'''Mounts''' allow players to travel around [[Eorzea]] faster.

After acquiring a mount, it can be summoned by dragging the icon on the action bar and clicking the icon. Players can acquire their first mount, [[Company Chocobo]], after completing the level 20 [[Main Scenario Quests|main story quest]] titled [[A Hero in the Making]] and joining a [[Grand Company]]. Players must also complete the quest [[My Little Chocobo]] given by an NPC located within their Grand Company Building. Other mounts can be acquired by meeting different requirements. [[Heavensward]], FFXIV's first expansion, introduced [[#Flying Mounts|Flying Mounts]].

Enemies can still attack mounted players, unless they ride a [[Chocobo#Chocobo_Porter|Chocobo Porter]].

==Mount speed==
As players progress, the speed of mounts on the ground will increase in two stages. The first is via quest lines, whereas the second is via purchasable enhancements. All mounts have the same base movement speed increase.

The speed of mounts is limited in certain areas: Enhancement I is limited in 4.0 areas / [[Residential Districts]] / [[Idyllshire]]

The speed enhancement available for all areas can be confirmed via the Mount Speed window under Travel in the Main Menu.

==Flying Mounts==

Flying mounts are introduced in [[Heavensward]], revealed at the Fan Festival in London 2014. Flying mounts allow the players to take to the sky and roam the areas of Heavensward freely. Many of the previous [[#Types of Mounts|ground mounts]], such as [[Company Chocobo]], will be able to fly. To do this, you will need to complete the quest [[I Believe I Can Fly]], located near the chocobo stables in Ishgard. Players can only fly in [[locations]] in Heavensward such as [[Ishgard]] and [[Coerthas Western Highlands]]. While flying, the flying mounts have 200% of the speed of a regular ground mount. While running grounded, the flying mounts will be the same speed as a ground mounts (100%).

*You can escape enemies on the ground by flying.

===Unlock===
Players can unlock flying mounts through the [[Main Scenario Quest]] [[Divine Intervention]]. Before flying in a zone, players need to attune with the [[Aether Currents]] in that zone. Players can check their attunement progress through the Aether Currents window under [[Travel]] in the main menu. Some Aether Currents are found in the zone while others are obtained by completing [[quests]]. Players are provided with an [[Aether Compass]] to aid them in their search.
*If you lose your Compass you can talk to [[Gibrillont]] at the [[Forgotten Knight]], or [[Gaufrid]] at [[Rhalgr's Reach]] to get a new one.

[[Minions]] are cosmetic pets that follow their owners around but do not have any gameplay functions. In patch 3.1, [[Lord of Verminion]], a minion battle strategy game, was released. In the mini game, different minions have different [[Minion Stats|stats and abilities]].

After using the minion whistles, players can summon their minions whenever they want by accessing the Minions Guide tab in the Character menu.

After acquiring a mount, it can be summoned by dragging the icon on the action bar and clicking the icon. Players can acquire their first mount, [[Company Chocobo]], after completing the level 20 [[Main Scenario Quests|main story quest]] titled [[A Hero in the Making]] and joining a [[Grand Company]]. Players must also complete the quest [[My Little Chocobo]] given by an NPC located within their Grand Company Building. Other mounts can be acquired by meeting different requirements. [[Heavensward]], FFXIV's first expansion, introduced [[#Flying Mounts|Flying Mounts]].

Enemies can still attack mounted players, unless they ride a [[Chocobo#Chocobo_Porter|Chocobo Porter]].

==Mount speed==
As players progress, the speed of mounts on the ground will increase in two stages. The first is via quest lines, whereas the second is via purchasable enhancements. All mounts have the same base movement speed increase.

The speed of mounts is limited in certain areas: Enhancement I is limited in 4.0 areas / [[Residential Districts]] / [[Idyllshire]]

==Flying Mounts==

Flying mounts are introduced in [[Heavensward]], revealed at the Fan Festival in London 2014. Flying mounts allow the players to take to the sky and roam the areas of Heavensward freely. Many of the previous [[#Types of Mounts|ground mounts]], such as [[Company Chocobo]], will be able to fly. To do this, you will need to complete the quest [[I Believe I Can Fly]], located near the chocobo stables in Ishgard. Players can only fly in [[locations]] in Heavensward such as [[Ishgard]] and [[Coerthas Western Highlands]]. While flying, the flying mounts have 200% of the speed of a regular ground mount. While running grounded, the flying mounts will be the same speed as a ground mounts (100%).

*You can escape enemies on the ground by flying.

===Unlock===
Players can unlock flying mounts through the [[Main Scenario Quest]] [[Divine Intervention]]. Before flying in a zone, players need to attune with the [[Aether Currents]] in that zone. Players can check their attunement progress through the Aether Currents window under [[Travel]] in the main menu. Some Aether Currents are found in the zone while others are obtained by completing [[quests]]. Players are provided with an [[Aether Compass]] to aid them in their search.
*If you lose your Compass you can talk to [[Gibrillont]] at the [[Forgotten Knight]], or [[Gaufrid]] at [[Rhalgr's Reach]] to get a new one.

===Controls===
After attuning to a zone, press the jump key while riding a flying mount to fly.
