to decide her fate, resolved to deliver her to [[Hien]] for his judgment.

*Your most pressing questions thus answered, it is time to take your leave of Sakazuki. Alphinaud duly leads the way to the nearby pier, where he hopes Alisaie and Soroban will be waiting with the boat.

*Alisaie's joy at being reunited with Gosetsu is soured by the presence of Yotsuyu, whom she treats with unveiled suspicion. In a bid to diffuse the tension, Alphinaud loudly declares that the party should set sail without delay, and Soroban is happy to oblige, delivering everyone to the shore on the outskirts of [[Isari]].

*After bidding the rest of the party farewell, Soroban asks that you grant him a moment to discuss a [[An Auspicious Encounter|business venture]] which he claims will be extremely lucrative. It would, he adds, present a golden opportunity to recoup the Scion funds so carelessly spent on a certain katana and restore Tataru to good cheer besides. At last aware of the cost of his largesse, Alphinaud sheepishly encourages you to take Soroban up on his offer.

==Solo Duty Walkthrough==
Defeat all enemies to complete the duty.
*Once the duty starts, defeat all present enemies and then run up the ramp.
**''Possible bug'': A cutscene must trigger once you progress half-way up the ramp. If nothing occurs and you make it to the top, run back down to the bottom and back up until the cutscene triggers.
*More enemies will spawn after the cutscene. Prioritize any [[Magitek Rearguards]] that spawn, as they will eventually cast Self-Destruct, damaging everyone and placing a Vulnerability Up debuff on you.
*As soon as [[Yugiri]]'s [[Doton]] field is up, lure any Rearguards inside. This will slow them and allow you to kill them easier.
*Eventually a [[Magitek Hexadrone]] will spawn and target you with multiple AoEs. It will also summon drones that explode after a period of time.
*When the Hexadrone places a proximity-based marker over you, keep away from your NPC allies and get ready to move to lessen the damage taken.
*More Rearguards will spawn, and [[Alphinaud]] will prepare to cast [[Starstorm]]. Yugiri will lure two of the Rearguards to the Starstorm target field, while you must lure the other. Starstorm will damage all Rearguards significantly and allow you to kill them all in time before any of them finish casting Self-Destruct.

While Alisaie accompanies Gyodo to a meeting with his imperial connections, you and the others will seek out the pawnbroker to ascertain whether the weapon in question did indeed belong to Gosetsu.

Deeming it best to have eyes both inside and outside the throne room, you proceed to divide your forces into two groups. Thancred and Y'shtola will keep watch without, while you and the others take up positions within. Make your way to the palace's rear entrance, on the eastern edge of the quarter, and identify yourself to the guard on duty.

*In the midst of the meeting, the Qalyana broodmother somehow summons forth an incarnation of [[Lakshmi|Sri Lakshmi]], plunging the throne room into chaos. Too late, you realize that the guards entrusted with keeping the area free of crystals have themselves been enthralled. As the only warriors present blessed with the protection of the Echo, you and Arenvald must occupy the primal whilst your companions defend the visiting envoys from the Qalyana and the enthralled guards. Rally the hesitant Arenvald, and make your stand against the Lady of Bliss!

*Try as you might, the need to protect your allies from the primal's baleful influence renders you powerless to wrest the initiative from your foe -- until, that is, [[Fordola]] arrives to even the odds. Swallowing your questions, you engage Sri Lakshmi together, and succeed at last in banishing her to the aether. The battle is over, but the Butcher still stands before you, free of her fetters, weapon in hand...

*After a taut moment, Fordola surrenders her sword, and returns to her cell of her own accord. It would seem the danger has passed. Ask Lyse if she and her guests are unharmed.

*After thanking you for your efforts in the throne room, [[Lyse]] returns to conclude her meeting with the envoys from [[Gyr Abania]]. No longer needed, you retire to the rooftop gardens, where you a joined after a time by Raubahn. The General tells you of the council's decision to form an elected government, signaling the end of his time in [[Ala Mhigo]]. You subsequently pass [[Nanamo]] on your way to speak with Lyse, and sense that Raubahn's plans to return to [[Ul'dah]] are about to encounter a sultana-sized wrinkle...

*As you and your companions discuss the day's events, Nanamo arrives, flanked by [[Pipin]] and a rather sheepish-looking Raubahn. After some prompting by the sultana, the gruff warrior duly announces that he has been dismissed as leader of the [[Immortal Flames]], and stripped of his seat on the [[The Syndicate|Syndicate]]. Shocking though these revelations are, it does not take long for the assembled company to make light of them -- and small wonder, for Ala Mhigo's dearest son is finally home. Speak with Lyse, and learn of her plans for the future.

*For the moment, it seems that Lyse intends to return to [[Rhalgr's Reach]]. Follow Alphinaud's lead, and join her at the [[Ala Mhigan Resistance|Resistance]] stronghold.

*Lyse declares that her time as commander of the Resistance is over, and that she means to invite Raubahn to take her place. With Nanamo's resettlement project also proceeding apace, all present agree that the seeds of hope have at last begun to quicken in the war-torn land of Ala Mhigo.

==Solo Duty Walkthrough==
Upon speaking with [[Arenvald]], you will enter a solo duty.
*Your Duty Action is a short range instant cast AoE on standard spell/skill cooldown, best suited to taking out aether spheres in groups. NPCs with the Echo will also target the aether spheres but at a much slower pace -- account for their target, but don't rely on them to catch any missed.

*In the 2nd part of the fight, NPCs will avoid AoE, spread for markers and stack appropriately. Their reaction times are delayed, so some may find it easier to not move immediately. One NPC will also cast a shield for the ultimate (since your Duty Action is already in use).

*You are relieved to hear that Vidofnir, too, did sense the golem menace, and has no objection with your proposed course of action. Shatotto, for her part, is eager that the dragons will not stand in the way of the destruction she hopes to wreak. As your beastman friends deal with the straggling golems attempting to scale the mountains, you prepare to scale the peak with the sorceress and Zhai'a Nelhah to do battle with the abomination that awaits you.

*The mother of all golems is no more, and the comet that threatened to reduce the realm to rubble has sailed safely off to the heavens, with any fortune never to return.

*Shatotto congratulates you on your efforts, declaring you a worthy heir to her legacy─and the legacy of black magic itself─before her memory fades away. Lalai offers her own words of praise, before promptly getting into another tiff with her eternal nemesis Zhai'a Nelhah. Leaving the Hearer behind to reflect upon matters of etiquette, you and Lalai set off to share tidings of your triumph with your beastman friends.

*The beastmen rejoice upon hearing of your victory, and celebrate a triumphant day in the annals of black magic before taking their leave, proud to have reaffirmed your mutual friendship. Even Lalai and Zhai'a Nelhah come to a grudging but strong mutual acceptance─as the black mage thanks the Hearer for his efforts, and the Hearer promises to work for a day where practitioners of the black arts need no longer toil in the shadows. After Zhai'a cordially departs, Lalai invites you back to the Sacrarium to reflect upon the events of the day.

==Walkthrough==
Throughout the fight the Gemstone Golem will cast Trounce, a large cone aoe that does considerable damage. Stand close to reduce the space needed to dodge this aoe. He will cast this either 1-2 times repeatedly.

At 75%, 2 meteors will fall, Crimson Shard and Sable Shard, marking their location on the ground. Run to the opposite side of the stage to reduce damage. Destroy both of these as soon as possible. If you fail to destory them in time, the Gemstone Golem will try to absord the aether of the Crimson Shard and Sable Shard will turn into an add, a humanoid Gemstone Golem, after casting Igneous Conception. These meteors will continue to fall throughout the fight.

*Lalai is steeling herself for the final confrontation.

*The enemy gathers, and the time for the final confrontation draws nigh. Confident that you have primed your powers to the fullest, Lalai bids you join her─which is to say Shatotto─the Hearer Zhai'a Nelhah, and your beastman friends before the entrance to Anyx Trine. Prepare as you must and be on your way.

*At Anyx Trine, Shatotto─who has once again roused herself from slumber─briefs you on the plan of attack. Before doing battle on the sacred peak of Sohm Al, however, Zhai'a Nelhah would have you seek the blessing of the dragons who call this place home. Shatotto consents to the proposal, and you set off to seek a word with your old friend Vidofnir.

*You are relieved to hear that Vidofnir, too, did sense the golem menace, and has no objection with your proposed course of action. Shatotto, for her part, is eager that the dragons will not stand in the way of the destruction she hopes to wreak. As your beastman friends deal with the straggling golems attempting to scale the mountains, you prepare to scale the peak with the sorceress and Zhai'a Nelhah to do battle with the abomination that awaits you.

*The mother of all golems is no more, and the comet that threatened to reduce the realm to rubble has sailed safely off to the heavens, with any fortune never to return.

*Shatotto congratulates you on your efforts, declaring you a worthy heir to her legacy─and the legacy of black magic itself─before her memory fades away. Lalai offers her own words of praise, before promptly getting into another tiff with her eternal nemesis Zhai'a Nelhah. Leaving the Hearer behind to reflect upon matters of etiquette, you and Lalai set off to share tidings of your triumph with your beastman friends.

*The beastmen rejoice upon hearing of your victory, and celebrate a triumphant day in the annals of black magic before taking their leave, proud to have reaffirmed your mutual friendship. Even Lalai and Zhai'a Nelhah come to a grudging but strong mutual acceptance─as the black mage thanks the Hearer for his efforts, and the Hearer promises to work for a day where practitioners of the black arts need no longer toil in the shadows. After Zhai'a cordially departs, Lalai invites you back to the Sacrarium to reflect upon the events of the day.

*Reflecting on the Hearer's parting words, Lalai has made a resolution. She vows to follow the lead of Master Ququruka, putting every detail of your adventures together to paper in hopes that one day, the duties of your illustrious forebear and her friends will be known to the realm at large. Expressing her deep admiration for your profound mastery of the dark arts, she flashes a rare smile, deeply moved to have found another important calling in her life.

==Walkthrough==
Throughout the fight the Gemstone Golem will cast Trounce, a large cone aoe that does considerable damage. Stand close to reduce the space needed to dodge this aoe. He will cast this either 1-2 times repeatedly.

At 75%, 2 meteors will fall, Crimson Shard and Sable Shard, marking their location on the ground. Run to the opposite side of the stage to reduce damage. Destroy both of these as soon as possible. If you fail to destory them in time, the Gemstone Golem will try to absord the aether of the Crimson Shard and Sable Shard will turn into an add, a humanoid Gemstone Golem, after casting Igneous Conception. These meteors will continue to fall throughout the fight.
