Phantom Armor sets are level 100 upgradeable armor sets that were introduced with patch 7.25 in Dawntrail. To upgrade these sets, players must obtain specific items from the oc field operations series. These requisite items cannot be traded with other players.

There are currently 3 stages: Arcanaut's Armor, Arcanaut's Armor +1, and Arcanaut's Armor +2. All armor pieces are IL 745. Upgrading the armor does not change them visually or increase item level. The only bonuses that are provided from upgrades are additional primary attributes (strength, dexterity, intelligence, mind) based on the player's regular job and Special Attribute, which increases damage done by phantom job actions. These bonuses are only active within Occult Crescent areas.
Arcanaut's Armor +2
The final upgrade to the Arcanaut's Armor and by far the most difficult to obtain. This armor can be purchased from the Expedition Armorer in oc 37.6,7.1. Each +2 armor piece costs the corresponding +1 armor piece, 3 Aetherspun Gold, and 6 X-Fixative.

Aetherspun Gold can only be obtained as rare drops from random bronze or silver treasure coffers within oc.

X-Fixative can be purchased from the Expedition Antiquarian for 10 Sanguinite each. These items are primarily obtained from the high-end raid oc. Players will receive a total of 30 Sanguinite per clear run with all personal spoils coffers opened (see the duty page for more details on loot distribution). Alternatively, they will receive 2 Sanguinite as drops from the Sanguine Recluse special enemy in the South Horn overworld, which only spawns when a group of players completes the secret puzzle within the Forked Tower in the current instance.

In theory, it is possible to obtain this armor without entering Forked Tower, but it will take a very long time to obtain the requisite items from the special enemy only.

These cannot drop from Persistent Pot or Happy Bunny coffers.

Upgrading Novus to Nexus
Players needs to speak to Jalzahn in North Shroud (x29,y19) with their Novus Weapon equipped. After completing the quest, players can speak to Jalzahn to choose the weapon to soulglaze. If you are a paladin, make sure to soulglaze both the Curtana Novus and Holy Shield Novus prior to farming "light". With the soulglazed Novus weapon equipped, player will earn light by completing dungeons, trials, FATEs, Treasure Hunt, Alexandrite Maps, and PvP. After gaining enough light and returning to Jalzahn (option "Relic Weapon Novus Enhancement"), the Novus weapon will transform into a Nexus weapon.

*You can't get light from The Hunt, Guildhests or any duties in expansions after A Realm Reborn.
*The Borderland Ruins (Secure) is the only PvP content that still gives Brilliant light as of Patch 6.1.
**This is almost certainly due to the fact that The Borderland Ruins (Secure) is the only form of PvP available when the weapons were introduced that still remains available.
*Undersized Party will gain you light, making speedrunning low level content an alternative to long queues.

Different activities give different amounts of light. Light earned will appear in the chat log after completing the activity. Light levels are Feeble Light (least light), Gentle Light, Blinding Light, Brilliant Light and Newborn Star (most light).

*Each type of Light has a secret value that advances your Novus into Nexus. Players will need to reach 2000 light points.

*Once the weapon's aetheric activity level has reached "bursting" (2000 light points), speak with Jalzahn in North Shroud (x29,y19) again, and select the "Relic Weapon Novus Enhancement" option to upgrade to Nexus.
*Each event you complete has its base value and a bonus, which is usually the tier above it. (NOTE: Bonuses switch out every 2 hours)
*For high level jobs, unrestricted runs of The Aurum Vale should be the quickest content for farming light.
*FATEs in other expansions also give light, but this isn't recommended solo since your weapon is only iLevel 110.
**This also includes Eureka Notorious Monsters and Elemental Conflicts (Bunny Fates), as well as The Bozjan Southern Front/Zadnor Skirmishes. Critical Engagements do NOT give light.
**Note that Bozja/Zadnor scales gear up so your low weapon iLvl won't be an issue. Eureka doesn't scale gear, though if many people are in the zone and you're in a group, it won't be as big of an issue. Both are solid choices to passively gaining light while inside those forays.

Light Events
*Each event you complete has its base value and a bonus, which is usually the tier above it. (NOTE: Bonuses switch out every 2 hours)
*For high level jobs, unrestricted runs of The Aurum Vale should be the quickest content for farming light.
*FATEs in other expansions also give light, but this isn't recommended solo since your weapon is only iLevel 110.
**This also includes Eureka Notorious Monsters and The Bozjan Southern Front/Zadnor Skirmishes. Critical Engagements do NOT give light.
**Eureka is not recommended as well due to weapon iLevel, but Bozja/Zadnor scales gear up, making it a solid (albeit slow) choice if you're going there for other purposes!
He will send you to Rowena in Revenant's Toll - who in turn will direct you to G'jusana who is nearby. After speaking to G'jusana, the quest will move to your "completed quest log".
You must finish all the tasks in one book before completing the next - however you can complete the books in any order. Each book will improve a stat on your Atma Zodiac Weapon.
Each book belong to one of four categories. Each category improves a stat on your Atma Zodiac Weapon and each category is called a different name depending on the job. However, the books themselves and the tasks inside them remain the same regardless of your job.
Notes
*You can only ever own one book at a time. Each book is specific to a weapon and you must be equipped with the Atma Relic Weapon you wish to enhance when making the purchase.
*Must equip the corresponding weapon in order for any completed task to be registered.
*Buying a second book will automatically dispose of the first one. If the first book has not been completed it will need to be redone.
*For FATEs:
**You can achieve bronze and still have it count.
**Each map has a maximum number of FATEs available at any one time. Therefore you may need to clear other FATEs in order to get the one you need to spawn.
**Some FATEs will only spawn when triggered (either by talking to an NPC at the location or in a nearby location; or after the completion of a previous FATE as part of a chain). Examples:
***fate-defense requires fate-enemies to be successfully completed first. fate-enemies is triggered by talking to Mianne Thousandmalm at Larkscall, East Shroud (x27,y21).
***fate-boss requires fate-enemies to be successfully completed first
***fate-boss requires fate-enemies to be successfully completed first.
***fate-boss is triggered by speaking to the Storm Private at Kobold Dig, Outer La Noscea (x24,y16).
***fate-escort is triggered by speaking to the Wary Merchant at Camp Bluefog, Northern Thanalan (x21,y29).
***fate-enemies is triggered by speaking to the House Haillenarte Guard at Boulder Downs, Coerthas Central Highlands (x10,y28).
*For Dungeons:
**Dungeons can be completed unsynched.
**You must have your Atma Zodiac Weapon equipped for the final boss for it to count (Source). You can equip a stronger high-level weapon to make the dungeon go faster, but DON'T FORGET to re-equip your Atma weapon prior to engaging and killing the final boss, or else you'll have to re-run the entire dungeon to get credit.
**You must be alive when the final boss of the dungeon is killed. If you are dead, it will not count towards completion of the book (Source).
*For Levequests:
**General levequests and Grand Company levequests are given out by two different NPCs at each location. Make sure you are talking to the correct one.
**Only a limited number of levequests are offered at any one time. You may need to complete some of the levequests in order to have the one you need pop up.
***If you're low on allowances, be sure to check all 3 zones for any of the leves you need prior to completing the others you don't. Completing a levequest in any zone will reset the list for all zones.
**Levequests are only counted as "completed" when you collect the reward from the Levemete, as such, it is possible to do the leve with another weapon (or another class altogether) and switch back to your Atma before collecting the rewards, and it will still count.
*Your last book will still remain in your Key Item Inventory after completion. To remove it, simply return to G'jusana and select the Disposal option.
*This is a good opportunity for you to train your Chocobo if you wish.

Upgrading Zodiac Braves to Zodiac Zeta
Quests: feature* & feature

The upgrade is comprised of 12 Mahatmas of the original Atmas. To upgrade your weapon, you must awaken the Soul of your weapon through a method similar to Novus light farming. You need 40 points to awaken each Mahatmas. You can obtain points from dungeons and trials. Progress can be viewed from the Zodiac Glass. You will also be notified when ascension is complete in the chat log.

1. Talk to Remon in Swiftperch to complete feature. Once the quest is complete, you can now have Remon attach Mahatma to your weapon.

2. Immediately talk to Remon again to attach the first available Mahatma for 50 Allagan Tomestone of Poetics.

3. Complete each of the 12 Mahatmas individually by running dungeons, raids, or fates until your "Mahatma fully awakens a sense of assertion within your Zodiac Weapon".

4. After each Mahatma awakens, speak with Remon to attach the next available Mahatma. Repeat the process for all 12 Mahatmas.

5. Speak with Jalzahn at the North Shroud and select "Zodiac Weapon of Awakening".

Note: Mahatma's bonus window is the same as Novus bonus window.

Note: You must have the relic weapon equipped on the last boss of the dungeon or trial in order to get light credit.

Note: Dungeons can also be completed undersized. As such, a convenient way to farm light points solo is The Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Level 16). Each run will give you 24 points when not on bonus, meaning 2 runs will complete the current Mahatma. Each run can be completed solo by any level 70 class in under 4 minutes in most cases. Remember that you can keep your normal weapon equipped until the last boss for quicker kills.
After finishing a Mahatma, you can get the next one from Remon in Swiftperch for 50 Allagan Tomestone of Poetics. You need to complete all 12, in order, to upgrade your weapon. They are ordered as follows:

Upgrading Novus to Nexus
Players needs to speak to Jalzahn in North Shroud (x29,y19) with their Novus Weapon equipped. After completing the quest, players can speak to Jalzahn to choose the weapon to soulglaze. If you are a paladin, make sure to soulglaze both the Curtana Novus and Holy Shield Novus prior to farming "light". With the soulglazed Novus weapon equipped, player will earn "light" by completing dungeons, trials, FATEs, Treasure Hunt, Alexandrite Maps, and PvP. After gaining enough "light" and returning to Jalzahn (option "Relic Weapon Novus Enhancement"), the Novus weapon will transform into a Nexus weapon.

*You can't get "light" from The Hunt, Guildhests or Heavensward dungeons and trials.
*Most forms of PvP give no light, but The Borderland Ruins (Secure) still gives Brilliant light as of Patch 6.1.
*Undersized Party will gain you light, making speedrunning low level content an alternative to long queues.

Different activities give different amounts of "light". "Light" earned will appear in the chat log after completing the activity. Light levels are Feeble Light (least "light"), Gentle Light, Blinding Light, Brilliant Light and Newborn Star (most "light").

*Each type of Light has a secret value that advances your Novus into Nexus. Players will need to reach 2000 "light" points.

*Once the weapon's aetheric activity level has reached "bursting" (2000 "light" points), speak with Jalzahn in North Shroud (x29,y19) again, and select the "Relic Weapon Novus Enhancement" option to upgrade to Nexus.
Eurekan Gear Sets are level 70 relic gear sets, that were introduced with Stormblood. Released in patch 4.25, players can obtain the first set of Eureka Gear after clearing the level 70 job quest and gaining access to The Forbidden Land, Eureka Anemos. Unlike the Eurekan Weapons some Eurekan Gear Sets are acquired individually without having to complete previous steps of Eurekan Gear.
Alongside the Eurekan Gear Sets players can also obtain the Eurekan Weapons.
Vath Daily Quests are the the Beast Tribe Quests for the The Gnath race. Players can find the Vath quest-givers at Loth ast Vath in The Dravanian Forelands (x24,y20).
__TOC__
Unlock
To unlock The Vath Daily Quests, players must complete the level 50 quest The Naming of Vath. Players can start the quest in The Dravanian Forelands by speaking to Vath Storyteller (x24,y20). Players must have completed the Main Story Quest Lord of the Hive.

After unlocking the beast tribe daily quests, players will be able to undertake several quests which change on a daily basis. By completing them, players can improve their reputation with the Vath. At certain milestones, you will be given the opportunity to undertake main beast tribe quests, which are episodic quests that provide insight into the lives of the Vath.

Level Sync
The Vath main quests and daily quests will employ an automatic level adjustment system known as quest sync, which will match the difficulty of the battles to the player's current job and class levels. Any experience received upon the completion of these quests will be adjusted accordingly. Furthermore, players will not be allowed to proceed with a class or job that is different than when they accepted any of these quests.

Ranks
Lore
The Vath are insect-like beastmen linked in thought, compelled to serve only the Onemind. Should their link to him be severed, they are cast out from the colony, left to fend for themselves in the wilds. A number of these offscourings, known as the Nonmind, have built a community for their fellow exiles. What trials and tribulations must they overcome to truly separate themselves from the Onemind?

Polarthief: /* Unlocking and hiring Retainers */ changed 6 additional retainers to 7 as you can now get 7 additional.

Retainer Ventures
Introduction
Retainers can store items and gil for you and sell items on the Market. In 2.2 players can use their retainers for Retainer Ventures. Players can assign their retainers classes and give them gear. Then players can send them out for expeditions for items and experience. Retainers with a class can level up by performing Retainer Ventures, but their maximal level depends on the player's level in the same class.

Unlocking and hiring Retainers
Retainers are unlocked after completing the Main Story Quest The Scions of the Seventh Dawn (Quest).
To Unlock Ventures and Retainer Classes, you must complete the quest An Ill-conceived Venture (Side Quest).

Players can hire Retainers by talking to a Retainer Vocate near the Marketboard of the 3 main cities. By default, you can only hire two Retainers, but you can add up to 7 additional retainers (for a total of 9) from the Mog Station on the Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone. The FFXIV Companion App also gives you an extra retainer (past that 9 for a total of 10) if upgraded to premium, alongside double Chocobo Saddlebag space.

Using Retainers
To interact with your retainer, use the Summoning Bell found in Inn rooms, the markets of the 3 main cities, residential areas and other locations such as Revenants Toll. Pick the retainer in question from the menu if you have more than one. You'll then be given a menu of options:

*Entrust or withdraw items from your retainer: Opens the retainer inventory alongside yours to manage items. Retainers have 7 tabs of 25 slots each for a total of 175 items. You cannot give them items to equip with this option.

*Entrust or withdraw gil from your retainer: Opens up an exchange menu for gil. There is not much of a reason to store your gil with a retainer, but any gil earned from selling items on the market by the retainer will be deposited here

*Sell items from your inventory on the market: Opens up your inventory to select items you want the retainer to sell. Each retainer has 20 slots for selling items.

*Sell items from your retainer's inventory on the market: Opens up the retainer inventory to select items you want the retainer to sell. Each retainer has 20 slots for selling items.

*View sale history: Accesses a list of recent sales made by the retainer.

*Assign class: Only available if the retainer has no current class. The four options below will appear instead if the retainer does. A level 1 primary weapon or tool of the class must be in the players armory or inventory to assign the class.

*Assign Venture: Assign the retainer a venture if they aren't on one or have a report waiting. Retainer Ventures

*View Report: Only available after the retainer has finished their venture. Shows the result of the venture, transfers the item rewards to your inventory and grants the retainer the experience earned. After the result window is closed, they can be assigned a new venture.

*View Retainer attributes and gear: Displays a screen similar to the character screen for the player with the attributes and equipped gear. This screen is also used to equip and unequip gear on the retainer, but this cannot be done while the retainer is on a venture.

*Reset retainer class (retainer class level): removes the class from the retainer so a new one can be assigned. Experience gained in the old class is lost permanently. Cannot be done while the retainer is on a venture.

*Assign retainer job: Adds a soul stone to the retainers equipment allowing them to equip job specific gear. Assignment of jobs requires book purchased from a Retainer Vocate for 40 ventures.

*Quit: Ends the interaction with your retainer.

You can access your retainers at any time, even in the middle of a venture. However, they will stop selling on the market until the interaction is complete.

Article
Funnily enough, the Retainer isn’t actually a piece of equipment that your character can wear on their face, but instead it allows them the chance to summon their own, personal NPC that has a number of different uses that I will get into in just a moment. Firstly, let’s find out how we actually get hold of the item, first and foremost!

To gain access to the Retainer system, you’re going to need to have completed The Scions of the Seventh Dawn (Quest) story quest first of all to gain access to it. Once you’ve done that mission for your character you’re going to need to locate a Retainer Vocate to hire one. There are a maximum of 3 different Retainer Vocates that you can speak to, so that you can finally hire yourself a Retainer.

These NPC’s that you need to talk to, so you can hire a Retainer are as follows:

*Parnell – Can be found at Gridania
*Chachabi – Can be found in Ul'dah
*Frydwyb – Can be found in Limsa Lominsa

So, you’ve just hired your first Retainer; now what happens next? Well, you’re treated to creating your Retainer with whatever look you’d like them to go for, similar to that of the character creation screen that you see whenever you first create a new character.

After you’ve decided on the look of your Retained, you are then given the option to choose from 6 different personalities for the character, but what that essentially boils down to is the sort of dialogue you will see when interacting with the character; nothing too special.

Now that you’ve set up your Retainer, it’s time to figure out what you can actually do with them; with the main one being using them as either bank storage or your own, personal marketplace that you can set up anywhere in the game.

I’ll start off with using them as bank storage and it’s exactly as it sound; they have certain amount of storage space inside their backpack, storage space that you have full reign to use as you see fit. Plan on selling a bunch of junk when you can be asked to do so? Just store it in your Retainer and take them out of that character to do with it as you please. With this storage system, you can also store Gil into the Retainer, so that if you don’t wish to carry a mad amount of cash around with you everywhere you go, simply hide it inside your Retainer and you know it will be safe and sound in there.

Moving onto the more major use of the Retainer as your own, personal marketplace allows you to set up the character in whatever friendly city you feel could get you the most attention and amount of customers and leave them be to do all the hard work. All you’ve got to do is set up some items that you intend to sell to anyone who is interested and then once you’re done, enjoy the more fun and enjoyable aspect of the game while your own NPC/Retainer makes you money for dealing with your unwanted items that you have no need for.

This is a great system and prevents players from being forced to sit around and barter with other players, without completely stripping them of the opportunity to do as such.

Polarthief: /* FATEs */ Added the line regarding the failure reward as well as the spawn timer for Part 3.

Coeurlregina is a giant coeurl with massive antlers. Coeurlregina is a Boss FATE consisting of a series of 3 FATEs introduced in Heavensward (3.0). Similar to Behemoth and Odin FATEs, all 3 parts of the series are hidden, meaning the FATE icon will not show on the map unless you are at the FATE. The FATEs are located in The Dravanian Forelands. The unique weather condition for all 3 FATEs is called Royal Levin.

In parts 1 and 2, she will flee the battle. The sky will be green.
In part 3, she will not flee the battle and will die with no gimmicks. The sky will be red.

FATEs
The first FATE is a level 52 FATE named Long Live The Coeurl. Players are awarded with 1 Coeurlregina Horn as a Gold completion reward.

The second FATE spawns about 4 hours after the first FATE. It is a level 57 FATE called Coeurls Chase Boys. Players will receive 3 Coeurlregina Horn as a Gold completion reward.

The third FATE spawns about 4 hours after the second FATE. It is a level 60 FATE named Coeurls Chase Boys Chase Coeurls. Players will receive 5 Coeurlregina Horn as a Gold completion reward. Getting a Gold failure still rewards you with 2 horns.

Part 3: Spawns at (X12, Y10), (X30, Y5), or (X10, Y36). 4 hour spawn timer after the second fate completes, but requires the next weather change (which can take 30 minutes or even more).

Third Fate Mechanics
She cleaves as melee, not single target. Uses High Caterwaul and Low Caterwaul. High Caterwaul drops a red circle on a player that will paralyze you if hit, plus a pack of damage. Low Caterwaul is an AoE close around her and gives Hysteria.

She will randomly vomit which drops sludge around her and give doom, it can be removed with Leeches/Esuna/Exalted Detriment.

Warning for DPS/Healers, she will randomly glow purple and position her whiskers before activating. It will 1 shot anyone that's not a tank, any tanks under Shield Oath/Grit/Inner Beast will survive it or super stacked HP.

If she points them at the front, she will hit her front/sides, pointing backwards, Side/Rear. These shocks give paralyze if you survive it. You got time to run away if you're unsure for the safe zone, she takes 5 seconds to activate shocks after glowing. Have CDs ready for the shocks, it will hurt without SS/Adlo.

Reward Exchange
Players can exchange Coeurlregina Horn to Bertana at Idyllshire (x5.8, y5.2) under the Uncanny Knickknacks option. 6 horns equal a Spotted Fedora or Spotted Spencer.
