Triple Triad is a card battle mini-game originally from Final Fantasy VIII. It was released alongside Gold Saucer in patch 2.51. Players can collect Triple Triad Cards from various sources. Winning a Triple Triad match against a Triple Triad NPC will earn the player Manderville Gold Saucer Points and sometimes new cards.

*Quest: other
*Prerequisite Quest: feature
*Level 15

The Battlehall
The Battlehall is an instanced area where players within the same data center can challenge each other to Triple Triad matches. It is accessible from any location via the Duty Finder.

Cards
After the initial launch of Triple Triad in patch 2.51, eighty cards were available. About half of those cards are obtainable by defeating Triple Triad NPCs. The other half are purchasable with Manderville Gold Saucer Points, rewarded from Triple Triad Tournaments, obtained randomly from card packs, and looted from dungeons, trials and other duties.

After obtaining a new card, you can permanently add it to your card list. If you gain a card that is already in your card list, you can sell the spare card for MGP MGP by talking to the Triple Triad NPC in the Gold Saucer (X:4, Y:7). Note that you cannot trade cards with other players or sell them for gil.

Card use restrictions
Cards have five rarities: common (★), uncommon (★★), rare (★★★), epic (★★★★) and legendary (★★★★★).

You can have as many rare or lower cards per deck as you like, but you may only have up to two epic or legendary cards, with only one legendary allowed per deck.
(Be aware that NPC's Don't follow this particular rule, just the players.)

Build a deck
You can create five pre-made decks, with each deck containing five cards in total. You can build decks by going to the Gold Saucer Menu and selecting the Card Decks sub-menu.

Faction Cards
Certain cards have an icon on the upper right corner that represents a specific faction – "Primal", "Beastmen", "Scion", or "Garlean". These faction cards come into play during specific rules.

How to play
Challenge NPCs
Players can discover multiple NPCs throughout Eorzea that can be challenged to Triple Triad matches. To challenge an NPC to a match, you must first pay a small MGP MGP fee. If you are victorious, you are rewarded with MGP MGP and also have a chance to win cards from them, though bear in mind that different NPCs reward different cards and that you cannot acquire a card from a 'draw' or 'loss', only victories.

NPCs which the player has not beaten before, will have a Triple Triad marker above the NPC's head with an exclamation mark.

NPCs which the player has beaten, but still have cards available that are not in the player's deck, will have a Triple Triad marker above the NPC's head with a star.

List of Triple Triad NPCs

Challenge Players
Players can also challenge other players to Triple Triad and even select the special rules that will be used for the match. When playing in this manner, no MGP MGP fee is incurred, though you still receive a small amount of MGP MGP regardless of whether you win or lose the match.

The first five matches of the day earn you additional MGP MGP via a daily reward, resetting at 12 AM (JST) / 7 AM (PST) / 10 AM (EST) / 3 PM (GMT).

Players can only challenge other players in specific areas, such as:

* The Manderville Gold Saucer
* Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks, Adventurers' Guild (X:11.2 Y:11.2)
* New Gridania, Adventurers' Guild (X:11.9 Y:13.3)
* Ul'dah - Steps of Nald, Adventurers' Guild (X:11.8 Y:9.2)
* Eastern La Noscea, Costa del Sol (X:33.6 Y:30.5)
* South Shroud, Buscarron's Druthers (X:18.0 Y:19.9)
* Central Thanalan, The Coffer & Coffin (X:19.6 Y:20.5)
* Coerthas, The Observatorium (X:25.0 Y:28.0)
* Mor Dhona, Seventh Heaven (X:21.9 Y:8.6)
* Idyllshire, The Snail (X:4.9 Y:7.4)
* Foundation, The Forgotten Knight (X:13.0 Y:11.9)
* Rhalgr's Reach (X:9.8 Y:9.7)
* Kugane, Shiokaze Hostelry (X:10.2 Y:10.0)
* The Lochs, The Ala Mhigan Quarter (X:35.0 Y:32.2)
* The Crystarium
* Eulmore, The Canopy

Rules
Basic rules
Triple Triad is played on a three-by-three grid, totaling nine spaces, with each player utilizing a deck of 5 cards. Every card has a number on each side to represent the strength of that side. Once the match begins, a player is chosen at random to go first, then each player uses their turn to place a card on an empty space on the board.

During standard rules, if you place a card next to an opponent's card, and if the number facing the opponent's card is higher than their number, you take over the opponent's card. After all nine spaces on the board have been filled, the winner is the player who controls the most cards. Note that the unplaced 10th card is also counted.

Special rules
Various rules alter the way the game is played.

For example, NPCs are affected by 'regional rules' which reset at 7 AM PST /10 AM EST every day, though there are certain NPCs that are immune to this. Regional rules are also applied when playing against other players. Also, each NPC has its own 'match rules'. When challenging another player, you can set your own match rules yourself. It's possible to have two match rules and two regional rules affect a PvP match at once.

All Open
While this rule is in play, all five cards in each deck are made visible to both players.

Three Open
While this rule is in play, three random cards in each deck are made visible to both players.

Same
A rule that alters how cards are captured. If the numbers of two or more cards are the same as the numbers on the adjacent sides of the card you place, you gain control of every matching card. For example, if your card has "3" on all sides and you place it between two cards that have a "3" facing your card, you capture both of those cards. Note that only one of the two or more matching cards needs to belong to your opponent for the 'Same' mechanic to take effect.

Sudden Death
When "Sudden Death" is in effect, any match that ends in a draw will be restarted from turn one rather than end the match. Your deck for this new match will consist of the cards you had control over at the end of the previous game. Sudden Death will continue until one player wins or until five more consecutive draws take place, at which point the game will end in a tie.

Plus
A rule that alters how cards are captured. If the numbers of two or more cards have the same total when added to the numbers on the adjacent sides of the card you place, you gain control of every matching card. For example, if the card you place has "3" on top and "2" on the left, and your opponent's cards to the top and left have "4" and "5" respectively, you capture those two cards. This is because 3 + 4 = 5 + 2. Similar to the 'Same' rule, 'Plus' will take effect whenever the placed card touches two other cards, regardless of who controls them. They do not have to be two opposing cards.

Random
While this rule is in play, your chosen deck will be replaced with five cards selected at random from your entire card list.

Order
While this rule is in play, you are required to play each card in the order that it appears in your deck.

Chaos
While this rule is in play, the only card you can play each turn is randomly selected from your deck.

Reverse
While this rule is in play, the conditions for capturing cards are inverted, making smaller numbers more powerful than larger numbers. For example, a "1" will capture a "6".

Fallen Ace
While this rule is in play, the all-powerful "A" becomes susceptible to capture by the lowly "1." If the 'Reverse' rule is also in play, a "1" will then become vulnerable to capture by an "A."

Ascension
During 'Ascension', if you place a faction card on the board – such as a "Primal" or "Scion" card – all cards of that faction will gain +1, including those held in your deck and your opponent's deck. Any card that increases to "11" or higher is treated as an "A" rank.

Descension
During 'Descension', if you place a faction card on the board – such as a "Garlean" or "Beastman" card – all cards of that faction decrease by 1, including those held in your deck and your opponent's deck. Any number that is decreased to "0" or less as a result of this rule will be treated as a "1".

Swap
While this rule is in play, one card from your deck is switched with one of your opponent's cards before the match begins. The cards to be swapped are chosen at random and are returned to their original owners at the end of the game.

Roulette
When the "Roulette" rule is in effect, the advanced rules for the match will be chosen at random.

Combo
A Combo is only available during 'Same' and 'Plus' rules. If you capture cards as a result of Same or Plus mechanics, and if those captured cards lie adjacent to "weaker" cards (i.e. cards with smaller numbers on the neighboring sides), those cards will fall under your control as well.

Draft
Draft is an advanced rule released in Patch 5.4 of Shadowbringers. When the Draft rule is in effect, participants will not have access to their individual decks and must instead play using cards provided by the Gold Saucer.

Building a Deck
Three sets of randomly generated cards will be displayed before the match begins. Participants must choose one option from each set to build their deck, which will then be locked in for the duration of the competition. The Recommended button may be pressed instead to automatically choose the strongest cards available.

Tournaments
Players can compete in tournaments against some of the best Triad Triple players to win whopping MGP MGP rewards and some of the rarest cards in the game. However, Triple Triad tournaments only occur at specific dates and times.

Entering Open Tournaments and Invitational Tournaments
Open tournaments and Invitational tournaments are released in Patch 5.4 of Shadowbringers. Allowing up to eight players and requiring no MGP MGP for admission, these tournaments consist of three matches, making for a quick and easy way to enjoy Triple Triad with friends (or bitter rivals).

Requirements
After completing the quest other, speak with the Open Tournament Official in the Gold Saucer (X:4.5 Y:7.4) to unlock these new tournament modes.

Sizing up your opponent
During a tournament, players can now confirm their opponents' number of wins and losses. Moreover, players on the PlayStation®4 can view their opponents' PSN ID.

Withdrawing from tournaments
In the event a player logs out during a match, cards will be played automatically on their turn at the end of the 5 second grace period.
* Matches will be forfeit in the event you are offline when they begin.

Open tournaments
These tournaments are periodically held events employing the new "Draft" ruleset. Players will use a single deck and participate in three matches.

Participating
Speak with the Open tournament official in the Gold Saucer to register for the next available competition. The tournament will begin when 8 participants have been assembled or once the requisite amount of time has elapsed since the registration period began. If there are fewer than 8 participants available, NPCs will sit in for any missing players. Please note that you cannot be joined in a party when registering to compete.

Rewards
MGP MGP, Triple Triad Cards, and other prizes will be awarded at the end of a tournament, with final rankings and win rate determining the reward amount.

Invitational tournaments
These tournaments follow the same basic structure as Open tournaments, with the main difference being that there are no rewards on offer. Participants may also register at any time as either a solo player or as a party. When registering as a party, the party leader can freely choose a tournament rule set.

Participating
Players can register to enter the Triple Triad Invitational Parlor and participate in these tournaments at any time via the Duty Finder. In the case that a player registers solo, or a party has less than 8 members, the missing numbers will be made up by Triple Triad regulars or Gold Saucer employees.

Rewards
There are no rewards on offer for this tournament format.

Additional information
Participating in Tournaments:

Players can sign up to participate in ongoing tournaments by speaking with the Tournament Recordkeeper at the Card Square in the Manderville Gold Saucer (X:4, Y:7). It should also be noted that, in addition to players, NPCs located within the Card Square can also participate in tournaments.

*Players must first complete a tutorial match with the Triple Triad Master before participating in any tournaments.

Tournament Rules:

Tournament participants can only play a set number of matches per tournament, with every match played counting toward their final scores. This score will increase for every match won, with more points being awarded for defeating higher-ranked opponents. Each tournament has a fixed set of special rules that tournament matches must follow. This does not apply to regional rules.

Tournament Rankings:

Players can view the standings for ongoing tournaments at any time by either speaking with the Tournament Recordkeeper at the Card Square in the Manderville Gold Saucer (X:4, Y:7) or examining the nearby Tournament Ranking Board. Scores will be locked the moment the tournament ends, and these numbers will determine the final rankings.

When two or more players share the same score at the end of a tournament, rank is then determined by the greatest number of wins. If wins are also equal, then the rank will be decided by the least number of matches played. Should match numbers also be equal, then the higher rank will go to the participant who first recorded a result on the tournament ranking board.

Unlock
*Starting NPC: Triple Triad Master in The Gold Saucer (X:4, Y:7).

* The Manderville Gold Saucer
* Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks, Adventurers' Guild (X:11.2 Y:11.2)
* New Gridania, Adventurers' Guild (X:11.9 Y:13.3)
* Ul'dah - Steps of Nald, Adventurers' Guild (X:11.8 Y:9.2)
* Eastern La Noscea, Costa del Sol (X:33.6 Y:30.5)
* South Shroud, Buscarron's Druthers (X:18.0 Y:19.9)
* Central Thanalan, The Coffer & Coffin (X:19.6 Y:20.5)
* Coerthas, The Observatorium (X:25.0 Y:28.0)
* Mor Dhona, Seventh Heaven (X:21.9 Y:8.6)
* Idyllshire, The Snail (X:4.9 Y:7.4)
* Foundation, The Forgotten Knight (X:13.0 Y:11.9)
* Rhalgr's Reach (X:9.8 Y:9.7)
* Kugane, Shiokaze Hostelry (X:10.2 Y:10.0)
* The Lochs, The Ala Mhigan Quarter (X:35.0 Y:32.2)
* The Crystarium
* Eulmore, The Canopy

Rules

Players can fall off the arena. The boss is confined to a single side of the arena. Staying near the center of the arena most of the time allows quicker response to most mechanics.

Kokytos

At the start of the fight, and periodically starting in Phase 2, Zodiark reduces everyone's HP to 1, requiring rapid healing. This is always followed by another mechanic that does not deal damage immediately, so healers have at least a couple GCDs to get everyone healed back up.

Exoterikos

Zodiark shoots a beam at the side of the arena, where a triangle or square will soon appear. If a triangle appears, a cone attack will come out of it. Move towards the side of the arena with the triangle, but not directly in front of it. The triangle runs from the mid-point of the side it is on to roughly the two opposing corners. If a square appears, that half of the arena will be hit by the attack, so simply move to the other side of the arena opposite the square.

The beams and spawning animations are color-coded. The triangle is a purple beam with a blue and purple rune at the target location, while the square is a red/pink beam and rune.

In phase 1, Zodiark uses Exoterikos twice in succession, spawning a triangle on the right (east) side of the arena, followed by a square on the left (west) side. Usage of the ability in Phase 2 is randomized.

Ania

Tankbuster.  Moderate damage, rarely used.

Styx

Extremely high damage stack marker. Everyone should to stack, and remain stacked, as it hits multiple times for extreme damage. The healers should pop cooldowns and cast AoE heals repeatedly until the attack ends.

Paradeigma

Summons one of two mechanics: either behemoths or snakes. The behemoths spawn in pairs, each creating an AoE circles that covers on quadrant (and a bit) of the arena, leaving the other two quadrants (mostly) safe. The snakes spawn two line AoEs across the platform, each taking up a quarter of the width of the platform in that direction. There's always a safe spot between the two snakes, and another on one of the two sides of the snakes.

In Phase 1, Zodiark casts PAradeigma twice in succession. The first is behemoths in the front left (NW) and back right (SE) corners. The second is snakes on the right side of the arena, creating safe zones at the very front (north) and backwards (south) of the midpoint.

Adikia

Two fist blows hit the left and right side of the arena, creating two large circles that meet in the center of the arena. This leave two curved cones as safe spots, one in the front (north) near Zodiark and one in the back (south).

Phlegeton

Three waves of AoEs appear under the players. Keep moving.

----

Complete Control

Phase transition.

Astral Flow

Used immediately after most casts of Paradeigma in this phase, but before those attacks hit. The floor will rotate 90 degrees, with all players held in place. The direction the stage will rotate will be indicated by arrows. Note that the mechanics are the ones doing the rotating, not the players. The players will be frozen in place, and the platform, along with mechanics and telegraph zones, will rotate in the direction of the arrows. Stand so you won't be hit by any monsters after the stage finishes rotating. Depending on the attacks on the field, you may need to stand in am orange telegraph marker area to be safe after the stage finishes rotating.

For example, if behemoths spawn in the front-left and back-left corners, with the arrows pointing left (counter-clockwise), the attacks will ultimately hit the back-left and back-right corners (the telegraphs/attacks rotated counter-clockwise), so the safe zones would be either of the front areas.

Triple Esoteric Ray

Three lasers will shoot across the field in the order they appear. These attacks don't linger, so the moment the laser appears it is safe to walk into the effect. The laser appear in one of two sequences, either the left and right side of the arena with the center safe, then the center laser fires, or vice versa (center then left and right).

Algedon

Zodiark strikes across the entire stage, pushing anyone he hits to their death. This attack's AoE marker is extremely short. It is indicated by Zodiark going to the front-left or front-right corner of the arena, and striking across the arena diagonally. When you see Zodiark move to the corner of the stage, dodge to the other corner so the attack misses you (for example, if he goes to the front-left corner, the safe zones would be the front-right and back-left_, or use a power that makes you immune to knockback.

Astral Eclipse

Zodiark relives the Final Days, becoming untargetable and flying around the arena in a counter clock wise direction, calling down stars to strike the platform. On each of the 3 other sides of the platform, Zodiark will spawn a long tether from the center of the platform to a pattern of stars in the sky off that side of the platform. The stars indicate where the damage zones on the platform will be, with the platform being divided into a 3x3 grid. Note that the "bottom" of the stars as seen from the platform is the side of the platform nearer to the start pattern, while the top is the side of the platform farther from those stars. In effect, the AoE patterns seen in the sky are the way the AoE circles on the platform would be seen from below, not above (for example, if the top-left of the pattern is empty, that means the back-left, as you are looking at that pattern, is safe)

In normal mode, Zodiark has only 3 patterns of stars:

*  |  *    *  |    *
* * *  |          |  * * *
*      |  *    *  |    *

Note that these are oriented as seen from the platform. The safe zones for the first pattern are in the back-left and front-right, as you're facing that star pattern in the sky. If the patterns appeared in this order, the safe zones would be the south-east and north-west, followed by the center or middle-edges, followed by any of the 4 corners.

Zodiark appears to always summon the leftmost pattern above (the zig-zag pattern) as the first pattern, then the other two in a random order.

Trimorphos Exoterikos

Zodiark places three Exoterikos attacks in sequence, one on each of the other 3 sides of the platform in a random order. Sometimes this attack requires movement between the attacks, sometimes one quadrant is simply safe from all of them.

As the fight continues, the attacks come faster and begin to overlap more and more. This acts as a soft enrage timer. In particular, watch out for overlaps of Exoterikos and either Paradeigma or Adikia, as these can result in restricted safe zones.

Unlock
*Starting NPC: Triple Triad Master in The Gold Saucer (X:4, Y:7).
*Quest: Triple Triad Trial
*Prerequisite Quest: It Could Happen to You

If you gain a card that is already in your card list, you can sell the spare card for MGP by talking to the Triple Triad NPC in the Gold Saucer (X:4, Y:7).

To challenge an NPC to a match, you must first pay a small MGP fee. If you are victorious, you are rewarded with MGP and also have a chance to win cards from them, though bear in mind that different NPCs reward different cards and that you cannot acquire a card from a 'draw' or 'loss', only victories.

When playing in this manner, no MGP fee is incurred, though you still receive a small amount of MGP regardless of whether you win or lose the match.

The first five matches of the day earn you additional MGP via a daily reward, resetting at 12 AM (JST) / 7 AM (PST) / 10 AM (EST) / 3 PM (GMT).

Players can only challenge other players in specific areas, such as:

* The Manderville Gold Saucer
* Limsa Lominsa – Upper Decks, Adventurers' Guild (X:11.2 Y:11.2)
* New Gridania, Adventurers' Guild (X:11.9 Y:13.3)
* Ul'dah – Steps of Nald, Adventurers' Guild (X:11.8 Y:9.2)
* Eastern La Noscea, Costa del Sol (X:33.6 Y:30.5)
* South Shroud, Buscarron's Druthers (X:18.0 Y:19.9)
* Central Thanalan, The Coffer & Coffin (X:19.6 Y:20.5)
* Kugane, Shiokaze Hostelry (X:10.2 Y:10.0)
* The Lochs, The Ala Mhigan Quarter (X:35.0 Y:32.2)
* The Crystarium
* Eulmore, The Canopy

Rules
Basic Rules
Triple Triad is played on a three-by-three grid, totalling nine spaces, with each player utilizing a deck of 5 cards.

Note that the unplayed 10th card is also counted.

Reverse
While this rule is in play, the conditions for capturing cards are inversed, making smaller numbers more powerful than larger numbers.

If you capture cards as a result of Same or Plus mechanics, and if those captured cards lie adjacent to "weaker" cards (i.e. cards with smaller numbers on the neighbouring sides), those cards will fall under your control as well.

Tournaments
Players can compete in tournaments against some of the best Triad Triple players to win whopping MGP rewards and some of the rarest cards in the game. However, Triple Triad tournaments only occur at specific dates and times.

Entering Open Tournaments and Invitational Tournaments
Open tournaments and Invitational tournaments are released in Patch 5.4 of Shadowbringers. Allowing up to eight players and requiring no MGP for admission, these tournaments consist of three matches, making for a quick and easy way to enjoy Triple Triad with friends (or bitter rivals).

Requirements
After completing the quest Triple Triad Trial, speak with the Open Tournament Official in the Gold Saucer (X:4.5 Y:7.4) to unlock these new tournament modes.

Rewards
MGP, Triple Triad cards, and other prizes will be awarded at the end of a tournament, with final rankings and win rate determining the reward amount.

Reward Tier

Zurvan's Phases & Abilities
Zurvan utilizes the following moves and mechanics throughout a total of four phases.

Phase 1
The fight begins on a large platform divided into noticeable quarters which, as the fight progresses, eventually fall in a counterclockwise pattern starting from the east. Anyone standing on falling segments of the platform will immediately perish. When the last remaining quarter of the platform drops, Phase 2 begins.

*Metal Cutter is a frontal cleave that periodically targets the main tank. Due to this, the main-tank should make sure that Zurvan is faced away from the group until there is only one remaining segment of the platform left.

*Flare Star drops circular AoE's on random players which should be avoided.

Phase 2
Phase 2 begins after the last remaining section of the platform drops down, causing all remaining players to fall into a new arena.

*Zurvan will begin charging Soar, which will cause him to jump away from the arena once fully cast. During this, Zurvan will cast 2 line-AoE's from himself that should be avoided, followed by clones of Zurvan that will appear on the outer edges of the arena that will also cast line-AoE's in a similar manner.

*Flaming Halberd will occur shortly after Zurvan has leapt from the arena using Soar. At first, two players are targeted by waves of circular AoEs that will follow their movements. Targeted players should move away from the group to avoid inflicting unnecessary damage. Once complete, a flaming puddle will be left behind.

*Demonic Dive is cast immediately after Flaming Halberd at a random Healer, assuming one is alive. This is a basic stack-mechanic where players should group up to absorb as much damage as possible.

*After landing, Zurvan will turn towards a random player and begin casting Wave Cannon, an unmarked line-AoE that the target should side-step to avoid being damaged.

*Ice Puddle is a persistent AoE puddle centred on the boss (about the size of Zurvan's hitbox) which will inflict damage and slow the movement of anyone who stands within it.

*Biting Halberd can only be used after Ice Puddle, which is a massive conal AoE. To avoid being hit, players should move behind Zurvan himself.

*Southern Cross will cause multiple AoE's to target random players. Ideally, players should stack up so that these AoE's land on top of each other, providing more space to dodge the following mechanics.

*Ciclicle is a massive donut AoE, centred on Zurvan, that is cast immediately after Southern Cross. To avoid this attack, players must remain close to Zurvan himself.

*Tail End is a huge AoE cast straight after Ciclicle which is centred on Zurvan while he is in the middle of the room. To avoid this, players must move to the outer edges of the arena.

Phase 3
Phase 3 consists of dealing with multiple waves of adds.

*Wave 1 includes three Execrated Threw which spawn at the northern end of the arena. These should be picked up by a tank and burned down as soon as possible.

*Wave 2 involves a mixture of Execrated Threw and Execrated Will.

*Wave 3 contains two Execrated Will, which should be picked up by the tanks, and one Execrated Wit (caster add) which should be focused down by the rest of the party as soon as possible.

Phase 4
This phase begins after all adds are slain. For the most part, it is identical to Phase 2, except for a few additional abilities.

*Infinite Fire will be randomly assigned to a player which will be used to deal with Fire Meteor.

*Infinite Ice will be randomly assigned to a player which will be used to deal with Ice Meteor.

*Fire & Ice Meteors will begin descending around the arena in a triangular pattern, displayed as red or white. Players that were marked by Infinite Fire should stand within the red meteor, while players with Infinite Ice should stand within the white meteor. It is worth noting that only the marked player needs to stand in the appropriate meteor to soak damage. However, should meteors remain unsoaked, or if players stand in the wrong meteors, the entire party will be inflicted with a stack of Vulnerability.

Sophia's Phases & Abilities
Sophia utilizes the following moves and mechanics throughout a total of three phases.

Phase 1
*The fight begins with Thunder II, a large conal AoE aimed in the direction that Sophia is facing, immediately followed by Thunder III.

*Thunder III is a giant donut AoE emitted from Sophia with a safe spot just inside her hitbox. If players are far enough away, it can also be avoided by standing at max-range, depending on Sophia's position.

*Players must also be wary of Aero II, a large AoE centred on Sophia that deals moderate damage and inflicts a knockback. While neither fatal nor particularly difficult to avoid, players should respect this mechanic later in the fight seeing as the rails on the side of the arena will eventually collapse, allowing players to fall out of the arena to their deaths.

*Daughter, the lower-half of Sophia, will occasionally disappear from beneath her and materialize at the edges of the arena. After doing so, it will charge up and fire a straight line-AoE called Light Dew across the platform.

*Sophia Rush is much like the Daughter attack used by her lower half. Sophia herself will move to the eastern or western edge of the arena and charge a huge straight line-AoE across the platform that must be avoided.

*Sophia will eventually create Proximity Markers under the feet of players that they must move away from to avoid as much damage as possible.

Phase 2
*Sophia begins this phase by casting Cloudy Heavens, making herself invulnerable and marking all players with Eternal Doom. This debuff can only be cleared by defeating three adds.

*If players are fatally injured while affected by Eternal Doom, they will become mindless zombies, attacking their fellow teammates with no control over their actions.

*The First Demiruge is a Paladin-based add that utilizes AoE attacks and a directional parry. Players who attack the wrong side during the parry-mechanic will be knocked away. Ideally, this add should be focused last.

*The Second Demiruge is a Healer-based add which will heal the other adds and also uses a gaze mechanic to confuse any players looking directly at it. Ideally, this add should be slain first.

*The Third Demiruge is a Lancer-based add that will eventually drop a persistent ice puddle on the ground at its current position. Ideally, this add should be positioned at the side of the arena to prevent the puddle from being too obstructive during Phase 3 and the rest of the current add-phase.

Phase 3
For the most part, Phase 3 is very similar to Phase 1, apart from a few new additions.

*From here on, it will now be possible to fall off the platform, though players that do so for any reason can still be resurrected after a brief delay.

*Sophia will eventually use Quasar, which creates tethers to the east and west of the platform. Each of these tethers will spawn a meteor that will slowly fall towards a set of scales on both sides of the platform. Players must determine which side of the arena is safe by calculating the 'weight' of the meteors and moving to the side that weighs the least. On collision, the arena will tilt towards the side that weighs the most and send players sliding in that direction. The larger the weight-difference, the further players will slide.

*There are two types of Meteors that help calculate the tilt.

*Orange Meteors have a value of 1 and can appear on both sides of the arena.

*Blue Meteors have a value of 3 and will only appear on one side.

The best approach to this mechanic is to always move towards the opposite side of any Blue Meteors and stand at the very edge before the arena tilts.

*Players must also be mindful of the ice puddle left behind by The Third Demiruge during Phase 2. Before the scales tip, it is best to position yourself so that you don't slide through the puddle.

*Lastly, when Sophia reaches 15% health or less, she will spawn another Second Demiruge (healer-add) with the same abilities from Phase 2. However, despite being a healer, it cannot heal the boss. Depending on overall DPS, the group must decide between nuking the add to reduce the threat of its gaze attack, or have the off-tank move it away while the group focuses on Sophia to end the fight.

Bosses
Chieftain Moglin
Just like Thornmarch, this fight is primarily about managing the adds that spawn. However, this fight is much easier.

Moglin will periodically attempt to revive the adds; knock them away with abilities or auto-attack to prevent them from resurrecting. Healers should be on the lookout for Moglin casting Holy, which will do unavoidable AoE damage to the entire party.

Captain Mogsun - if he is alive and within range of Moglin, he'll tether to him and make him invincible. Take him down ASAP!

Resurrecting Moogles - Moogles of various classes will spawn throughout the fight. They're not too hard to kill, but as they die, Moglin will periodically drop purple AOE circles (kind of like the summoning circles from first boss of Haukke Hard) on the Moogles' corpses. Attack the corpses to knock them out of the circles, otherwise they'll be revived at full health (this applies to Captain Mogsun too). Be advised that if you knock the corpses to the edge of the arena, they can be quite difficult to move again should the need arise. Direct them toward the center instead, if possible.

Note: kill the 3 moogles when they spawn, then when he casts revive (the circles) shoot the dead moogles out of the circle then continue to kill the boss, then he will summon more moogles kill them and then he does those purples circles to try to revive them shoot them out again then repeat till boss dead!

* Kill the adds that spawn. Knock them out of the circles to prevent them from resurrecting.
* AoE heal through Moglin's casts of Holy.
* Otherwise, tank-and-spank.

Poqhiraj
This boss has several unavoidable AoEs, and is both a healer check and a positioning check for all members of the party.

Destructible Environment - the walls on either side of the corridor can be knocked down in chunks by certain attacks Poqhiraj uses. When they fall, they expose an electrified pool behind them. Avoid standing in it as it applies a DOT that deals heavy damage per tick and cannot be dispelled.

Jump - Poqhiraj jumps, becomes untargetable as one might expect, and prepares to land at one end of the corridor using a familiar proximity indicator from earlier encounters. This will deal party-wide damage based on how close you are to the landing spot. Run away from the indicator (to the other end of the platform) to avoid excess damage.

Charge - after landing, Poqhiraj charges down the corridor. This is unavoidable, and has a knockback effect as well. Players will take more damage the closer they are to the center, being knocked into the air if dead center. All players hit on the sides of the platform will be knocked away from the center of the corridor, so make sure to stand by a wall so you don't get knocked into a pool of electric death. If no walls are available, stand in the center -- getting knocked into the air is much less painful than receiving the DoT.

Quasar - unmarked line AOE with a reasonable cast time. This attack is probably the main reason walls fall down; stack directly behind the horse to keep Quasar from going off to the side and hitting walls. Can also be aimed down the center of the platform to avoid hitting any walls.

Cloud Call - one player will receive a purple marker; when the marker disappears, a thundercloud will spawn over their head. This cloud will pulse heavy damage, apply a vulnerability debuff, and destroys walls that are next to it. Fortunately, the radius of the pulse is slightly smaller than the width of the corridor. Tanks should pull away from this, if possible, to avoid stacking vulnerability debuffs on themselves.

A good early placement for my cloud is halfway down the corridor, smooshed up against the wall. Later in the encounter, try to place this near a wall that has already been destroyed. This placement allows enough room to run by (to get away from Touchdown) without getting struck by lightning.

* Stand in the center of the platform unless targeted, to prevent Quasar from hitting any walls.
* Place any Cloud Calls away from the party, near a wall that will or has been destroyed.
* Prefer standing by a wall during Charge. Prefer standing in the center of the corridor if no walls are left or you can't get to one in time.

Hraesvelgr
This fight takes place on multiple pedestals, similar to the Kraken encounter from Hullbreaker Isle, but much smaller. Unlike that encounter, platforms can and will be destroyed as the fight progresses, acting as a DPS check for the entire encounter.

Healers should prepare to be on the pedestal or one pedestal away from the tank at all times to keep them in healing range. DPS should be ready to chase down adds on other pedestals, returning to the healer and tank's platforms to top up and continue burning down the boss. DPS should spread out if they share the same platform, to minimize damage from Holy Breath. Hraesvelgr CAN be DPSed from the back by melee DPS (on a separate platform) with appropriate tank positioning (hitbox as yet untested).

Holy Breath - pulse AOE targeting a random player that takes up nearly an entire pedestal, no cast bar. It'll probably hit you once or twice, move out of its AoE or jump to another platform to avoid.

Big Bad Pedestal-Destroying Breath - Hraesvelgr prepares a very big and very noticeable AOE that will destroy two pedestals at a time. If you or a party member alive or K.O'd are on a platform when destroyed you're removed from the fight just like Titan, you can lose all platforms so make sure you're conserving them and ideally saving a big one for last. A good strategy is to snake Hraesvelgr around the edge of the arena, effectively playing leap frog with Tank just a platform ahead or behind of the dps. NOTE: at one point I got "stranded" on a pedestal by this attack and freaked out; don't worry about that. The jump circles will still work even if you no longer have directly adjacent pedestals.

Holy Sprites - a couple adds spawn after BBPDB. These seem to start attacking party members at random and are more of a nuisance as the fight progresses. DPS can pick these up without the need for tanking. Not yet tested if they do anything special if left alone.

Ice Cubes and Dragon Heads - an ice cube and a dragon head will appear and float toward each other, intersecting above a pedestal (yeah, probably the one you're on). When they collide they do a little explosion thing that kinda hurts, so get to a different pedestal before that happens. Ice cubes on their own that halt on the platform should be avoided -- they will apply heavy damage and a heavy debuff to any party member on the same platform.

* Be on the same platform or nearby to keep party members together.
* Avoid the huge square of death when Hraesvelgr prepares to destroy the platforms.
* Spread out on each platform to avoid excess damage.
