*Rendezvous with [[F'lhaminn]] in [[Limsa Lominsa]].

*Speak with F'lhaminn in [[Revenant's Toll]].

*Speak with the [[Scions]] in [[the Rising Stones]]. 0/5

*Speak with [[Tataru]].

==Journal==
*[[Tataru]] proudly informs you that [[F'lhaminn]], [[Hoary Boulder]], and [[Coultenet]] -- the three [[The Scions of the Seventh Dawn|Scions of the Seventh Dawn]] forced to flee [[Limsa Lominsa]] and the [[The Crystal Braves|Crystal Braves]]' betrayal -- are at last homeward bound. Not to be outdone, however, [[Krile]] and [[Thancred]] appear shortly thereafter, to share with the others the next step in their plan for tracking down [[Minfilia Warde|Minfilia]]. Theorizing that [[Hydaelyn]]'s direct intercession must leave a measurable impact on the ambient aether, they intend to study the battlefield where you faced [[the Ultima Weapon]] -- where She shielded you with the Blessing of Light: the [[The Praetorium|Praetorium]]. Though he knows not how such data may be put to use, [[Alphinaud]] nevertheless defers to your comrades' judgment, as well as their suggestion that you, Alphinaud, and Tataru see to the necessary preparations for the long-lost Scions' homecoming.

*Surprised and pleased to see a familiar face, F'lhaminn and her companions greet you warmly and offer their apologies for not returning sooner. Eager to speak with her daughter, F'lhaminn asks after Minfilia, forcing you to divulge that she has yet to be found. Though clearly distraught, F'lhaminn does her best to remain calm and trust in the Scions to see her daughter safely home, and together you make for [[Revenant's Toll]].

*Outside the [[The Seventh Heaven|Seventh Heaven]], the trio pause to take in the familiar surroundings. Though much has changed, much indeed remains the same... though who can say how they will feel once they walk through the doors of the [[The Rising Stones|Rising Stones]]?

*The Rising Stones is filled with the sounds of laughter and drink as F'lhaminn, Hoary Boulder, and Coultenet drift to familiar corners to greet old friends and tell tales of adventurers in foreign lands. For some, it is as though they never left -- a break in a conversation now resumed. For others, it is the promise of a new beginning -- a new chapter in a larger story. Yet in the midst of all the excitement, Alphinaud and Tataru stand apart, strangely silent...

*Though many delight in the homecoming of the long-lost trio, Alphinaud thoughts remain with those who have yet to return. But Tataru, ever resilient, reassures him that all their missing comrades will be found -- Minfilia, [[Yda]], [[Papalymo]]... every last one.
{{Dialogue|<nowiki>
-optional start
'''Alphinaud:''' Much as I worry for the future of Ishgard, the fate of our missing friends concerns me even more...

'''House Fortemps Steward:''' It is a relief to see that Lord Artoirel has found renewed purpose. Would that I could say the same of Lord Emmanellain...

'''House Fortemps Manservant:''' While we are proud that Lord Artoirel acquitted himself with honor in the Vault, I am rather more relieved that he returned to us hale and healthy.

====Optional dialogue in the Rising Stones====
'''V'mah Tia:''' It feels as though all we do is track crystal shipments and spy upon beastmen strongholds. I know it's important work, but sometimes you want to be in the thick of it, you know?

'''Alianne:''' While Riol commands our efforts in the field, I tend to administrative matters here.
'''Alianne:''' You might say my experiences with the Crystal Braves helped prepare me for these duties. A pity I never had the chance to "thank" Captain Ilberd. For everything.

'''Ephemie:''' I never realized shinobi were capable of such amazing feats! Mayhap I too should take up the shortblades...

'''Bluomwyda:''' The way the refugees looked away when we showed them the linkpearl fragments... Aye, I think Aergmhus may have the right of it.
'''Bluomwyda:''' He is a good man, but I can tell the betrayal yet weighs on his mind. Would that more of the Braves had been like him.

'''Aergmhus:''' I'd wager those Ala Mhigans know where Yda and Paplymo went. In fact, I would not be surprised if they helped them to flee the city—not that they would ever admit to such.
'''Aergmhus:''' After all, half the Braves up and turned their cloaks during a royal banquet. What reason do they have to believe us when we claim we're friends?

'''Ocher Boulder:''' Praise the Twelve, they found him! Riol found Hoary!
'''Ocher Boulder:''' He's in Thavnair looking after Miss F'lhaminn, it seems. Hah, imagine that! MY brother, bodyguard to the Antecedent's mother! He sure has come a long way...

'''Aenor:''' You should've seen the way my man jumped for joy when he heard about his brother!
'''Aenor:''' By the by, you don't happen to know a reputable goldsmith, do you? I'm thinking of commissioning a pair of rings...

'''Clemence:''' Aenor, you cannot be serious! He must be three times your size! I mean, how would you eve... Surely you haven't...
'''Clemence:''' No, no, don't tell me. I don't want to know. I don't want to know...

'''Homei:''' Talking with Isildaure, I cannot help but wonder if we met long ago. It certainly feels as though we've known each other for years, if not decades.

'''Isildaure:''' You should hear some of the mischief Homei here got up to back in the old country! It's enough to make me think I still have a few good years of adventuring left in me.

'''Krile:''' I have an idea how we might find Minfilia, but I'm still working through the details. Tell you later?

'''Thancred:''' If I have to descend into the bowels of the seventh hell to find her, I will.
'''Thancred:''' Whatever if takes, [Forename]. Whatever it takes.
-optional end

===Accepting the quest===
-cutscene start
'''Tataru:''' Alphinaud, [Forename]! I've been looking all over for you!
'''Tataru:''' We've received news regarding F'lhaminn, Hoary Boulder, and Coultenet!

'''Alphinaud:''' Really? Has something happened?

'''Tataru:''' No, no, it's nothing bad—quite the opposite, in fact! It seems that once they learned the Scions' good name had been restored, they boarded the next ship bound for Limsa Lominsa. They should be arriving any moment now!
'''Tataru:''' It's easy to forget how useful linkpearls are, isn't it? When they work, I mean. And you don't mind being spied on.

'''Alphinaud:''' Quite. But what wonderful news! To think that our reunion is close at hand.

'''Thancred:''' A pleasure to see you too, Alphinaud.

'''Alphinaud:''' Ah, Thancred....and Krile. What brings the two of you here?

'''Thancred:''' Krile and I have been looking into how we might track down Minfilia.

'''Krile:''' And we may just have found the answer.
'''Krile:''' [Forename]—when you were fleeing Ul'dah with Minfilia, you said that Hydaelyn spoke to her shortly before you parted ways, yes?
'''Krile:''' Well, assuming that is true—and I see no reason to suspect that it is not—it seems reasonable to conclude that Hydaelyn commanded her to remain behind.
'''Krile:''' That is to say, the Mothercrystal ''directly interceded'' to guide Minfilia.
'''Krile:''' Admittedly, this is all still quite hypothetical, but I propose that such intervention, however, subtle, must surely leave some residual trace. A linger disturbance in the aether—or ripple, if you will.
'''Krile:''' In order to establish the existence of such ripples, of course, we will require suitable data.

'''Thancred:''' Fortunately, I know where such data can be found: the battleground where [Forename] felled the Ultima Weapon...and the site of my personal ignominy.
'''Thancred:''' 'Twas there that Hydaelyn intravened to shield {{alternatives|f=her|m=him}} from the magick I invoked. Krile and I will infiltrate the castrum and analyze the aether therein.

'''Alphinaud:''' The two of you? Alone?

'''Thancred:''' I have a proven knack for subterfuge, and I am confident there will be sufficient nooks and crannies in which to hide Krile while the patrols pass.
'''Thancred:''' Besides, if you and [Forename] come along, who will see to F'lhaminn's grand homecoming?

'''Alphinaud:''' When you put it like that... Very well, I will trust in your plan.
'''Alphinaud:''' I know not whether this data will yield a means to find Minfilia, but it will at the very least eliminate another avenue of inquiry.
'''Alphinaud:''' Tataru and I will return to the Rising Stones and make preparations for our comrades' return. Might I impose upon you to meet them at the Lominsan docks?
'''Alphinaud:''' Then I shall see the four of you at the Rising Stones. Safe travels!
-quest accepted
-cutscene end

-optional start
'''Alphinaud:''' Oh? Lady F'lhaminn is not with you?

'''Tataru:''' I can't wait to hear what adventures they've had!

'''Hoary Boulder:''' Is that...? By the gods, it ''is'' you! Well met, [Forename], well met!

'''Coultenet:''' If it isn't [Forename] [Surname]! Really, you didn't have to come all this way just for us!
-optional end

===Rendezvousing with F'lhaminn in Limsa Lominsa===
-cutscene start
'''F'lhaminn:''' Oh, [Forename]! How have you been? Come here - let me have a good look at you.
'''F'lhaminn:''' Thank the Twelve. One hears the strangest tales in foreign lands. I worried about you all every day...

'''Coultenet:''' We would have sent word sooner, but the Braves afforded us no opportunity. When they fell upon us in the market, it was all we could do to escape.
'''Coultenet:''' Tataru found her way to you, of course, but we were forced to seek shelter aboard a Hannish vessel.

'''Hoary Boulder:''' It pained us not being there when you needed us most. But we made the most of it, didn't we, Coultenet? Studied and trained from dusk till dawn, we did!

'''F'lhaminn:''' We would have sent word sooner, but we knew not whom to trust, and with the vast distance....
'''F'lhaminn:''' But those dark days are behind us at last. I shall be glad indeed to return home and speak with my daughter.
'''F'lhaminn:''' What do you mean she's ''missing''!? How could you let this happen!?
'''F'lhaminn:''' Forgive me, I...I am sure you are doing everything in your power to find her.
'''F'lhaminn:''' ...As Thancred must be. He watched over her from the first—long before me. And he will watch over her to the last.
'''F'lhaminn:''' I shall pray for her safe return, and busy myself in the meantime.

'''Coultenet:''' For a certainty, there is much and more to be done. The Braves may have bloodied us, but the path remains, and we shall not be swayed by it.

'''Hoary Boulder:''' Aye, that's the spirit! To the Scions, and a long overdue reunion! Huzzah!

'''F'lhaminn:''' Well, there you have it. To the Rising Stones!
-cutscene end
-voiced cutscene start
[At Castrum Meridianum]
'''Krile:''' Well done, sir. And with that, I believe we are ready to proceed.

'''Thancred:''' Let us be about our business then. The next patrol may not be so credulous.

'''Krile:''' Why must you be so disappointingly brusque? You're not at all as Minfilia described, you know. I don't think you've favored me with so much as a single compliment since we set out.
'''Krile:''' Tell me, did your time in the wilderness sap you of your charm, or are you holding it in reserve for your beloved?

'''Thancred:''' This is neither the time nor the place.

'''Krile:''' Well, call me old-fashioned, but when I'm risking life and limb infiltrating an imperial castrum, I like to be sure of my comrade's motivations.

'''Thancred:''' I see now where Alphinaud gets it from.
'''Thancred:''' Minfilia is dear to me, it is true—but not in the way you think.
'''Thancred:''' Fifteen years past, when she was still but a child, there was an incident at a parade. A goobbue broke free of its fetters and run amok through the streets of Ul'dah. Had I been more attentive, I could have prevented it...but I was distracted, and her father was killed.
'''Thancred:''' I feared she would never recover, but in the years that followed, she showed herself to be more resilient than I had ever imagined. And when she learned of her gift, she did not flinch from the responsibility, but sought to guide others on the path.
'''Thancred:''' She touched the hearts of all around her. Mine, Lousoix's, every Scion's. In those dark days following the Calamity, she was our guiding light—our hope for a brighter future.
'''Thancred:''' She had so many dreams...and I would give anything to make them come true.

'''Krile:''' My apologies. I can see she means the world to you. I did not mean to pick at old scars.

'''Thancred:''' No harm done, I assure you. But fair is fair, my lady—what is Minfilia to you?

'''Krile:''' You mean you don't know? Only my dearest friend.
'''Krile:''' When I finally emerged from my torpor, I learned that nary a day had passed without her asking after me. She never gave up hope.
'''Krile:''' And neither will I.

'''Thancred:''' Then for Minfilia's sake, let us pray that these vestiges of Hydaelyn's intervention will lead us to her.

'''Coultenet:''' Home at last... I must make my rounds and see who remains.
===Speaking with F'lhaminn in Revenant's Toll===
'''F'lhaminn:''' ...It feels good to be home again.
'''F'lhaminn:''' To think that everyone is waiting for us, just beyond those doors. Friends and family with whom we have shared so much...
'''F'lhaminn:''' ...Gods help me, but the older I get, the more sentimental I become. Come, let us not keep them waiting.

-optional start
'''Alphinaud:''' And there they are, at last. Thank the Twelve...

'''Tataru:''' Nothing like a homecoming to lift everyone's spirits! Thanks for bringing them back, [Forename].

'''V'mah Tia:''' Is that the Lady F'lhaminn I've heard so much about? Well, well! I shall have to introduce myself.

===Speaking with the Scions in the Rising Stones===
====F'lhaminn, Alianne and Ephemie====
'''F'lhaminn:''' Alianne, Ephemie! It fills my heart with joy to see you both hale and healthy. And what of Higiri?

'''Ephemie:''' She is well, though abroad on a mission at present.

'''Alianne:''' It just wasn't the same without you. Welcome back, my lady!

====Aergmhus====
'''Aergmhus:''' Ah, we could do with more of that around here! Heartfelt reunions with stalwart companions! Brings a—<belch>—brings a bloody tear to the eye!

====Homei and Isildaure====
'''Homei:''' To secret oneself in a ship's hold to secure safe passage to a faraway land...<br>This is a tale we know all too well.
'''Homei:''' When they are well rested, I should like to seek a formal introduction.

'''Isildaure:''' Why wait, my friend? Come, there is no need to be shy!

'''Homei:''' Pray grant me a moment longer, at least! though I am happy to oblige you, my legs are rather less accommodating...

====Coultenet====
'''Coultenet:''' Glad though I am to be home, I cannot help but think of those who have yet to return...
'''Coultenet:''' Once we have settled in, I would join the search.

====Hoary Boulder and Ocher Boulder====
'''Hoary Boulder:''' Ocher! What in the seven hells drove my little brother to come to Mor Dhona?

'''Ocher Boulder:''' Why, you, Brother—you and the Scions, of course! For a thousand days I trained, that I might grow as strong as you—that I might fight alongside you!
'''Ocher Boulder:''' Yet now that you are here, I sense that you have surpassed me once more... No, do not tell me—you trained with the Hannish, did you not?

'''Hoary Boulder:''' Your eyes do not deceive, Brother! Aye, I have studied the Trials of the Braves, and drunk deep of the souls of mine enemies!

-optional start
'''F'lhaminn: Twelve be praised, so many are still with us...

'''Alianne: When our comrades betrayed us, I feared all was lost. How wrong I was!

'''Ephemie: We must tell the children at once! They've always been so fond of Hoary.

'''Aergmhus:''' Brilliant, bloody brilliant! <belch>

'''Bluomwyda:''' I worry that Aergmhus is getting a bit carried away, but I suppose I can overlook it on this occasion.

'''Homei:''' Isildaure has the spirit of a man half his age. I imagine his granddaughter often struggled to keep up.

'''Isildaure:''' Aye, aye, I heard it all from Alianne. So, where is she? If I'm to greet the Songstress of Ul'dah, I would do so on my feet!

'''Coultenet:''' We all must do our duty─and I am no exception. Our brothers and sisters are counting on us.

'''Hoary Boulder:''' An unexpected but welcome reunion indeed! And a challenge, besides. It would not do to be bested by my little brother, oh no. Not after having come so far!

'''Ocher Boulder:''' Huzzah! He is returned! Together, my brother and I shall serve the Scions till the breaking of an ''eighth'' dawn!

'''Aenor:''' Oh my. Decisions, decisions...

'''Clemence:''' First Ocher, and now Hoary! A passing fancy I could suffer, but ''this''!? She's hopeless! Utterly hopeless!

'''Alphinaud:''' Too long....
'''Alphinaud:''' 'Twas the chaos born of my foolish ambition which forced them to flee.
'''Alphinaud:''' Though they are returned, there are others yet missing—others whom we cannot forsake.

'''Tataru:''' We'll find them, Alphinaud—I know we will! Minfilia, Yda, Papalymo...every last one!
'''Tataru:''' And when they walk through those doors, we'll be here to welcome them home.
==Walkthrough==
This quest unlocks [[Dye (action)|dyeing]] for [[Artifact Armor (Endwalker)]] for [[Physical Ranged DPS]] classes.

==Steps==
*Speak with [[Hien]] at [[the Swallow's Compass]].
*Speak with Hien.
*Speak with Hien.
*Speak with Hien at [[the Doman Enclave]].
*Speak with the [[Doman Delegate|Doman ambassador]] in [[Sundrop]] at [[Radz-at-Han]].

==Journal==
*Yugiri's somber expression suggests you have arrived right on time.

*Preparations for the funeral are complete. The blasphemy continues to remain out of sight, and so Hien wishes to seize this opportunity to carry out the ceremony. Gosetsu, unfortunately, will be unable to attend, but Hien hopes you will accompany him and Yugiri as they make their way to the Swallow's Compass.

*While waiting for villagers to arrive, Hien is approached by Kisei, who comes not to argue but to apologize─or so it would seem. Hoping to catch him off guard, Kisei unsheathes a dagger and makes to strike, only to be cut down by Yugiri. But the seemingly foolish endeavor is in service to a greater plan, as Kisei's death draws the blasphemy from hiding, intent upon avenging its stepmother. A fierce battle ensues, and as the situation turns dire, Gosetsu joins the fray not with sword in hand but with a cane, wielding healing magicks of surprising potency. With his aid, the blasphemy is at last laid low, and the funeral can be held without fear of further disruption.

*The villagers of Doma are at last gathered, and Hien conducts a heartfelt service in remembrance of those poor souls who were never returned to Doma. One by one he recites the names and stories of parents, siblings, and children, until he finally speaks of Minato and Kisei─not of their tragic end, but of the happiness and fulfillment they found in family. The ceremony ends with a moment of silence, all present bowing their heads in prayer for their loved ones.

*With the blasphemy slain and the funeral complete, there is naught left to do but return home. And so, Hien, Yugiri, and Gosetsu are off to the Doman Enclave.

*Though it may be years, if not decades, until the people of Doma truly make peace with their past, Hien believes they have turned a corner. Yugiri praises Gosetsu's skill with healing magicks, prompting him to stress that he is still but a novice. It is for that reason that, unfortunately, he must once more leave on pilgrimage to hone his skills─though he reassures a disappointed Hien that he will fly to his side should the need arise. And so the former samurai takes his leave, prompting you to make ready to return to your other affairs as well. Hien thanks you once more for your aid, and bids you relay word of the blasphemy's demise to their representative at Radz-at-Han.

*The Doman delegate is overjoyed to learn that the blasphemy is no more, and that the state of affairs in Doma is much improved for your involvement. If Hien should have need of your marksmanship again, he is certain to seek you out before all others.
===Accepting the quest===
'''Yugiri:''' As ever, your timing is impeccable. We but moments ago completed preparations for the funeral.
'''Yugiri:''' I will inform Lord Hien of your arrival.

-cutscene start
'''Hien:''' You're here. Excellent. The blasphemy continues to shun our settlements, and I mean to make the most of the time its absence affords us.
'''Hien:''' I assume you were planning to take part in the ceremony?
'''Hien:''' Glad to hear it. Unfortunately, Gosetsu will not be joining us today.
'''Hien:''' He's injured himself, as I knew he would with his secret training, and now grumbles from the confines of his bed. But he will be fine in due course. We may worry over his convalescence ''after'' the funeral.
-cutscene end
===Speak with Hien at the Swallow's Compass===
-optional start
'''Yugiri:''' There was a peculiar-looking doll among the effects, but I can find no record of it in our stores. Would you happen to know who brought it?
-optional end

'''Hien:''' The villagers should arrive ere long. Then we may begin.
===Duty===
====Pre Duty Cutscene====
-cutscene start
'''Kisei:''' Lord Hien. I...
'''Kisei:''' I apologize, my lord, for my past transgressions.
'''Kisei:''' I yearned to believe my daughter was a kami reborn, but you were right─she is a monster. Words can ill express my shame for advocating the conscripts be sacrificed to appease the dead.
'''Kisei:''' Nay, this ceremony shall serve far, far better... And so, as a humble citizen of Doma, I offer my deepest gratitude...and beg for your forgiveness.
'''Kisei:''' I would make an offering on behalf of my husband and son, as well as my dear, sweet Minato. I throw myself on your mercy, Lord Hien─allow them a place within the mausoleum, that their spirits may know peace.
'''Hien:''' There is no need to beg forgiveness, Kisei. Please, rise.
'''Kisei:''' She will come...for you...
'''Hien:''' By the kami! She gave her life to draw out the blasphemy!?
-cutscene end

====Duty Dialogue====
'''Hien:''' Minato holds me responsible for Kisei's death. I will keep its attention.
'''Yugiri:''' It means to charge! [Forename], can you break its focus?
'''Yugiri:''' Remain calm and alert. It may attempt another charge.
'''Yugiri:''' Well struck.
'''Hien:''' A formidable foe indeed. But we will not be bested!
'''Hien:''' Have care. The air is thick with her malice.
'''Hien:''' It readies to strike! On your guard!
'''Hien:''' I...I can't move...

====Mid-Duty Cutscene====
'''???:''' Apologies for the untimely arrival, my lord.

'''Hien:''' Gosetsu? What is that staff?

'''Gosetsu:''' Pilgrimage proved a most enlightening experience, and is where I chanced to discover the benefits of ascetic training. I may no longer be fit to wield a blade, my lord, but shugendo affords me another way to turn the tide of battle.

'''Hien:''' Stubborn as ever... I shall have to thank you later.
'''Hien:''' Let us put an end to this!

====Duty Dialogue====
'''Hien:''' We must discuss your change of vocation─after dealing with the blasphemy.
'''Yugiri:''' Quickly! We must protect Gosetsu!

'''Gosetsu Everfall:''' You have my thanks.
'''Gosetsu Everfall:''' It comes for me! Perhaps a grazing shot will break its concentration.
'''Gosetsu Everfall:''' Expertly done!
'''Gosetsu Everfall:''' I sense something amiss. Quickly, to me!
'''Gosetsu Everfall:''' A test of my will and training both. Hold fast, everyone!

'''Hien:''' Well done, Gosetsu. Now, I believe it is past time we put Minato's soul to rest.

====End of Duty Cutscene====
-cutscene start
'''Hien:''' A deceiver to the bitter end. But she is still a daughter of Doma. She will have a proper burial, and her family's belongings enshrined with the others.

'''Hien:''' I have gathered you here today not to speak of the future, but to reflect on the past. To pay respects to loved ones fallen on the field of battle.
'''Hien:''' In honor of their sacrifices, these sons and daughters of Doma shall be given a place here, at the Swallow's Compass.
'''Hien:''' Though they no longer walk with us in life, they walk with us in spirit. Pray never forget their bravery, that the memories of their legacy give you comfort and strength.
'''Hien:''' Maroya Motokawa, the aspiring painter. He was a man who saw beauty in all things, and one day would have become a renowned artist in Kugane.
'''Hien:''' Motosue Jito, the warrior-in-training. He longed to become a samurai like his father, and bring honor to his family.
'''Hien:''' Suzushiro Kodakumi, the carpenter. A man wholly dedicated to his craft, who hoped to one day pass on his talents to his two loving children.
'''Hien:''' And lastly, Minato Shihogaki, and her mother-in-law Kisei. Theirs was once a happiness to be envied.
'''Hien:''' Minato's parents were murdered by imperial soldiers, and after being rescued by the Confederacy, Minato was given into the care of the village of Isari. Though she arrived with a broken heart, it was soon mended by the man who would become her husband. The son of Kisei, who herself had been borne to Isari on winds of tragedy.
'''Hien:''' Kisei was a child of the deep, born in Sui-no-Sato. For her gifts she was exiled, but with her courage and tenacity found a new home on the shores of the Ruby Sea. She was a devoted wife and mother, and though not related by blood, she loved Minato as if she were their own.
'''Hien:''' That is how she lived─how they all lived─and how they should be remembered. Let your hearts swell not with sorrow, but with joy for their memory. Know that proof of their mark left on this world shall remain here, enshrined within the Swallow's Compass for all eternity.
'''Hien:''' Let us still our voices, and in silence pray for their souls. That they may share in the peace we have found.
-cutscene end

===Speak with Hien===
-optional start
'''Gosetsu:''' Traditionally the royal mausoleum is reserved for the ruling clans, but I have no doubt Lord Kaien would approve of his son's decision.
'''Yugiri:''' Many tears were shed throughout the ceremony. Not for grief, but for relief, I think. Happiness, even.
-optional end

'''Hien:''' Well, I certainly wasn't expecting battle with a blasphemy as a prelude to the ceremony. At least now we may breathe easy, if only for a short while.
'''Hien:''' The villagers have all returned home, and I believe it is time we did the same.

===Speak with Hien at the Doman Enclave===
-optional start
'''Gosetsu:''' I am not yet well versed in healing magicks, but thankfully it was enough to be of some use to Lord Hien.
'''Yugiri:''' Never in my wildest dreams did I foresee Gosetsu embracing the ascetic arts.
-optional end

'''Hien:''' We've held a national funeral and slain a blasphemy besides. A rather productive day, would you not agree?
'''Hien:''' The former conscripts will be elated to finally return home.
'''Hien:''' Speaking of returns, I think I speak for us all when I say your appearance at the Swallow's Compass came as something of a shock. What of your injuries from training?
'''Gosetsu:''' Quite painful for some time, I assure you. Despite my best efforts to reclaim my former skills, my back and my hips vigorously protested.
'''Gosetsu:''' I planned to sleep that I might be well rested for the morrow's hunt, but a voice called out to me. I was needed, and so I grabbed my cane and ran as quickly as my ailing body would allow.
'''Yugiri:''' The cane suits you, Gosetsu, but your mastery of healing magicks was a sight to behold. Almost as surprising as your resurrection following the fall of Doma Castle.
'''Gosetsu:''' I am still but a novice in dire need of training. 'Tis my hope that I will be able to refine my ascetic arts during my next pilgrimage.
'''Hien:''' So you are leaving, then?
'''Gosetsu:''' Worry not, Lord Hien. Should you find yourself in dire straits once more, I shall fly to your side. Not as a samurai, perhaps, but I will nonetheless give our enemies cause to tremble.
'''Gosetsu:''' And with that, I take my leave!
'''Hien:''' Though it may be years, if not decades, until we truly make peace with our past, we have turned a corner and begun to heal. We may look to the future unburdened by grief ignored and sadness denied. The path ahead is ever fraught with peril, but we shall walk it with eyes unclouded...and with pride.
'''Hien:''' You have done so much for us, for Doma. I wish there was more I could do for you.
'''Hien:''' If I may ask one last favor, before you leave, please inform our representative at Radz-at-Han that the blasphemy has been vanquished, and the people of Doma are safe. With any luck, our experiences here will prove useful to other nations that yet grapple with these beasts.
'''Hien:''' Safe travels, [Forename], and may the kami bless you.
'''Doman Delegate:''' The blasphemy is no more!? That is most wonderful news! I must inform the other delegates at once.
'''Doman Delegate:''' Thank you again for answering our summons. If another threat should rear its dastardly head, I pray we can count on your assistance again.
==Steps==
*Speak with [[Hien]] at [[Namai]] and have him accompany you.
*Speak with the villagers while accompanied by Hien. 0/3
** [[Bereaved Woman]]
** [[Tonbo]]
*Speak with Hien.
*Speak with Hien.
*Speak with Hien at [[the Doman Enclave]].

==Journal==
*Yugiri's stern expression suggests she has no good news to share.

*Having reflected on Tonbo's words, and recognizing that his people still struggle to cope with the loss of their loved ones, Hien has decided to hold a national funeral to honor those who did not return from imperial conscription and are presumed dead. Because there are no bodies to be buried, they will enshrine keepsakes of the deceased at [[the Swallow's Compass]]. Hien asks you to accompany him to [[Namai]] where he will gather offerings from the townsfolk, while Yugiri visits the people of Isari.

*Hien believes it his duty to keep safe the peoples' offerings, and insists you need only watch and listen as he speaks with the villagers.
**※You must be accompanied by Hien to complete this task. Speak with him again at Namai should you become separated.

*Hien has made every effort to remember the stories of those who will be honored at the coming funeral. Before making the journey back to the enclave with the offerings, however, he suggests a brief repose in the rice fields of [[the Gensui Chain]].

*Hien recognizes the difficulty inherent in trying to strive for a better future without making peace with tragedies of the past. When the subject of his own past is broached, you find yourselves interrupted by the fortuitous arrival of Gosetsu. He believes his lord must lead by example and come to terms with his own painful memories, if he truly hopes to deliver others from their despair. To that end, Hien bids you join him in retrieving a keepsake he has kept hidden at [[Plum Spring]].

*At Plum Spring, Hien unearths a doll modeled after the auspice [[Qitian Dasheng]]. The only gift he received from his father as a child, it stirs fond memories of his youth, and time spent together with his parents. Custom dictates a keepsake of the deceased is offered, but he believes his father would approve nonetheless. Together you return to the enclave, the lord of Doma in higher spirits than when you first set out.

*Plans for the funeral are proceeding apace, and Hien appears hopeful. There is still the matter of the blasphemy to deal with, but for now, he intends to do what he can to help his people mourn, and hopes you will be present when all is ready.
**※The next role quest will be available from Yugiri upon reaching level 90 in any physical ranged DPS class.
===Accepting the quest===
'''Yugiri:''' Regrettably, there have been no sightings of the blasphemy since our first encounter at Shoal Rock. As Tansui surmised, it seems to fear confrontation.
'''Yugiri:''' We, for our part, have tried to make good use of this intervening calm. Even now, Lord Hien and Gosetsu discuss how we might prevent other villagers from turning. If you would wait here a moment, he would no doubt wish to hear your thoughts on the matter.

-cutscene start

'''Hien:''' [Forename], so glad you could come. As Yugiri no doubt explained, the blasphemy continues to elude us, and so we have turned our attention to other matters we can and should address.
'''Hien:''' After long discussions and much deliberation, we believe we have found a means to allay the growing malaise of our people. If you would, Gosetsu?

'''Gosetsu:''' The idea came to us after considering young Tonbo's remarks about his father, whose body was never found and returned to Doma. Others no doubt share in his melancholy, unable to bury and mourn their loved ones as is their right.
'''Gosetsu:''' Put simply, they cannot make peace with their loss. Their anguish, if left to linger, may consume them as well.

'''Hien:''' That we might provide the people of Doma with comfort and closure, we will hold a national funeral at the Swallow's Compass. Those who choose to attend will be asked to present personal effects of the deceased they wish to be enshrined there.
'''Hien:''' Spirits reside in all things, be they living or inanimate, and though we may die, a part of us lives on in the items we cherished most in life. Therefore, in lieu of remains, these belongings will be afforded a place in the royal mausoleum, that the spirits of those lost to us may find their way home to Doma, and at last know peace.
'''Hien:''' The announcement has already been made, and a great many people are now engaged in the difficult task of deciding which keepsake will serve as their offering.
'''Hien:''' 'Tis not a decision to be made lightly, but I suspect they will have made up their minds by the time we go to collect their chosen tokens. I also hope to learn more about the departed from those willing to speak with me, for my benefit and for theirs.
'''Hien:''' To break free of their sorrow, they must seek joy in the memories and the love they shared with the departed. And I will help them find it.
'''Hien:''' Might the liberator of Doma be willing to favor the people with his presence as well? I doubt not that they will appreciate the gesture.
'''Hien:''' Good. Yugiri, I leave the people of Isari to you. Gosetsu, might I ask you to─

'''Gosetsu:''' Apologies, my lord, but there is...a small, but most urgent, matter I must first tend to.

'''Hien:''' Very well, I shall not pry. Now, [Forename], let us go and pay a visit to the good people of Namai.
-quest accepted
-cutscene end

===Speak with Hien at Namai and have him accompany you===
'''Hien:''' Right, then. Before we begin, I would remind you that you need only listen to the tales of their loved ones. As overseer of the ceremony, I see it as my duty to deliver their effects personally.
'''Hien:''' Because of this, it is of the utmost importance that we keep clear of any beasts that might damage our cargo.
'''Hien:''' It goes without saying how important it is that their offerings are delivered in pristine condition, and I will be no good to you in a fight while heavily encumbered.
'''Hien:''' If stealth or flight are not options, I must ask that you fight for us both. But we needn't worry unless the occasion arises. For now, let us be off.

System: ''Hien is now accompanying you. Keep him at your side in order to proceed with quest objectives. You can leave Hien behind by entering a different area, or by speaking with him and selecting the option to part ways. If you wish to have Hien accompany you again, return and speak with him at the original location.''

If parting with Hien:
'''Hien:''' If you have business elsewhere I will not keep you, but I beg you to hurry back. I will wait for you here in Namai.

After rejoining Hien:
'''Hien''': There you are. All is well, I trust? If you are ready, then let us return to the matter at hand.

-cutscene start
'''Bereaved Woman:''' My husband, my dear sweet Maroya, never returned from Garlemald, but...perhaps now his soul might know peace. Please, take this painting brush to the Swallow's Compass.
'''Hien:''' I shall handle it with the utmost care. Might we trouble you to tell us more about your husband?
'''Bereaved Woman:''' Maroya was a kind and gentle soul... There was nothing he loved more in the world than to create. That brush never left his side, not even when he tended the fields. Any spare moment was dedicated to his craft, and he produced the most wonderful vistas of Yanxia.
'''Bereaved Woman:''' It was his dream to take us to Kugane where he would become a famous artist...until he was conscripted.
'''Bereaved Woman:''' In the early days, he would send drawings of the places they took him, though I know not how. But more time began to pass between each arrival, and then...they stopped coming altogether.
'''Bereaved Woman:''' I know not in what far-flung land he died, but I pray it was as beautiful as his works.
'''Hien:''' He sounds like quite a man, to hold fast to his art even when forced to endure such hardship. His soul will find peace, of that I have no doubt.
-cutscene end

-optional start
'''Bereaved Woman:''' That was Maroya's favorite brush. Please do take good care of it.
'''Grieving Elder:''' I must thank you again, Lord Hien, for this honor. My son would have been overjoyed to know that his katana would be enshrined at the Swallow's Compass.
'''Hien:''' Nay, the honor is mine. I'm sure your son was a fine warrior.
'''Grieving Elder:''' Aye, and so was I, once upon a time. A samurai, as it happens, in service to your father when the Empire first invaded our lands.
'''Grieving Elder:''' Though we were defeated, our spirits broken, my son Motosue was never one to lose hope.
'''Grieving Elder:''' He was determined to follow in my footsteps. Gave his everything to honing his skill with the blade. When I watched him train, I felt the pride I thought I'd forsaken swell in my breast, and I knew he would restore our family to its former glory. Alas...
'''Grieving Elder:''' He could have fled. Perhaps started life anew as a vagabond of some sort. But he bore the burden and fought for Garlemald, for fear of what the imperials might do if he did not.
'''Hien:''' 'Tis plain he was a loving son and a warrior true. I will care for his blade as if it were mine own, and see it given the honor and respect due a samurai of Doma.
'''Grieving Elder:''' A samurai of Doma... Motosue would be so happy.
'''Tonbo:''' I realize it's quite large, but I wanted to offer this on behalf of my brother and our father, Suzushiro.
'''Hien:''' If you are willing, I would very much like to hear more about them both.
'''Tonbo:''' My father, he...he was a carpenter. He was a good man, if a bit stubborn. Always thinking about his work. The only time he ever seemed to enjoy himself was when he had a cup of sake in his hand.
'''Tonbo:''' When my brother came of age, he took up the trade as well. It brought them closer. I'd see them laughing over drinks together, or listening in silence to the crickets singing under the moonlight.
'''Tonbo:''' I wanted to join them one day...
'''Tonbo:''' This was their favorite sake. I thought they might miss it.
'''Hien:''' I am sure it will taste all the sweeter having come from you.
'''Hien:''' I realize no one can ever replace your brother or father, but if you will allow, I would be honored to share drinks with you in their stead. When you are of age, of course.
'''Hien:''' This should be everything. Would you join me for a short reprieve before our journey back?
'''Tonbo:''' Thinking about my brother and father finding peace at the Swallow's Compass is comforting. Like a weight has been lifted from my heart.

-cutscene start
'''Hien:''' They put on brave faces, but the people of Namai are still wracked with grief. It is the same at every village I have visited in recent days...but it is only now that I am struck by the contradictory nature of my goals.
'''Hien:''' Having joined the Eastern alliance, and taken steps to revitalize the enclave, I believed Doma was at last on the path to peace and prosperity. I still do. Yet by focusing so keenly on the future, I have neglected the past that yet haunts my people.
'''Hien:''' Even if they do not give in to despair, and become beasts that plague our lands like poor Tonbo's brother, how are we to truly move forward if we are constantly looking back?

'''''What will you say?'''''
> You speak of their haunted pasts, Lord Hien, but what of yours?
> Is there not someone for whom you yourself still grieve?
---

'''Hien:''' Me...? <sigh> All things considered, I suppose it was only a matter of time before the subject was broached.
'''???:''' Hah! {{alternatives|f=She|m=He}} cuts to the heart of the matter─and the young lord. For the best, I should think, for he cannot lead by example if he has not yet made peace with his own past.
'''Gosetsu:''' A thousand apologies, my lord. I was passing through, tending to the matters of which I spoke earlier, when I chanced to hear familiar voices in the distance.
'''Gosetsu:''' If I may be so bold, the people of Doma, one and all, understand the source of your pain. To lose your father in the turmoil of a failed rebellion, his staggering duty to the throne thrust upon you─aye, how could you even begin to mourn, when first you had to lead?
'''Gosetsu:''' It would behoove you to take part in the funeral rites, my lord. Take this time to make peace with your past while it is still yours to spend.
'''Gosetsu:''' Though unlikely─if not impossible─were you to become a monster as well, Doma would surely be lost.
'''Hien:''' I thank you for your counsel, Gosetsu. But if I may ask, why is it you keep your blade at the ready? I thought this personal matter of yours to be naught but a trifle, or am I mistaken?
'''Gosetsu:''' W-Well, I...
'''Gosetsu:''' I find the katana a superior tool for peeling persimmons. Speaking of which, I do believe my stomach begs for sustenance. If you will excuse me...
'''Hien:''' Training─to help slay the blasphemy, no doubt. <sigh> Fitting that he should offer me counsel, yet refuse to heed it in kind.
'''Hien:''' He is not the warrior he once was...but he is wise, our obstinate friend.
'''Hien:''' If I am to be perfectly honest, it frightens me to recall it. The moment it all came crashing down.
'''Hien:''' We'd taken Doma Castle. Victory was ours. But then we looked out and saw the banners of the XIIth Legion, marching towards us. The crown prince at the fore.
'''Hien:''' No sooner had Gosetsu and I escaped than we received word that Zenos had slain my father.
'''Hien:''' I remember how the fight went out of Gosetsu in an instant. How he wept for his lord, while I felt the weight of the profound duty bear down upon my shoulders. Crushing, suffocating... The heat of my own breath, the chill of my clammy palms...
'''Hien:''' ...But duty demanded I master my emotions. When all those around me─Gosetsu included─were consumed by anger and a thirst for vengeance, I had to be in control. Under my orders we dispersed and fled to fight another day.
'''Hien:''' To this day I have not stopped to reflect on my father's death. How could I, devoted as I am to finding Doma's way forward?
'''Hien:''' But now I must. And so, having taken you into my confidence, would you see this through with me to journey's end?
'''Hien:''' The keepsake I would offer up for the funeral is hidden in a place not easily reached. We will have to fly there, I'm afraid, but worry not─my yol will ferry us. Just a moment.
-cutscene end

===Speak with Hien===
'''Hien:''' The place we seek is Plum Spring, in the mountains. Shall we?

-cutscene start
'''Hien:''' My parents would bring me here for hanami as a child. Its beauty and serenity was such that I could forget the realities of the occupation.
'''Hien:''' Indeed, some of my fondest memories of family are here, which is precisely why I chose this place to conceal the singular gift my father bequeathed to me as a child.
'''Hien:''' Charming, is it not? The great auspice Qitian Dasheng, said to reside somewhere along the Dairyu Chain.
'''Hien:''' In those days, anyone and everyone knew the tales of his prowess. Reckless boy that I was, I once even tried to seek him out, hoping he might help us.
'''Hien:''' I buried it here shortly after my coming of age ceremony. It seemed a fitting place to both part with my childhood, and offer a final good-bye to my mother.
'''Hien:''' More a keepsake of mine than his, to be sure, but he was never a man of worldly possessions. Still, I suspect he would allow himself a rare smile if he were to see it again after all these years.
'''Hien:''' And that is precisely how I wish to bid him farewell. With a smile...
'''Hien:''' Ah... It should go without saying I would prefer it not become known that I kept this doll here. Wouldn't want the children to grow jealous now, would we?
'''Hien:''' And with that, I believe it is time we returned to the enclave.
-cutscene end

'''Hien:''' There are yet more villages to visit and offerings to collect, but preparations are proceeding apace. Soon the people will have one less cause to be tempted down the path of despair.
'''Hien:''' Of course, there still remains the problem of the blasphemy. The former conscripts will remain at the Kienkan until it has been dealt with.
'''Hien:''' We will slay the beast in due time, but before that, I would be honored if you were present for the funeral rites. Pray speak with Yugiri when next you visit the enclave, and she will tell you more of the proceedings.
*Speak with Hien.
*Speak with Hien at [[the Doman Enclave]].

==Journal==
*Yugiri appears armed and ready to leave the enclave, which can only mean one thing.

*The time to take up arms has come, for the blasphemy has been sighted in the Ruby Sea. As Hien and Yugiri prepare to meet with Rasho at Onokoro, he invites you to join them as they plan their next course of action.

*Rasho informs you that the blasphemy was sighted near Shoal Rock, and for reasons yet unknown, the beast remains idle. He believes it best to strike quickly so as to seize on its faineancy, and so Tansui proposes you entrap the beast by dividing your forces. While you search the islands together with Hien and Yugiri on foot, he and Rasho will circle about islands aboard a ship. And so the hunt begins along the shores of Shoal Rock.

*While you succeed in locating the blasphemy, but one glance at you and your comrades─weapons at the ready─is all it takes for the beast to take flight to parts unknown. Tansui arrives shortly after, and is taken aback upon learning the blasphemy was born from Minato. He reveals that he knew the woman, having rescued her at sea when her ship was sunk by imperial pursuers. Though her parents perished in the attack, she survived, albeit so traumatized by the experience that the mere sight of weapons drawn would drive her to scream in terror. She was eventually given into the care of Isari, where she found a husband, and together they frequented the beach where you found the blasphemy she became─all of which strongly suggests that these memories of her former life still influence her behavior as a beast.

*Though your prey has eluded you, Tansui's portrait of Minato gives you reason to believe that the blasphemy will return to the beach. Until then, however, there is nothing for you to do but join Hien at the Doman Enclave.

*Not long after you arrive at the Doman Enclave, Kisei appears with a number of villagers in tow. To appease the spirits of the deceased, she insists Hien render up the former conscripts as an offering to the kami Izanami. Hien summarily refuses, decrying the notion of sacrificing innocent lives. Though her followers' resolve begins to waver, Kisei will not be denied, but before she can press the issue, the long-absent Gosetsu reveals himself. Lord Hien's faithful retainer comes bearing a letter for Akitsu from his father─a man once taken by Garlemald and still very much alive, despite Kisei's earlier display of channeling his spirit. This revelation calls the truth of the priestess's powers into question, prompting her to leave in shame, but not before vowing revenge at the hands of her stepdaughter.
:The stunned and embarrassed villagers disperse, and soon after Tonbo steps forward to apologize to Hien. The youth goes on to voice his fear that he may one day succumb to despair and become a monster as his brother did, and with the villagers now disillusioned with Kisei, others may follow. Indeed, the people of Doma are yet burdened by loss and grief with which they have yet to come to terms. Hien recognizes this, and, with Gosetsu's counsel, hopes to find a means to provide them with a measure of comfort, that they may begin to heal.
:*※The next role quest will be available from Yugiri upon reaching level 89 in any physical ranged DPS class.
===Accepting the quest===

-cutscene start
'''Yugiri:''' You've arrived not a moment too soon. The blasphemy has been sighted on the coast. For a mercy, there are no reported casualties as of yet.
'''Hien:''' Just the {{alternatives|f=woman|m=man}} I was hoping to see. No sooner had we cast wide our net than a Confederate messenger was at our door.
'''Hien:''' If you would join us, Rasho awaits our arrival at Onokoro.
-cutscene end

===Speak with Rasho at Onokoro===
-optional start
'''Tansui:''' Here about the blasphemy, yes? Lord Hien and Yugiri should be arriving soon enough.
-optional end

-cutscene start
'''Rasho:''' Well, now. That the noble lord of Doma should come in person once again. Mayhap these blasphemies truly are a threat.
'''Hien:''' Indeed they are. And I was told you and yours sighted our quarry quite recently.
'''Rasho:''' Aye, that we did. Near the islands of Shoal Rock. The beast appeared to be docile by all accounts, but appearances can be deceiving.
'''Rasho:''' If it is as you say, and this blasphemy has eyes only for former conscripts, then we have naught to fear. I trust those we accepted into our care are still in yours at the Kienkan, enjoying the finest Doman hospitality?
'''Rasho:''' Anyway, I know not why it came to the Ruby Sea, nor why it remains idle, but if we act quickly, there is a chance we can take it unawares.
'''Tansui:''' I propose we divide our forces. If you're willing to go ashore, we'll take a ship and circle about the islands. The first to find it will have the honor of the kill.
'''Hien:''' Hah, a simple enough plan. Shall we be off to Shoal Rock, then?
-cutscene end

-optional start
'''Rasho:''' I had thought we earned a reprieve from battle with the imperial withdrawal, but it seems I was mistaken. So be it. I'll not suffer this monster to threaten us any longer.
'''Tansui:''' I can't imagine it will take long to deal with this creature, once we corner it.
-optional end

===Speak with Hien at Shoal Rock===
-optional start
'''Yugiri:''' Make ready, [Forename]. Should we find the beast first, we must be prepared to strike at once.
-optional end

'''Hien''': This is where the blasphemy was last sighted. If the fates are kind, this will all be over soon.

-cutscene start

'''Hien:''' Damn.
'''Yugiri:''' Such speed. I doubt even my falcons could keep pace with it.
'''Tansui:''' Bah, don't tell me that's the blasphemy flying off into the distance...
'''Hien:''' I hoped the ill will it bore me in life might compel the beast to stay and fight. Perhaps less of Minato remains than I thought─
'''Tansui:''' Minato? That monstrosity was ''Minato''!?
'''Hien:''' You knew her?
'''Tansui:''' Her family tried to flee to Hingashi during the occupation, but their ship was raided and sunk.
'''Tansui:''' When we happened upon the wreckage, she was huddled between her parents on a piece of flotsam, desperate to keep warm...but they had long since grown cold.
'''Tansui:''' We took her to Onokoro where we nursed her back to health. Couldn't imagine what horrors she must've witnessed. The mere sight of our weapons was enough to make her start screaming...
'''Tansui:''' She was clearly unfit for our trade, so we sought a village that might take her in. Isari was that village.
'''Tansui:''' Several months later, I chanced to meet her on this very beach. She was in the company of a young Auri fisherman, and I knew at once she had found more than a home there.
'''Tansui:''' I saw them here many times after that. She found something comforting about this place, I think...
'''Yugiri:''' According to reports from Radz-at-Han, the memories and desires of those who turn can influence their behavior as blasphemies...
'''Hien:''' Then perhaps Minato's memories are what compelled the beast to come here.
'''Tansui:''' That would also explain its timid nature.
'''Tansui:''' Minato was never one for violence, and the sight of you, blade drawn, no doubt stirred what little of the woman remains in the monster.
'''Hien:''' If that is the case, an assault on the Kienkan is unlikely, guarded as it is by our samurai. But how are we to fight an enemy so quick to flee at the first sign of danger?
'''Tansui:''' <sigh> Robbed of her parents, her husband...and now her life. I would rather we didn't have to at all.
'''Tansui:''' But I understand full well the risk we take by doing nothing. If we catch sight of the blasphemy again, you will be the first to know. Perhaps next time we can put her soul to rest.
-cutscene end

===Speak with Hien.===
-optional start
'''Yugiri:''' We scarcely had time to draw our weapons ere it fled. Perhaps we must reconsider our approach.
-optional end

'''Hien:''' There is naught to do now but bide our time. Come, let us return to the enclave.

===Speak with Hien at the Doman Enclave.===
-optional start
'''Yugiri:''' If the blasphemy fears to show itself, there is no telling how long it may take to track it down a second time.
-optional end

-cutscene start

'''Hien:''' Given what we have learned, it seems likely that the blasphemy will return to Shoal Rock. But that knowledge will avail us naught if we cannot prevent it from escaping again...
'''Kisei:''' Lord Hien. On behalf of the people of Isari, we are come with a request.
'''Hien:''' We welcome you with open arms and open hearts. What is it you would ask of me?
'''Kisei:''' Those returned to us in the prisoner exchange have been granted shelter at the Kienkan.
'''Kisei:''' That they yet live is an affront to the kami's grand design, and the spirits of our loved ones suffer for it. Balance must needs be restored, and so I beseech you to render them unto the goddess Izanami.
'''Hien:''' Absolutely not.
'''Hien:''' 'Tis not our place to pray for the death of others, nor draw steel to sate mere bloodlust.
'''Hien:''' When I take a life, be it by command or my own hand, I do so not in service to vengeance, but to uphold my duty to Doma and her people.
'''Kisei:''' How did your mercy for Yotsuyu serve your duty? How were your people made better by the sight of her walking free?
'''Hien:''' For her crimes and her cruelty, I cut her down the day we took Doma Castle. I sought to kill her, and by rights she should have died then and there.
'''Hien:''' But the kami willed otherwise, and returned her to us alive and bereft of her memories.
'''Hien:''' With no recollection of her deeds, it would have been Tsuyu who faced punishment, not Yotsuyu. This was my judgment, and for it you were denied the justice you deserved. You have every right to resent me.
'''Hien:''' But you come before me and ask that I sacrifice men and women whose only “crime” was to suffer─to be condemned to a life of servitude! If you truly believe your cause to be sacrosanct─believe yourselves fit to bear the burden and swing the sword─then step forward!
'''Kisei:''' Sophistry and lies! They were meant to die. The spirits demand it!
'''???:''' Are these the words of the dead, or the living who yet mourn?
'''Gosetsu:''' Word of the Isari priestess and her gifts has spread far and wide, and I thought to see the truth of it myself. By coincidence, I crossed paths with a traveler hailing from the selfsame village, who had a mind to return as well but, alas, could not. And so he bid me deliver a missive in his stead.
'''Gosetsu:''' Judging by the striking resemblance, I take it you are the young fisher Akitsu.
'''Akitsu:''' This...this is a letter from my father! He was severely wounded in battle, but expects to make a full recovery.
'''Akitsu:''' He's alive. But...that would mean...
'''Gosetsu:''' Surely a woman of your talents can ''divine'' a plausible explanation for this turn of events.
'''Kisei:''' ...You shall pay for this contumely. My daughter will make certain of that.

'''Gosetsu:''' Apologies for the abrupt and otherwise unannounced arrival. As you can see, my lord Hien, I am returned.
'''Hien:''' Full glad am I for it. Thanks to your timely arrival, we have given the lie to Kisei's claims of preternatural powers.
'''Yugiri:''' I gather you are apprised of recent events?
'''Gosetsu:''' Aye. It did not take long to learn the state of affairs here in Doma, and that my assistance may be required.
'''Gosetsu:''' I had heard tales of Kisei channeling the dead, including the father of one young fisherman. Imagine my surprise when I saw this spirit in the flesh. He was also on pilgrimage, paying respects to the departed, and we chanced to meet in a Liberation Front infirmary.
'''Gosetsu:''' Would that we were not brought back together under such circumstances, but I am glad to see you all hale and hearty.

'''Hien:''' Tonbo? Is something the matter?
'''Tonbo:''' I...I wish to apologize, Lord Hien. It was wrong of me to say the things I said.
'''Tonbo:''' I understand nothing can bring back my father. But I was so angry, I...
'''Hien:''' Please, Tonbo, you needn't apologize.
'''Tonbo:''' It's just... My brother was always so brave. But Father's death was more than he could bear, and it turned him into that monster. If he wasn't brave enough, what chance do I have...?
'''Tonbo:''' We wanted to perform the rites for Father. But the body was never returned to us, so...
'''Tonbo:''' N-Not that I blame you for that, Lord Hien. I understand nothing could be done...

'''Gosetsu:''' That Akitsu's father survived is nothing short of a miracle, but I fear he is indeed the rare exception. I have offered prayers at more graves than I can count. It would be cruel to give others the false hope that their loved ones might return.
'''Gosetsu:''' And yet Kisei continues to do just that, offering comfort with her lies.
'''Gosetsu:''' A tempting but ephemeral balm for wounds that have yet to heal. Much like the anger some harbor for you, or resentment for the families restored while theirs remain broken...
'''Gosetsu:''' But for those like that poor boy whose hearts lack for hatred, who know only sadness and despair...
'''Hien:''' Aye, they too may turn. Exposing the truth of Kisei's deception hasn't helped matters. If we are to prevent more suffering, we must pursue a lasting solution.
'''Hien:''' I would be most grateful for your counsel, Gosetsu. There is much I could learn from your pilgrimage.
'''Gosetsu:''' If there is aught you require, but say the word and it shall be done.
'''Gosetsu:''' It is the least I can do for the part I played in Yotsuyu's tragedy. I failed her in the end, but I will not fail you, my lord.
'''Hien:''' Thank you again for your aid, [Forename]. The day's events have given me much to consider. When our next step is decided, you will be first to know.
==Steps==
*Speak with [[Yugiri]] at [[Onokoro]].
*Speak with Yugiri and have her accompany you.
*Speak with the elders of [[Sui-no-Sato]] while accompanied by Yugiri.
*Speak with the elders of Sui-no-Sato while accompanied by Yugiri.
*Speak with Yugiri at Onokoro.
*Speak with [[Hien]] at [[the Doman Enclave]].

==Journal==
*There is work to be done, yet Yugiri appears reluctant to take action.

*Yugiri suspects Kisei hails from her home of Sui-no-Sato, and after asking the Kojin to inquire in her stead, she is all but certain. To learn more would require speaking with the people of Sui-no-Sato in person, a seemingly impossible task due to her exile imposed by the Ruby Princess. To that end, she asks you to lead the investigation while she accompanies you in disguise. She will meet you at Onokoro after donning a suitable guise.

*You arrive to find Yugiri dressed in the selfsame garbs she wore when you first met in Eorzea. Before departing, she explains to you the reason for her banishment─that her people feared she might drag them into Doma's war with the Empire. Putting the past aside for now, you press onward and downward, into the deep beneath the waves of the Ruby Sea.

*Kisei's banishment was likely decades ago, meaning only the elders among the village would remember what became of her. With that in mind, Yugiri asks you to walk about Sui-no-Sato, speak with her people, and see what you can learn.
**※You must be accompanied by Yugiri to complete this task. Speak with her again should you become separated.

*You approach an elderly man who, unfortunately, remembers little more than Kisei's name. Perhaps there is someone else in the village who remembers her.
**※You must be accompanied by Yugiri to complete this task. Speak with her again should you become separated.

*You speak with an elderly woman, and although she only recalls that Kisei was a priestess of the village, she tells you there yet remains someone who may have the knowledge you seek─Yunagi, Kisei's old childhood friend, and Yugiri's mother.
**※You must be accompanied by Yugiri to complete this task. Speak with her again should you become separated.

*Yunagi tells you of Kisei's past, and her gifts that drew the scrutiny of the Ruby Princess. Whether she does possess preternatural powers remains to be seen, but what is certain is her claims led to her exile. Before you part ways, Yunagi takes note of your disguised companion, and bids her deliver a message to one Yugiri Mistwalker: that her mother and father love her, and could not be more proud.

*Satisfied with this newfound piece to the puzzle of Kisei's past─and still unsure how to feel about her conversation with her mother─Yugiri bids you join her at the enclave to speak with Hien.

*While you were away, Hien has seen the former conscripts returned in the prisoner exchange to the Kienkan. With their safety assured, he has returned his attentions to the hunt for the blasphemy. It will not be long before he has need of your marksman's arm.
**※The next role quest will be available from Yugiri upon reaching level 88 in any physical ranged DPS class.

-optional start
'''Hakuro:''' Come to assist in the hunt for the blasphemy, are you? I pray you find your quarry soon. For all our sakes.
-optional end

===Accepting the quest===
'''Yugiri:''' Ah, [Forename]. If you are come to ask after the blasphemy, I have naught to share. As of yet, our shinobi have seen no sign of the beast.
'''Yugiri:''' The returnees, however, are all accounted for, and Lord Hien has seen them safely to the Kienkan. As such, he is presently assisting with the hunt.
'''Yugiri:''' For a blessing, there have been no reports of other villagers turning. And yet...
'''Yugiri:''' Before the situation takes a turn for the worse, there is a matter I feel warrants further investigation: Kisei.
'''Yugiri:''' Though a villager of Isari, I suspect she may, in fact, hail from my home, Sui-no-Sato.
'''Yugiri:''' Knowing they would be loath to answer my inquiries, I entreated the Kojin to contact Sui-no-Sato in my stead.
'''Yugiri:''' To hear tell of it, Princess Kurenai has made great strides in establishing stronger ties with the outside world. At mention of Kisei, however, their cordial warmth turned strangely cold...
'''Yugiri:''' If we are to learn more, I fear we have little choice but to go and speak with the people of Sui-no-Sato ourselves. A simple visit for you, I imagine, but my banishment complicates matters.
'''Yugiri:''' That said, it has been many years since I left home. Were I to disguise myself, I might well go unnoticed in your company. If you are willing to take the risk...?
'''Yugiri:''' Thank you. Let us make for Onokoro, then.

===Speak with Yugiri at Onokoro===
-cutscene start
'''Yugiri:''' The garments I wore when we first met. Sufficient, I think, to conceal my identity.
'''Yugiri:''' <sigh> How many years has it been since last I saw home?
'''Yugiri:''' I am a shinobi of Doma, aye, but even as a child, I sought to ensure the safety and survival of Sui-no-Sato.
'''Yugiri:''' I was quite bold in those days, if not a touch reckless, and together with the other children I often ventured beyond the borders of home.
'''Yugiri:''' We yearned for adventure, and so one day we sought to behold the wonders of Doma... Imagine our horror to discover a city of ruin and ash, imperial soldiers marching through the streets. We fled at the sight, but in my haste, I lost my way in the bamboo groves.
'''Yugiri:''' It was there I first met a young boy named Shun, a sweaty mess as he swung his wooden sword with reckless abandon. Training to fulfill his duty as a samurai, he said.
'''Yugiri:''' Having seen the destruction of which the Empire was capable, I too felt the need to protect my home. I joined him in his exercises, and every day my resolve to protect those I love grew.
'''Yugiri:''' Sadly, my elders refused to listen. They were content to remain hidden beneath the waves, and hopefully, the Empire's notice. With a heavy heart, I left in search of the strength I believed we sorely needed. And I found it as a shinobi.
'''Yugiri:''' But the people feared war and conflict would follow on my heels should I return... I do not begrudge them their decision, nor do I regret mine own.
'''Yugiri:''' Part of me is overjoyed at the thought of seeing home again. Openly defying the wishes of the Ruby Princess, however, would bode ill for my family. They have suffered enough for my transgressions.
'''Yugiri:''' That is why, for their sake, I would remain naught but a faceless shinobi at your employ.
'''Yugiri:''' Thank you. With that in mind, let us make for Sui-no-Sato.
===Speak with Yugiri and have her accompany you===
''At the end of the previous conversation, the player and Yugiri are automatically transported to the northern entrance of Sui-no-Sato.''

'''Yugiri:''' All these years, yet naught appears to have changed since the day I left...
'''Yugiri:''' But now is not the time to reminisce. We have work to do.
'''Yugiri:''' Kisei's departure from Sui-no-Sato was likely decades ago. Perhaps the village elders will know why she chose to leave.

System: ''Your next quest objective requires Escorting. You can leave Yugiri behind by entering a different area, or by speaking with her and selecting the option to part ways. If you wish to have Yugiri accompany you again, return and speak with her at the original location.''

===Speak with the elders of Sui-no-Sato while accompanied by Yugiri===
-optional start
'''Yugiri:''' <sigh> So many fond memories...
'''Yugiri:''' Ahem. Pay no mind to my idle musings. Lead on.
-optional end

'''Amiable Elder:''' Kisei? Hm. The name sounds familiar, and yet...
'''Amiable Elder:''' Apologies, friend. My memory is not what it once was.
'''Yugiri:''' Let us seek out another.

-optional start
'''Amiable Elder:''' I pray you find what you seek.
-optional end

'''Cheerful Elder:''' My, it has been quite some time since last I heard that name. She was a priestess of the village, banished after drawing the ire of the former Ruby Princess.
'''Cheerful Elder:''' What has become of her after all these years, I wonder?
'''Yugiri:''' Please, is there anything else you can tell us?
'''Cheerful Elder:''' Hmm... Yunagi was quite close with her, if memory serves. Perhaps you should seek her out.
'''Yugiri:''' Mother. I had hoped to avoid my parents, but if there is no other way... [Forename], might I ask you to take the lead?

-optional start
'''Cheerful Elder:''' Yunagi and Kisei were good friends, once upon a time. If anyone can tell you more of Kisei, it would be her.

'''Ihanami:''' I say, are you not the adventurer who aided Yugiri in Doma's liberation?
-optional end

===Speak with Yunagi while accompanied by Yugiri===
'''Yunagi:''' 'Tis good to see you again. To what do we owe the honor of your visit?

-cutscene start
'''Yunagi:''' Kisei... Yes, we were close. But that was a long, long time ago.
'''Yunagi:''' Still, if I can be of assistance to the woman to whom we owe so much, I will share all I know.
'''Yunagi:''' Kisei was born to a family of priests, and even at an early age, she was possessed of extraordinary abilities. Much was expected of her...but everything changed the day she said she could speak with the dead.
'''Yunagi:''' No one believed her, at first. But she continued to insist she could, and strove to prove it by demonstrating knowledge well beyond her years. Knowledge of events to which she could not have been privy.
'''Yunagi:''' Word of her talent eventually reached the Ruby Princess, and she was summoned to Shisui of the Violet Tides for a private audience.
'''Yunagi:''' No one knows what Kisei said to her in the palace. Only that the princess was incandescent with rage, and ordered her exile forthwith.
'''Yunagi:''' Some believe Kisei revealed a terrible secret of the royal house, or perhaps spoke a blatant falsehood that proved her a liar.
'''Yunagi:''' Indeed, the knowledge she claimed to divine from the dead was not always truthful. But who is to say the dead would know the truth, or not seek to deceive? Thus could we never be certain if it was simply a fantasy or a power divine.
'''Yunagi:''' The one thing that is certain is that no small number of people found comfort in her words.
'''Yunagi:''' Would that I could tell you more, but sadly I have not seen or spoken with Kisei since her banishment.
'''Yunagi:''' Forgive me, but...have we met your companion before? She looks familiar.

'''''What will you say?'''''
> I believe this is the first time our humble shinobi has visited Sui-no-Sato.
'''Yunagi:''' Ah, is that so? For the briefest of moments, you reminded me of someone quite dear to my heart.
> I imagine she does, considering she's Y─
'''Yugiri:''' Y-You could not possibly know me. I am but a lowly shinobi of Doma. Nothing more.

'''Yunagi:''' Being a shinobi, I presume you have heard tales of Yugiri Mistwalker. Should you chance to meet her, may I ask you to deliver her a message?
'''Yunagi:''' Tell her that her mother and father love her. That we could not be more proud of her.
'''Yugiri:''' I... I will.
'''Yugiri:''' I have no doubt she feels the same, and not a day goes by without you in her thoughts.
'''Yugiri:''' Ahem. I believe we have heard enough. Shall we return to Onokoro?

===Speak with Yugiri at Onokoro.===
''After the conclusion of the previous conversation, the player is teleported back to the pier where they met Yugiri previously.''

-cutscene start

'''Yugiri:''' My apologies for placing you in so peculiar a situation.
'''Yugiri:''' Though I must confess, it did my heart good to see Mother and Father well.
'''Yugiri:''' All the more reason I must do all I can to keep the peace. As a shinobi of Doma─no, as a member of the Eastern alliance.
'''Yugiri:''' Mayhap there will come a day when Sui-no-Sato opens to the world. A day when Yugiri Mistwalker can be reunited with her mother and father.
'''Yugiri:''' Would that Lord Hien could be afforded the same opportunity.
'''Yugiri:''' But Lord Kaien and Lady Mina have long since passed. Two of too many lives lost in the imperial occupation.
'''Yugiri:''' I cannot imagine he would ever succumb to despair, but make no mistake─Lord Hien knows the pain of his people all too well. I can see it in his eyes, and if I may be honest, it troubles me at times.
'''Yugiri:''' ...But perhaps I have said too much.
'''Yugiri:''' Come. We mustn't keep him waiting.
-cutscene end

===Speak with Hien at the Doman Enclave.===
-optional start
'''Yugiri:''' For a blessing, Onokoro appears to be untouched by the recent chaos. For now, at least.
-optional end

'''Hien:''' Welcome back. I trust your journey proved an enlightening one?
'''Hien:''' So she does, in fact, hail from Sui-no-Sato. And you say she has possessed these divine gifts since childhood?
'''Hien:''' Genuine or no, the people believe her, and more flock to her side with every passing day.
'''Hien:''' But the returnees are safe at the Kienkan, its defenses bolstered.
'''Hien:''' As for the blasphemy, I have spoken with our Confederate allies, among others, and together we will establish a network of contacts across the length and breadth of Doma to take up the search in earnest. Mark my words─we ''will'' find it.
==Walkthrough==
* Accept the quest from [[Yugiri]]
* As [[Isari]] has no Aetheryte of its own, you have a few options for how to get there:
** [[Onokoro]] -> Westward flight
** [[Namai]] -> Northeast into [[The Ruby Sea]],
** [[Reunion]] -> Southward flight into [[The Ruby Sea]]
* Speak with [[Hien]] and [[Yugiri]]
* The first villager is on the ground floor. Second villager is on the stairs. Third is all the way up the stairs and southwest near some crates.

==Steps==
* Search for [[Hien]] in [[Isari]].
* Gather information from the villagers. 0/3
* Speak with Hien.
* Speak with Hien.
* Speak with Hien.
* Speak with Hien at the [[Doman Enclave]].

==Journal==
* Lord Hien's extended absence from the enclave does not sit well with Yugiri.

* The whereabouts of the blasphemy remain unknown. Lord Hien, meanwhile, was last said to be visiting the village of Isari, though Yugiri fears he has been away overlong. She invites you to accompany her there and see if aught is amiss.

* You find Lord Hien none the worse for wear, but as he explains it, the people of Isari have been less than hospitable. For reasons unknown, the villagers refuse to speak with hi8m. The reason for their silence remains to be seen, but Lord Hien hopes they will be more forthcoming with information if you or Yugiri speak with them.

* You learn of a woman named Kisei and her stepdaughter, who she claims was transformed not into a blasphemy, but a great kami known as Izanami. The villagers also confess a resentment towards Lord Hien for his failure to bring Yotsuyu to justice in their eyes. Satisfied with what you have learned you reconvene with Yugiri and Lord Hien to share your findings.

* Hien and Yugiri are incredulous at the suggestion that a woman of the village transformed into anything but a blasphemy. Nevertheless, many people of Isari are firmly convinced. It has also been claimed that Kisei has the power to commune with the dead. Knowing she plans to demonstrate her powers at a nearby tavern, you and Yugiri go to bear witness firsthand.

* To Yugiri's surprise, Kisei's display is quite compelling. After a young man finishes conversing with what all believe is his departed father, others raise their voices in desperation, begging to speak with their loved ones. Having seen enough, you return to Lord Hien to share what you observed.

* You speak with Lord Hien of the assembly in the tavern, but before you can decide on your next move, a cry is heard in the distance, you run to render aid but arrive too late-the blasphemy has come and gone, leaving another victim in its wake. Kisei joins soon after, an entourage of her followers in tow. She reaffirms her belief that her daughter has become a kami, and that she will redress the balance between the living and the dead.

* Recent events in Isari weigh heavy on Lord Hien's mind. He invites you back to the Doman Enclave to discuss his next course of action.

* Lord Hien is convinced the blasphemy is targeting those who were returned to Doma in the prisoner exchange. He intends to call together and move them to a secure location, that his hunt for the blasphemy may be carried out without fear of further tragedy.
**※The next role quest will be available from Yugiri upon reaching level 87 in any physical ranged DPS class.
===Accepting the Quest===
'''Yugiri:''' Ah, [Forename]. We have yet to ascertain the whereabouts of the blasphemy from Isari, but, for a blessing, we have received no reports of others that have turned.
'''Yugiri:''' Lord Hien, for his part, has made a concerted effort to go about the villages and converse with his subjects directly. I suspect his constant presence has served to allay the peoples' fears.
'''Yugiri:''' As one might expect, he has ever been dedicated and diligent, but I fear he has been away overlong.
'''Yugiri:''' I thought to go and visit what should have been his last destination, Isari. Might I ask you to accompany me?
'''Yugiri:''' Thank you. I am sure there is no cause for concern, but nevertheless, I should be glad to find him quickly.
-quest accepted
===Meeting in Isari===
-optional start
'''Yugiri:''' Thank goodness we found him. But why has he remained here so long, I wonder.
-optional end

'''Hien:''' [Forename]. Yugiri. My apologies if I gave you cause for concern. Assessing the state of affairs here in Isari has proven...difficult.
'''Hien:''' To put it simply, the people─one and all─refuse to speak with me. They simply bow their heads and turn away at my approach.
'''Hien:''' Knowing the blasphemy originated here, I cannot help but wonder if that has aught to do with their silence.
'''Hien:''' Perhaps you could attempt to engage with the people in my stead? Surely they have no cause to deny the two of you.

'''Yugiri:''' I should hope not. Nevertheless, I will don a disguise, lest I draw undue attention. Come, [Forename]. Let us see what we can discover.

'''Hien:''' Thank you. Both of you.

-optional start
'''Hien:''' Do the people here not wish for the monstrosity to be laid low and for peace to reign once more? Why have they elected to behave in this manner?
-optional end

====Gather information from the villagers====
'''Burly Villager:''' I owe a great debt to Lord Hien. If not for him, I would still be fighting under the imperial standard...
'''Burly Villager:''' But the village suffered dearly under the occupation. What's more, our lord failed to punish the viceroy for her crimes, and failed to reunite many with their loved ones. I understand why some would think poorly of him, even if I do not.

-optional start
'''Burly Villager:''' Many villagers were heartbroken when they learned that their loved ones were not included in the prisoner exchange. Even so, I wish they would not lay all blame for that at the feet of Lord Hien.
-optional end

'''Kami-fearing Villager:''' A blasphemy? You are mistaken, my friend. Our village was visited not by a monster, but a kami─Izanami!
'''Kami-fearing Villager:''' Where Lord Hien is cold and callous, She offers us boundless compassion and love.

-optional start
'''Kami-fearing Villager:''' Praise be to Izanami, goddess of creation and bringer of death!
-optional end

'''Concerned Villager:''' Aye, that's right. The blasphemy was born of a young woman here in Isari. Tragic, really. Every day she prayed for the safe return of her husband, but it was not to be...
'''Concerned Villager:''' If I am to be honest, I fear the loss drove her poor stepmother mad. Kisei has ever been a devout believer in the kami and their blessings, but she's somehow convinced herself that Minato has become one.
'''Concerned Villager:''' The delusions of a grieving parent, obviously, but an alarming number of people have come to share in her belief. Heresy is what it is.

-optional start
'''Concerned Villager:''' The peoples' misplaced faith in this false Izanami worries me. Something must be done about this, and soon...
-optional end

===Return to Hien===
-optional start
'''Yugiri:''' The situation here in Isari is...complicated, to say the least.
-optional end

'''Hien:''' I see... Little wonder they would refuse to confide in me. The belief held by some that this blasphemy is a kami, however, is quite concerning.
'''Hien:''' Izanami presides over life and death. She gave birth to the nation of Doma, and ushers souls of the departed unto the land of the dead.
'''Hien:''' I trust you understand what it would mean to deny them a source of hope in such dark times, even one such as this...

'''Yugiri:''' The villagers also claim this Kisei can speak with the dead. In fact, she will be holding a gathering to demonstrate her powers ere long.

'''Hien:''' The perfect opportunity to gauge the extent of their fanaticism. Not for me, of course─my presence would draw undue attention. Might I ask you both to attend in my stead?

'''Yugiri:''' Her followers will be gathering in the tavern. Come.

-cutscene start

'''Kisei:''' O spirits of Isari, I beseech you. Lend me your voice and let your presence be known. Cross the veil and be among us once more!

'''???:''' ...Akitsu.

'''Akitsu:''' Father...?

'''???:''' Still tending the nets...like I taught you...?

'''Akitsu:''' Y-Yes, Father! Every day. Thanks to you, we never want for fish. Our bellies are never empty.
'''Akitsu:''' I was...I am proud to be your son. I was always too embarrassed to tell you before, but...

'''???:''' And I...am proud to have been your father... May you be ever blessed...by the sea's bounty.
'''???:''' Ugh...argh... It hurts...

'''Akitsu:''' Father, what's wrong!?

'''Kisei:''' He is in terrible pain, my child.
'''Kisei:''' Those who have cheated death's design yet live. It has disrupted the natural order, and the spirits suffer for it.

'''Akitsu:''' What must we do to ease their pain?

'''Kisei:''' Fear not. Izanami shall put all to rights.
'''Kisei:''' She will claim the souls not long for this world and deliver them unto the hereafter. When Her work is finished, your father's spirit, and all the others, will find peace.

'''Tonbo:''' Can you find my father? Can you help me speak with him?

'''Wishful Woman:''' Kisei, Kisei! Can you commune with my husband?

'''Wishful Man:''' What about my family? Help me, Kisei, please!

-cutscene end

-optional start
'''Yugiri:''' She seemed convincing enough, but... Was that truly Akitsu's father that spoke through her?
-optional end

===Speak with Hien===
'''Hien:''' So, is Kisei's ability all that she claims?

-cutscene start

'''Hien:''' A young man spoke with his dearly departed father through her? I find that rather hard to believe...

'''Yugiri:''' Even so, those in attendance appeared quite convinced, my lord.

'''Hien:''' And I suspect a great many of the villagers I've spoken with recently are as well.
'''Hien:''' Everywhere I went, the people were in so much pain, and there was nothing I could do or say to give them solace.
'''Hien:''' Yet for all their anguish, there has not been a single report of villagers turning since the incident with Tonbo's brother.
'''Hien:''' Which can only mean word of Kisei and her ability to speak with the deceased has spread. The belief we can commune with our loved ones in death is a comfort far beyond my power to provide.
'''Hien:''' Though I fail to see how the people would abide the kami claiming innocent lives to restore order...

'''Terrified Villager:''' She comes! Izanami!

'''Hien:''' The blasphemy!? Here?

''Hien, Yugiri, and the player run up the beach. The scene changes.''

'''Terrified Villager:''' Lord Hien! The kami, sh-she appeared as if from nowhere, and in the next instant this poor man was...was...

'''Hien:''' So we were too late...

What will you say?
> I spoke with him before in Isari!
> Wasn't he one of the villagers returned in the prisoner exchange?
---

'''Hien:''' You recognize him, then?
'''Hien:''' Curious that he and the blasphemy's first victim were former conscripts. What could the fiend be after, I wonder?

'''???:''' It does not become my lord to speak ill of the kami.
'''Kisei:''' I understand you are come to investigate the rumors of a monster born in our village. A blasphemy, you called it. But you are sorely mistaken.
'''Kisei:''' My stepdaughter, Minato, was chosen to serve as a vessel for Izanami. I witnessed her ascension with my own eyes.

''Start of Echo Flashback''

'''Kisei:''' Minato, please!

'''Minato:''' I can't...I won't! There's no logic in it...no justice...
'''Minato:''' The witch of Doma spared, given a second chance...and my husband, condemned to die as a conscript...
'''Minato:''' I'll never know what became of him. Lord Hien can't give me even that. And when I look at the families he made whole, at their happiness...I feel the hole in my heart, the gaping wound that will never heal, begin to bleed...

''Minato's body is engulfed in black flame.''

'''Minato:''' Only at my beloved's side will I find peace.

'''Kisei:''' You mustn't lose faith, Minato. All will be well. Trust in the kami─in Izanami!

'''Minato:''' I...I want to believe...but...

''Minato transforms and Kisei backs away in fear as Minato flies away.''

''End of Echo Flashback''

'''Kisei:''' Izanami is come to bring peace to the souls of the departed. To restore balance between their world and ours. Surely you would not dare defy the will of the kami?

'''Hien:''' This ''balance'' you speak of has claimed the lives of two innocents but recently returned to us. I cannot─I will not─accept that the kami would condone such cruelty.

'''Kisei:''' No crueler than the sight of Yotsuyu free and forgiven, while my husband and son fought Garlemald's wars. Now dead and forgotten in a foreign land.
'''Kisei:''' With all due respect, Lord Hien, is it not your duty to protect Doma and her people? How are we to place our faith in the man who places the enemy's safety and well-being above that of his own subjects?
'''Kisei:''' Only the kami are deserving of our adoration. As they have always been.

===Speak with Hien===
-optional start
'''Yugiri:''' Are you all right? For a moment you seemed unwell.
-optional end

'''Hien:''' The villagers are no doubt loath to ask it of me, but preparations must be made for burials and funeral rites. I can offer that much, at least...
'''Hien:''' You seemed distracted during our conversation with Kisei. Is something the matter?

''Player-avatar makes conversational motions.''

'''Hien:''' ...The Echo. And the blasphemy was indeed born of her stepdaughter...
'''Hien:''' To bear witness to such horror... How her mind must have struggled to comprehend what she saw.
'''Hien:''' And as a woman of faith, perhaps her only surviving family becoming one with the divine was the only reality with which she could come to terms.
'''Hien:''' I believe I know now what must be done. I but pray her fervor does not drive her to oppose us. Come, let us return to the enclave.

===Speak with Hien at the Doman Enclave===
-optional start
'''Yugiri:''' What do you suppose Lord Hien intends to do?
-optional end

'''Hien:''' From what you told me of your vision, the nature of Minato's despair, as well as the focus of her ire, is clear.
'''Hien:''' 'Tis plain she was a good-natured and kind-hearted woman, grieving for the loss of her husband.
'''Hien:''' This loss alone may not have been enough to turn her, but my failure to hold Yotsuyu to account, together with the sight of other families reunited, compounded the turmoil in her broken heart.
'''Hien:''' A path to despair paved by my good intentions. A truth that will weigh heavy on my conscience unto my dying day.
'''Hien:''' Minato was prepared to die in sadness rather than live in hatred. If she could see the beast she has become, she would implore us to stop her.
'''Hien:''' Which is why we must find the others who were returned to us in the prisoner exchange before they come to harm.
'''Hien:''' Once their safety is assured, we may hunt down the blasphemy and bring a close to this tragedy.

==Steps==
* Speak with [[Yugiri]] at the [[Doman Enclave]].
* Speak with the [[Vexed Villager]] at [[the Glittering Basin]].
* Seek out and defeat the beast.
* Speak with [[Hien]] at the Doman Enclave.

==Journal==
* The Doman Delegate is seeking able-bodied adventurers on behalf of Lord Hien.

* At the mere sight of you, the Doman delegate is equal parts excited and relived. As he tells it, dread beasts heralding the Final Days have begun to manifest in Doma, following the appearance of a blastphemy. Though they have made great strides in slaying the lesser creatures, the greater threat continues to elude them, keeping to the heavens and beyond the reach of their samurai and shinobi. To that end, Lord Hien seeks a marksman able to pluck the beast from the sky. You agree to answer their call for aid, and so he begs you make for the Doman Enclave, where Yugiri will receive you.

* Your discussion with Hien and Yugiri is cut short when a vexed villager interrupts with grave news. A young man of Namai recently transformed into a terrible beast, inciting panic as it fled. Hien would take swift action in slaying the creature, and so he and Yugiri leave with the villager for the Glittering Basin, and you are to follow.

* You find the beast preparing to sink its fangs into a frightened young boy. Thanks to your timely arrival, and unmatched martial prowess, its meal is denied. ALl that remains is to ensure the boy is unharmed.

* Much to the surprise of all, the young boy is not thankful, but furious as he accuses you of killing his brother. He runs off in a huff, and shortly after Isse arrives. It would seem that the young boy, Tonbo, pursued the beast born of his sibling when it fled their village, and Isse gave chase to ensure he did not come to harm. He goes on to explain circumstances that have left the people of his village, and perhaps all of Doma, in the grips of despair. The youth's account gives Hien much to consider as you all return to the Doman Enclave.

* Hien has a mind to visit the villages of Doma personally and inquire after those whom their neighbors believe are more distressed of late-individuals that he fears may be at risk of sharing in the fate of Tonbo's brother. Meanwhile, Yugiri and the other shinobi will continue to hunt the blasphemy that yet eludes them. Until more is known, Hien bids you to rest, that you may be ready and able to aid them once more.
** ※The next role quest will be available from Yugiri upon reaching level 86 in any physical ranged DPS class.
===Accepting the Quest===
'''Doman Delegate:''' Do mine eyes deceive me? {{alternatives|f=Lady|m=Lord}} [Forename]! Oh, thank the kami.
'''Doman Delegate:''' Lord [[Hien]] has requested assistance in the resolution of a most urgent matter─the hunt for a fell beast believed to be a blasphemy.
'''Doman Delegate:''' Though we have made great strides in ensuring the safety of our people, we fear even our finest shinobi will be no match for this enemy, for it commands the skies of Doma.
'''Doman Delegate:''' But as your talent for striking down foes at a distance is beyond compare, I can think of no one better to aid us in overcoming this adversary.

Question: What will you say?
> 'Twould be my pleasure.
> Well, if no other marksman is up to the task...
'''Hien:''' Well, well, that the kami should guide your steps to our door once more, and with such fortuitous timing.
'''Hien:''' Pray forgive me for not affording you a hero's welcome, but time is not on our side.
'''Hien:''' Not long after receiving word of men transforming into hideous beasts in Thavnair, a similar creature was born of a woman in Isari. After attacking another villager, it took to the skies and fled, though to where we know not.
'''Hien:''' An all too cruel twist of fate, for the one slain was among the prisoners returned to us in that deplorable exchange with Asahi and the Empire. Just when they had at last begun to piece their life back together...
'''Hien:''' This blasphemy must be stopped. Alas, our foe is wont to keep to the skies, well beyond the reach of our samurai and shinobi.
'''Hien:''' Thus did we seek the aid of those proficient in ranged combat, able to pluck the beast from the heavens.
'''Hien:''' Of course, martial prowess alone will not solve our problems─others have turned into weaker but no less gruesome abominations, as was the case in Thavnair, and their numbers increase by the day.
'''Hien:''' From what I understand, this phenomenon is not unlike a sickness which spreads by feeding on fear and anxiety. Emotions which, of late, can be found in abundance. Slaying the beasts means nothing if the peoples' hearts cannot be put at ease.

'''???:''' Lord Hien!

''The mystery speaker walks into view, and is revealed to be the "vexed villager."''

'''Vexed Villager:''' You have to help! The villagers─they...they...

'''Yugiri:''' Sir, please─calm yourself, and tell us what happened.

'''Vexed Villager:''' Another has been turned in Namai, my lord! For a blessing, no one was harmed when the beast flew into a rage, but...the people are in a panic! I fear what may happen next.

'''Hien:''' It would seem we have even less time than I thought.
'''Hien:''' Worry not. We will see to the beast.
'''Hien:''' As of yet, there is no cure for this affliction...but we will save what lives we can. I promise you.
'''Hien:''' I trust you are ready to join the fray?

'''Vexed Villager:''' It was last seen near the Glittering Basin. Come, I will show you.
-cutscene end

Upon finishing the prior conversation, the player is automatically teleported to the target location near [[Namai]], at no cost.

-optional start
'''Hien:''' Without a cure, we've no choice but to cut them down before they can cause more harm.

'''Yugiri:''' Still no sign of the beast. Or any other, for that matter...
-optional end

===Speak with the vexed villager at the Glittering Basin===
'''Vexed Villager:''' The beast was right here, I swear it.

'''Hien:''' I thank you for leading us here, but it is not safe. Please, return to your village.

''The villager leaves.''

'''Hien:''' We should split up if we're to have any chance of finding it. [Forename], would you see to the west? I will search in the north. Yugiri, I leave the east to you.
'''Hien:''' If you find it, remember─these blasphemies are no longer people. They will not hesitate to strike you down, so you mustn't either.
'''Hien:''' Now, let us not waste any more time.

''Hien and Yugiri depart and then the conversation ends.''

=== Aid the Frightened Youth===
-cutscene start
'''Hien:''' Are you all right? We heard shouting and came as fast as we could.

'''Yugiri:''' It would appear [Forename] arrived not a moment too soon.

'''Frightened Youth:''' Why...
'''Frightened Youth:''' Why did you kill my brother!?

'''Hien:''' Your brother...?
'''Hien:''' Young man, that creature was not your kin. Not anymore. Had {{alternatives|f=she|m=he}} not laid it to rest, it would have killed you, and countless others.
'''Hien:''' But if your heart cries out for one to blame, let it be me. The beast was slain at my behest, for it was the only way...

'''Frightened Youth:''' No! No, you're wrong! You killed him! Murdered him! I hate you!

''The boy runs away.''

''Isse walks into the frame and approaches the group.''

'''Yugiri:''' Isse? What are you doing here?

'''Isse:''' Searching for Tonbo, though clearly you found him first. The monster was his older brother, as you may have guessed, and Tonbo gave chase the moment it ran off.
'''Isse:''' I beg you forgive him for his outburst.
'''Isse:''' His brother was all he had left. Their father was conscripted by the Empire and was, regrettably, not among those returned to us in the recent exchange of prisoners.
'''Isse:''' The hope they might one day be reunited was their only comfort when that...when the viceroy still ruled. I can only imagine how they felt when she walked into Isari, a shadow of her former self.
'''Isse:''' "Tsuyu“ may have had no memories of the monster she was, but her victims still see her in their dreams. Nevertheless, like many, the brothers prayed your mercy would see their family restored...
'''Isse:''' But then they learned of her death, and of their father's absence. Deprived of hope and of hate all at once, they had...nothing.
'''Isse:''' Ah! M-My apologies for rambling.

'''Hien:''' No. No, it was a rather enlightening tale.
'''Hien:''' I spared the woman who brought him pain, and took the brother who brought him comfort.
'''Hien:''' Aye...I would hate me too.
'''Hien:''' I swear I will set things right for Tonbo. For all the people of Doma. Please, return home, Isse, and be safe.

''Isse leaves.''

'''Hien:''' Let us return to the Doman Enclave. This ordeal has given me much to consider.
-cutscene end

===Speak with Hien at the Doman Enclave===
-optional start
'''Yugiri:''' I do not envy Lord Hien the burden now thrust upon him. But he shall not have to bear it alone.
-optional end

'''Hien:''' I owe you a great debt for your timely assistance. And an apology, for I've made you an executioner in young Tonbo's eyes. Would that I had been the one he witnessed cut down the beast his brother had become.
'''Hien:''' But we haven't time to dwell on regrets and what should have been. No, we need to take action, and after hearing of Tonbo and his brother, I believe I know what must be done.
'''Hien:''' A great many of our brothers and sisters were returned to us in the prisoner exchange. But even so, there are those who yet remain lost to us.
'''Hien:''' Meanwhile, Yotsuyu, who was directly responsible for much of our people's suffering, was never held to account for her crimes. In death, she claimed vengeance for her suffering at the hands of her brother, but it came at the expense of justice for her countless victims.
'''Hien:''' The people of Doma have every right to resent me for failing them and their grief. But what of those who cannot bring themselves to do even that─who are left alone with their anger and their pain?

'''Yugiri:''' It may well give way to despair, and then...

'''Hien:''' They would share the same fate as Tonbo's brother, yes.
'''Hien:''' Which is why we must needs consider who else might share in his anguish, ere we find ourselves beset by more beasts.
'''Hien:''' I will begin making rounds of the villages to inquire after those whom their neighbors believe are more distressed of late.

'''Yugiri:''' Very good. I and the other shinobi shall continue our search for the blasphemy which set these events in motion.

'''Hien:''' And you, my friend─we will have need of your talents again ere long. Rest assured we will keep you apprised of our findings.
