Aether Currents are required to unlock the ability to fly on [[mounts]]. Each [[locations|zone]] released in [[Heavensward]] (3.0) has 15 Aether Currents. Players are required to attune to all 15 Aether Currents to unlock flying in that zone. Some Aether Currents are found scatter through the zone (blue->green), others are rewarded by completing [[Main Scenario Quests]] and [[Side Quests]] (red->yellow). Aether Currents in field look like greenish blobs of wind, players can right click on them to attune. Players can check their attunement progress through the Aether Currents window under Travel in the main menu.

==Unlock==
Aether Currents are unlocked after completing the 3.0 [[Main Scenario Quest]] [[Divine Intervention]]. The same quest that awards the player the [[Black Chocobo]] and [[Aether Compass]].

==Aether Compass==
Aether Compass gives you the bring and distance of the nearest Aether Current upon use. It is used to locate Aether Currents in the field and can be found in your Key Items tab of your bag.. If you lose it you can talk to [[Gibrillont]] at the Forgotten Knight to get another.
