Steps
* Activate the teleportation device.
* Speak with the ancient spirit.
* Speak with the ancient spirit again.
* Survey the destination.
* Search the Watcher's Palace for the source of the voice.

Journal
*G'raha Tia is pondering the technological marvel you have just beheld.

*You rouse G'raha Tia from his intense contemplation, and he informs you that the device Fandaniel used to transport himself and Zenos to the moon is of Allagan design. After taking a moment to speculate as to the Ascian's lingering attachment to the life he led as Amon, he sends you on your way with a few words of encouragement.
**※In the event that you leave the Nethergate, you may re-enter by speaking with the Lente's arrow in the Enceladeum.

*Having availed yourself of similar teleportation devices in the past, there is no need to question the safety of this one. Nevertheless, it does come as a bit of a relief when you are painlessly transported to the moon in a rush of aetherial energy.

*No sooner do you arrive on the moon than do you hear a strange, haunting voice call to you. The ally of whom Hydaelyn spoke, or someone else...?

*You approach a tall figure you find wandering nearby, only to be attacked by specters of grief─demonstrating that you could stand to be a little more prudent in your search for a friendly face. However, for lack of a better plan...

*You attempt to prod the ancient spirit again, but it vanishes ere the voice you heard earlier echoes in the distance once more. It now gives more specific instructions, summoning you to “cerulean halls.”

*Though you arrive at the aforementioned cerulean halls, you find your immediate surrounds empty. You can but hope the source of the voice is secreted deeper within.

*You at last locate the source of the voice, who identifies himself as “the watcher,” keeper of Zodiark's seal. He tells you that he has restored one of the brands that keep the god of Darkness imprisoned, but that he cannot tend to the remnants of the other four, beset as they are by the restless spirits of sacrificed ancients that now wander the moon. He assures you that even should you expel them from where they stand, they will not be consigned to oblivion so long as Zodiark remains the moon's captive, and thus requests that you aid him in maintaining that stasis.

Dialogue
Optional dialogue
Urianger: Fear not for Krile. Go forth...and return, I prithee.

Y'shtola: She channeled a dangerous amount of aether. And that's to say nothing of the teleportation magick she must have used to get here.
Y'shtola: Yet Krile and Hydaelyn both were clearly willing to take the risk. Hmm.

Krile: ...

Thancred: We're moving out to rendezvous with the remainder of the contingent. Leave everything here to us.

Alisaie: Stand there for just a moment, please.
Alisaie: ...A prayer for good luck. Now you can't possibly fail!

Alphinaud: I have faith in you. Now and always.

Estinien: We've no time for worrying over what's done. Let's go.

G'raha Tia: As I suspected...

Accepting the quest
G'raha Tia: My apologies ─ I was lost in thought. This device is of Allagan design, which leads me to think I was right about Fandaniel.
G'raha Tia: No matter what he claims, he still has an attachment to the trappings of his past...
G'raha Tia: Whether knowing this will make your path forward clearer, I cannot say, but bear it in mind.
G'raha Tia: But let us turn to the task at hand. As Hydaelyn said, the flow of aether will transport you to Mare Lamentorum.
G'raha Tia: We must hope this ally of Hers can provide you with the necessary assistance to restore the seal before Zenos and Fandaniel arrive to stop you.
G'raha Tia: It seems we are ever one step behind, but I have faith that you'll make up the difference.
G'raha Tia: Know that whatever awaits, our prayers are with you. Now go ─ beyond the sky!

Optional dialogue
G'raha Tia: Spare a glance our way from on high, will you? We shall not waver, knowing that you're counting on us.

Activate the teleportation device.
Long, long before Dalamud was forged to imprison an elder primal...
The eldest of them all ─ savior of the star ─ was sealed within a moon of His own.
Souls sacrificed to grant Him life still slumber and dream of the day He and we will be made whole.
Here He waits, in this cold, barren place. His cradle and His grave.
Silent lamentations and prayers of hope echo soundlessly to a sundered star, adrift and alone.

Distant Echo: You... With me...
Distant Echo: Hydaelyn's champion...

Speak with the ancient spirit.
Ancient Spirit: I... I...
Ancient Spirit: Return... I must...return...
Ancient Spirit: Why... Why... Why!?

The ancient's grief form and lashes out!

Speak with the ancient spirit again. (Cutscene)
Ancient Spirit: Home... I want... I need...
Distant Echo: You mustn't...touch...
Distant Echo: In cerulean halls...find me...

Survey the destination.
No steps echo through this looming spire save your own, but you nevertheless sense a presence above...

Search the Watcher's Palace for the source of the voice. (Cutscene)
The Watcher: Apologies. I have been preoccupied for quite some time, and am...out of practice at conversation...
The Watcher: Ever since this moon was created by Hydaelyn, I have served as...an integral part. I am the watcher.
The Watcher: I am responsible for the prisoner and the devices that hold Him fast.
The Watcher: Zodiark Himself. A projection of the moon's core.
The Watcher: Though rent asunder by Hydaelyn, He grows more powerful with every Rejoining. Seven there have been. Seven too many...
The Watcher: And yet, for all His servants' machinations, He remains incomplete. The fallen are beyond salvation.
The Watcher: No attempt would be made to free Zodiark. Not until He is whole once more.
The Watcher: But someone has taken action. The shackles that hold Him nearly shattered.
The Watcher: Six locks to his gaol, great and grand.
The Watcher: Gargantuan swords driven deep. Brands to bind Zodiark forevermore.
The Watcher: Five were destroyed by his would-be liberator. One of these I have restored.
The Watcher: I strive to mend the remaining four, but my efforts are being impeded...
The Watcher: Souls sacrificed to summon Zodiark, their manifestation consequence of the waning seal.
The Watcher: They labor in opposition to my work. They must be expelled for the preservation of all.

What will you say?
> If keeping Zodiark imprisoned is the right thing to do, I will aid you.
The Watcher: What is right and good? Ask a thousand souls and receive a thousand answers. I offer none.
> I will only resort to "expelling" them if all else fails.
The Watcher: Of that I have no doubt. You are Her chosen.

The Watcher: I am the watcher and the gaoler. I am not the judge.
The Watcher: Know this. Hydaelyn commands the forces of stasis, and this moon is the product of such power.
The Watcher: So long as Zodiark remains imprisoned in this place, no more sacrifices will be made in His name. Nor will those souls rendered up in His name fade into oblivion.
The Watcher: Go. Meet with these wandering spirits. Do what you think is right.

*Stand by at the boat.
*Enter the Tower of Zot.

Journal
*Krile glances at you with expectant eyes.

*In the Baldesion Annex, you and your fellow Scions gather to share the findings of your investigations in Sharlayan and Radz–at–Han. Krile is of the opinion that assaulting the Tower of Zot should be the highest priority, and having conceived of a strategy, the party sets forth for Thavnair. Upon arriving on the island, you are to first regroup at the outpost at the Hamsa Hatchery.

*Arriving at the outpost, you are greeted by Nahbdeen, who bids you stand by at the boat which will bear you to the tower.

*After a short wait, your comrades join you at the boat. Some have weathered the aetheryte journey better than others, but all stand ready to breach the tower. Having received the warding scales from Varshahn, you make a final review of your strategy, which will see your forces divided into two groups; yours will fight its way to the tower's core, while the other will focus on keeping the prisoners alive until they can be set free. With that, naught remains to be done but give the word to launch the boat and commence the operation.
** ※To enlist your companion NPCs for this duty, speak with them near the entrance or access Duty Support via the main menu. Use the Duty Finder if you wish to complete the instance alongside fellow players.

*Inside the tower's forbidding interior, you cut a path through tempered imperial soldiers and confront three Manusya of Thavnairian myth made manifest─the Magus Sisters. Though these unfamiliar primals are formidable, you eventually emerge the victor, thereby neutralizing the spire's defenses.

*Employing her ability to see aether, Y'shtola identifies the tower's core, which, to her dismay, appears to hold a man's severed limb. To who it once belonged and why it is there is a mystery, but it is undoubtedly what sustains the structure, and so Estinien wastes no time destroying it. With nothing to perpetuate its existence, the tower begins to fade─along with the floor beneath your feet─but thinking quickly, G'raha Tia invokes a levitation spell and sees everyone to safety.

*Back at the outpost, Thancred informs you that the prisoners are being transported to the city, where they will receive treatment for tempering. As you gaze out at the water, the menacing tower nowhere to be seen, you allow yourself a moment to savor this small victory before steeling yourself for the next battle.

Dialogue
Optional dialogue
Thancred: I returned by way of Kytte's experimental aetheryte, yet I must say, it was far less taxing than our first attempt. And apparently, we need only ask if we wish to use it again.
Thancred: Now, I'm not terribly eager to repeat the experience... But if you're willing to test your aetherial fortitude for the sake of technological advancement, then who am I to stop you?

Estinien: The conflict between Nidhogg and I is in the past, and though they were brothers, it has no bearing on my view of Vrtra.
Estinien: Above all else, he is a leader of men, not an enemy. He would hardly dedicate his life to this endeavor if he bore our kind any ill will.

Urianger: Vrtra and his alchemists have prepared us for our foray into the tower. What we may accomplish within its twisted halls remaineth to be seen.
Urianger: That Arkasodara languish in Telophoroi chains doth forewarn us of the nature of our foe ─ 'tis the gods of Thavnair who will be summoned to thwart us.

Alisaie: Don't think for a moment that I'm jealous of Alphinaud's new weapons. They're far more suited to him than me.
Alisaie: We left for Eorzea in matching outfits, but our styles ─ both fashion and fighting ─ have long since diverged. If anything, I'm proud of the differences between us.

Alphinaud: If I intend to master these sage's armaments, that will mean learning to imbue them with the same aether that I poured into Moonstone and Obsidian.
Alphinaud: 'Tis difficult to grasp the essence of such an entity... For me, it will help to think of the nouliths as allies in battle ─ simply a new form of the energy which went into manifesting my Carbuncle companions.

Y'shtola: For us to feel responsible for the schism of House Leveilleur would be pure hubris. After all, we are merely on the outskirts of what is, essentially, a family affair.
Y'shtola: And yet neither can we claim the indifference of strangers. To hear their mother welcome them so warmly was a joy...and a relief.

G'raha Tia: As curious as I am to learn the truth of this “duty,” I wonder what else the Forum is hiding. A calamitous secret whose origin lies in the aetherial sea...
G'raha Tia: Duplicity aside, however, I do not believe Master Fourchenault means us ill. Even the harsh words he had for his children stemmed not from anger, I think, but desperation.

Accepting the quest
Krile: Since there has been progress in both investigations, shall we share the findings from our respective locales?

Krile: Your time in Thavnair has certainly been eventful.
Krile: In my opinion, carrying out Vrtra's request and assaulting the Tower of Zot should be our highest priority.
Y'shtola: I agree. While I still have questions concerning the Forum and their grand undertaking, we have all but exhausted our avenues of investigation.
Y'shtola: Simply pressing them any harder on the subject will almost certainly result in our expulsion. Therefore I suggest we explore the aetherial sea connection by way of a letter to Master Matoya, then make our way to Thavnair.
Alphinaud: I wonder... Even with the protection these talismans afford us, what can we hope to achieve once inside the tower?
Alphinaud: According to Arenvald and Fordola's report, they were unable to free the Amalj'aa. Worse, their attempts triggered the tower's defenses, which led to a summoning of Lunar Ifrit.
Y'shtola: What does it tell us that the spires even have such defenses?
Y'shtola: Simply pulling a prisoner from the wall is fatal, thus the direct approach is doomed to failure from the outset. Any further measures to dissuade such actions seem...unnecessary.
Y'shtola: Unless, of course, there is a way to free the prisoners without killing them. Then it stands to reason that any intruders would be met with overwhelming force.
Urianger: The towers appeared throughout the world in but the twinkling of an eye. 'Twas by magical means these structures were raised, I surmise.
Urianger: A spire thus conjured must needs be maintained, and I suspect an arcane catalyst ─ some manner of “core” ─ doth lie hidden within.
Urianger: Destroy the core, and the tower ceaseth to be...thus liberating the captives without harm!
Y'shtola: So we can hope. And I would prefer to enter the tower with a working theory than with no plan at all.
Thancred: Assuming Y'shtola's reasoning is correct, the chances of the defenses remaining dormant are small to none.
Thancred: Any primals will have to be dealt with, and defeating one will likely only lead to the summoning of another. Our every victory will only compound the prisoners' suffering.
G'raha Tia: May we not then divide our forces?
G'raha Tia: Those proficient in healing will focus on sustaining the captives. That duty can be covered by Urianger, Krile, Y'shtola, and myself.
G'raha Tia: The remaining Scions will proceed with the search for the core. Admittedly, this strategy puts both parties at greater risk, but it should bolster our chances of saving the Arkasodara by a considerable margin.

What will you say?
> Are you sure Alphinaud is in the right group?
G'raha Tia: If you're to fight primals, then you'd best have at least one healer with you.
Alphinaud: And I am more than happy to fulfill that role. I've found wielding a sage's armaments to be rather intuitive, and look forward to testing them against a more challenging foe.

> What of Alisaie? She knows a healing spell or two.
G'raha Tia: That she does, but I think Alisaie herself would assert that she's at her best when she's charging unto the breach.
G'raha Tia: And from what I recall from the Grand Cosmos, there's a spring in her step when she fights by your side.
Alisaie: Ye gods, will you never let me hear the end of that? Rest assured that I will do what is asked of me regardless of who I happen to be standing next to at any given time!

(If playing a healer class)
> Aren't you forgetting someone!?
G'raha Tia: Of course not! As our most talented healer, we need you leading the van, fighting primals on the front lines.

Krile: It seems we have a plan; all that remains is to carry it out. I will inform Radz-at-Han of our movements, so let us make our preparations and regroup near the tower.
Thancred: The military post in what's left of the Hamsa Hatchery should serve as a convenient staging point.
Krile: That sounds perfect! And remember: the experimental aetheryte at the Confluence is there for those who need it, so there's no excuse for being late!

Optional dialogue - at the Hamsa Hatchery.
Imhudi: We're told folk are imprisoned in the tower. For now, our orders are to watch it, and I don't intend to bat an eyelid, but it chafes that we can't do more...

Khuteeyu: If we're to protect our people effectively, it would be best to have everyone in one place, namely within the city. Alas, it isn't so simple.
Khuteeyu: Every settlement plays an important role in the running of our nation. They can't simply be abandoned, even if it means our numbers are spread thin.

Speak with Nahbdeen at the Hamsa Hatchery.
Nahbdeen: Ah, our friend of Eorzea, we've been expecting you! You and yours will lead the mission into the tower, I'm told.
Nahbdeen: The warding scales will be delivered soon. Till then, please stand by at the boat we have readied.
Nahbdeen: When your fellows arrive, I will direct them to join you. We pray for your safety and success!

Optional dialogue
Nahbdeen: If the satrap trusts you and yours to lead the mission, then you must be formidable warriors indeed.
Nahbdeen: Glad are we to count you as allies!

Standby at the boat. (Cutscene)
Alisaie: Unnngh... If this is the future of aetheryte travel, I think I'll stick to boats...
Alphinaud: Aye... No warning, however emphatic, could have prepared me for that...
G'raha Tia: On account of which we are a little late, but fighting fit! Mostly.
Varshahn: My friends, permit me to thank you for accepting this mission.
Krile: You must be...hm... We should still call you Varshahn, I suppose?
Varshahn: Indeed. It would not do to confuse our soldiers.
Krile: Very well, then.
Krile: For our part, we are humbled that you should see fit to entrust us with your warding scales. Please convey as much to His Excellency.
Varshahn: One for each of you. Please accept them with my blessings.
Thancred: Our thanks. With these, we can go anywhere those with the blessing of Light can go.
Thancred: Not only for this operation either, but all the ones to come. We can finally break your monopoly on primals.

What will you say?
> I've been waiting for this day!
Thancred: So have we, my friend. So have we.
> I wouldn't mind carrying on as before, you know.
Thancred: Hah, spoken like our champion. Rest assured we'll ever have need of you, though we will do what we can to lighten your burden.
> In that case, they're all yours from now on.
Thancred: Ah, but I'm afraid we can't let you retire just yet. You're the Scions' brightest star, after all.

Y'shtola: If everyone is amenable to it, let us review the strategy for good measure.
Y'shtola: As previously agreed, we will divide into two groups.
Y'shtola: [Forename] and his/her band will break through the tower's defenses and locate its core.
Y'shtola: Meanwhile, the rest of us will tend to the prisoners, who will doubtless want for healing due to the duress of repeated summonings.
Urianger: The primals which the tower bringeth forth shall be deities of Thavnairian myth.
Urianger: As we have no prior experience with such foes, pray exercise the utmost caution when confronting them.
Alphinaud: We commence the operation at your word, my friend.
Alphinaud: For the people of Thavnair ─ nay, the entire world ─ we must prevail!

<blockquote>The Tower of Zot now accessible.</blockquote>

Optional dialogue
Krile: This is the closest I've ever been to one of the towers. Such a sinister aura it exudes...
Krile: It's been a while since last I took to the field, and I can't help but feel nervous. But with everyone at my side, I'm sure all will be well!

G'raha Tia: Though our parties are separate, I will trust in you ─ as I know you will trust in me.
G'raha Tia: Let us both give it our all, and add another rousing chapter to the saga!

Urianger: Aside from primals, within the tower we shall for a certainty encounter enthralled imperial soldiers.
Urianger: Defenders conveyed hither by means unknown, who will stop at nothing to hinder our efforts...

Y'shtola: Lest you worry, I've not forgotten my healing spells.
Y'shtola: Be it restoration or destruction, this sorceress can command whatever magicks the situation requires.

Thancred: With Y'shtola keeping them company, the other party will be able to hold their own against the enemy if needs be.
Thancred: So we can tackle our own task without worrying over them. Come, let us be about it!

Alphinaud: I may have taken up new arms, but my role is unchanged. I am a healer, through and through.
Alphinaud: Yet in knowing who once wore this sage's mantle, I wonder... When all is said and done, will I look back on the battles I chose to fight with pride?

Alisaie: My warding scale is safely tucked away. I'm ready when you are, [Forename].
Alisaie: I may not be the Azure Dragoon, former or otherwise, but I guarantee that I'll give as good as I get!

Estinien: First this armor, blessed with Ratatoskr's power, and now Vrtra's scale... Much has changed for dragons to show me such favor.
Estinien: And with Nidhogg with me, in spirit and in hand, no obstacle will bar our way.

After the Tower of Zot.
| Voiced cutscene |
Krile: Is everyone all right!?
G'raha Tia: We fortified the captives with what magicks we could. Have the defenses been disabled? All appears quiet for the moment...
Krile: The lower floors were disturbing enough, but this place feels...wrong. The aether is heavy and thick. Like wading through a quagmire...
Urianger: I believe we stand in the tower's beating heart. What sayest thou, Y'shtola...?
Y'shtola: I see it. Aether siphoned from the land runs up through the spire, flowing to a single point...
Y'shtola: This is the core we seek.
Y'shtola: Yet something is...off. As large as this structure is, it siphons far more aether than is required to sustain it.
Y'shtola: 'Tis as if the core is feeding on the energy. Consuming it. I need to take a closer look...

Y'shtola: ...Curious. There is something there, embedded inside the core.
Y'shtola: A man's limb...
Estinien: This is what we came to destroy?
Y'shtola: Yes. If you would be so kind?
Alphinaud: And that should be the end of it!
The tower rumbles beneath their feet.
Alisaie: Ugh, what now!?
Urianger: My theory that the tower might come crashing down following the core's destruction doth appear to be correct.
Alisaie: Bully for you! And how are we supposed to survive the fall!?
G'raha Tia: What of the prisoners below...!
Y'shtola: The floor beneath our very feet dissolves. Brace yourselves!
G'raha Tia: I pray I'm not too late!

Alisaie: What happened? Where are we?
Alphinaud: By my reckoning, we're still on the island where the tower stood but...'tis as if it never existed.
Alphinaud: Hardly a scratch. But how...?
Krile: G'raha wove a levitation spell at the last moment. Large enough to catch everyone, it would seem.
Thancred: That explains the lack of obvious injuries.
Krile: The expenditure of so much aether has taken its toll. He will need plenty of rest, but should otherwise be none the worse for wear.
Thancred: Then the immediate problem is what to do with our new friends here.
Thancred: They'll be much changed for their time in the tower. Even if their bodies are intact, I doubt we could say the same for their minds.
Alisaie: Angelo and I will take care of that.
Thancred: I have every faith in you, Alisaie, but there are just too many for you to treat alone.
Y'shtola: We'll send at once to Eorzea for more porxies, and call on the local mages to lend a hand.
Varshahn: Hail, Scions!
Varshahn: We were watching the tower, when it simply...disappeared. What happened here?
Urianger: The threat is banished, and thy people delivered. They are, however, in need of treatment, and we of a secure locale and helping hands to assist us in its provision.
Varshahn: You shall have all this and more. Come, let us convey these unfortunate souls to the city.
| Voiced cutscene end. |

Optional dialogue
Imhudi: The tower's gone, and we owe it to you and the alchemists.
Imhudi: I didn't realize how tense I had been until Narunnair returned to normal, and I felt drowsy for the relief.

Khuteeyu: I understand you and yours dealt with the tower. You've rid us of a great menace, and I don't know how to thank you.
Khuteeyu: But as grateful as I am, I regret that we couldn't take care of it ourselves. This is our home, after all, and it falls to us to defend it. We must endeavor to do better.

Nahbdeen: Ah, you are returned! As suddenly as the tower disappeared, we were gravely concerned for you and yours.
Nahbdeen: I am glad to see that all is well. On behalf of the people of Radz-at-Han, I give you my heartfelt thanks.

Thancred: The liberated prisoners are being transported to Radz-at-Han for treatment.
Thancred: Alisaie and Y'shtola will oversee the administration of the tempering treatment, with support from those who know a healing spell or two.
Thancred: We'll go and join them in the city once you've had a moment to catch your breath.

Steps
*Speak with Alphinaud.
*Speak with Theyler.
*Speak with the Crystal Exarch.
*Speak with the manager of suites in the Pendants.

Journal
* Urianger presumably has some idea as to what you might usefully do while Y'shtola pursues her investigations in Anamnesis Anyder.

*You trouble Urianger for his thoughts on how you and your fellow Scions should occupy yourselves in Y'shtola's absence. After expressing confidence that her efforts will eventually bear fruit, he concludes the best course of action for the rest of you would be to wait─which, Alphinaud points out, means that you now have the opportunity to look in on the Exarch and ascertain how his efforts to perfect the spirit vessel are coming along.

* You find the Exarch not in his tower, but at the Exedra, surrounded by a crowd of overexcited citizens. It seems the words of “Ardbert” have had the intended effect, kindling such heroic zeal in the people that they are ready to leave their homes without thought to the consequences. As if to compound matters, the sky suddenly turns dark, heralding the arrival of a shower of stars─a spectacle which awakens the crowd to a voice you know very well indeed. With perfect timing, Elidibus appears, proclaiming to those who hear it that they, too, are Warriors of Light, before departing as abruptly as he came. You catch up with him a short distance away, and though he offers no clarity on the subject of his motives, he does confirm that the meteors were an illusion of his own making. With an ominous promise to save the world, he vanishes─leaving you to ponder what all of this implies about Hydaelyn's own role in the creation of Warriors of Light...including you.

* As the dust settles, you are approached by the Crystal Exarch. He informs you that two guardsmen with whom you are acquainted─the irrepressible Theyler and Vonard─have chosen to embark on a journey to become heroes in their own right, and asks that you offer them a few words of advice ere they depart.

* You find Theyler and Vonard at the Amaro Launch, where they stand at the threshold of adventure, and impart a few pearls of wisdom gathered in the course of your own travels. They listen earnestly, and as you watch them set off into the unknown, it is easy to believe that the people of the First will find their path─even after you have gone.

* Back at the Crystal Tower, having regaled the Exarch with the intrigues of your journey to Anamnesis, thoughts turn to the future. Rather than stake everything on the success of Y'shtola's investigations, Thancred proposes he use his ample experience in subterfuge to keep watch over Elidibus, and all readily agree. Urianger, meanwhile, will assist in ongoing research at the Umbilicus─for confident though Beq Lugg and the Exarch are of developing a means to transfer memory into spirit vessels, a great deal of experimentation yet remains. Needful tasks thus assigned, the Exarch suggests you take the opportunity to rest─a statement rife with irony, perhaps, given its source, but one not lacking in wisdom.

* You retire to your suite in the Pendants, but are awoken in the evening by an unexpected tapping at your chamber door. It is Glynard, accompanied by a familiar figure come to offer words of encouragement─and why not? Be it by Cardinal Virtue or shrouded Ascian, the twisting of good men to vile ends is not to be borne.

Dialogue
Urianger: Can we but uncover Elidibus's true origins, we may yet come to understand his designs. To that end, Y'shtola must needs be afforded as much time as she doth require to complete her investigation.
Urianger: ...To the extent that such things are within our control, yes. Speaking of which, perhaps we might trouble the Exarch for news of his progress with the spirit vessel?
Urianger: He will no doubt wish to hear of our own discoveries as well, such as they are.

Cutscene dialogue
Alphinaud: Dare I ask what's going on?
Crystal Exarch: Ah, excellent timing. For me, in any case. We have a problem.
Crystal Exarch: The vast majority of those gathered here are presently in the employ of the guard or else one of the facets...and no longer wish to be so.
Crystal Exarch: In principle, all are free to change vocation at any time─but a city does require a certain number of people in these positions if it is to continue to function. For the moment, I have asked them to postpone their resignation until such time as replacements can be found.
Crystal Exarch: As you may have surmised, we have the “Warrior of Light” to thank for this...<br>
Vonard: It's you! The Warrior of Darkness!
Vonard: You understand, don't you?
Vonard: Someone's going to have to look after this place once you're gone. We just want to be ready to do our bit when the time comes.
Theyler: And not only here, but everywhere! Which is why we've got to get out there, and lend a hand to those in need.
Theyler: That's what you did, isn't it? Even if it was just little things, at the start. You helped people. <br>
What will you say?
> People, chocobos, you name it.
> Well, yes...
> ...<br>
Theyler: And we're trying to do the same! We may have our sky back, but there's no shortage of people who still need help.
Theyler: If we follow in your footsteps, then I choose to believe we too can be heroes one day. Even Warriors of Light. <br>
Alphinaud: What are we to say to that? We can hardly tell them they are mistaken.
Alphinaud: They seek but to do good, as you have.
Urianger: But no more can we stand idly by and suffer a Paragon's scheme to proceed unchallenged.

Fearful Citizen: What...what's happening to the sky?
Wicked white!
Oh no!

Alphinaud: By the Twelve...
Urianger: A starshower...
Theyler: I─ I hear a voice!
Vonard: You and all? Then why does it feel like it's inside my head!?
Vonard: Hear... Feel... Think...?
I hear it!
Me too!

???: Did I not tell you, my friends!? You are Warriors of Light!
Theyler: You're back!
Elidibus: What you hear is the voice of Light itself, and it has blessed you with its power. Welcome to the fold!
Theyler: I'm a Warrior of Light...
Vonard: I've been chosen!?
Me, a hero?

Alphinaud: Wait!
Alphinaud: The falling stars ─ were they your doing? And why do you need Warriors of Light?
Elidibus: What, am I to reveal my plans simply because you asked?
Elidibus: Nay, I think not─though the stars I acknowledge mine. A convenient illusion apt to awaken what little is left of the power that once resided in your sundered souls.
Elidibus: That which you and yours call the Echo.
Elidibus: And an echo it is. Of a symphony. But a fraction of what men, in their completeness, once possessed.
Elidibus: Even those among you who tower over others in the gift have only the faintest trace of it.
Elidibus: But though sundered and forgotten, through death and mocking rebirth, it has persisted. A whisper of our past, burned into your very aether ─ along with the sight of our end.
Elidibus: Through the rekindling of memory, I have awoken the ability ─ just as Hydaelyn is wont to do when She has need of new minions.
Urianger: The Echo hath ever been thought a gift from Hydaelyn ─ a boon granted solely to Her chosen. Yet thou wouldst claim She merely awakeneth the power, that men should hearken unto...?
Urianger: ...Her voice. Given the perceived simultaneity of Her call and the awakening of Her chosen's capacity to hear it, 'tis only natural that we thus attributed the source of the gift. Yet if, in truth, the Echo is a prerequisite for hearing Her voice...
Urianger: One might surmise that Her call never ceaseth, such that all who awaken to their innate gift might receive of the blessing of Light at the selfsame instant.
Urianger: In sooth, we bore witness to this but moments ago. At the sight of the starshower, full many in the crowd did speak of hearing a voice in their minds, did they not?
Elidibus: Just so. And whenever Hydaelyn has need of new servants, She is quick to pluck comets from the heavens, or create illusions of the same.
Urianger: Why, then, didst thou conjure this vision, full knowing that thine age-old foe would thus claim those awakened to the gift?
Elidibus: “Foe”? You must be mistaken. As you see, I am a Warrior of Light.
Elidibus: And together with my comrades-in-arms, I shall save the world. Just like you.

Optional Dialogue
Ryne: It did remind me of it... Amaurot, I mean. All the fear, and the sadness...

Thancred: Unsettling though this is, I'm certain our friends in the guard will use the Echo well.
...Or with good intentions, at least.

Urianger: Though I like not what it portendeth, having been treated to so unambiguous a demonstration, I cannot well conclude aught but that starshowers are indeed instrumental in awakening the Echo.
Urianger: Yet we need not attribute such credence to all that Elidibus hath claimed. That he too seeketh this star's salvation, for one...

Alisaie: And there he goes again... Though I don't suppose he would have given us an honest answer about his history had he stayed.

Speak with Alphinaud.
Alphinaud: The more Elidibus reveals, the less I understand. But that he has made a fine mess of things is plain.

Crystal Exarch: He is gone, then?
Crystal Exarch: I've managed to persuade a number of our would-be deserters to reconsider, or at least delay, their departure. But as many are deaf to my entreaties.
Crystal Exarch: Young Theyler and Vonard among them, I am sorry to say. They have quit the guard.
Crystal Exarch: Nevertheless, I wish them well. Whatever Elidibus's plans for them might be, the pair have only ever had the best of intentions.
Thancred: One can hardly blame them for thinking themselves heroes elect ─ not after having been “blessed” with the Echo. And it's not as if they haven't shown the requisite spirit.
Crystal Exarch: I quite agree. Though the impetus for their sudden departure may have been words falsely spoken, the men and women in whose footsteps they would follow are heroes in truth. Warriors of Light. Ardbert. Yourself, most of all.
Crystal Exarch: And so I would ask a favor of you─speak with them ere they embark on their journey, and furnish them with what wisdom you can. They've set off for the Amaro Launch, but you should still be able to catch them if you leave now.
Thancred: Worth the effort, I'd say. If I recall correctly, the Elder Seedseer took the time to usher you out into the wider world, many moons ago.
Alphinaud: I...think that comparison rather flatters Theyler and Vonard. But the point still stands. They would doubtless be greatly encouraged were the Warrior of Darkness himself to see them off.
Urianger: If thou art willing, I prithee go. Thou mayest safely leave the task of unfolding that which did transpire at Anamnesis to us.

Optional Dialogue, in the Ocular
Urianger: In days to come, when Elidibus's machinations have all come to naught, the First shall be stronger for its people's readiness to rise to the challenges of their time. We have but to defeat our foe to make it so.

Beq Lugg: I was so deeply immersed in my research that I entirely failed to notice the starshower... Bugger.

Crystal Exarch: You will need to leave now if you are to catch them before they depart. They are...eager to be on their way.

Alisaie: Honestly, don't listen to all this prattle about the life-changing importance of your words to impressionable young heroes. You could nod mutely in their general direction and they'd still be inspired.

Alphinaud: I daresay I needn't wax poetical on the value of well-placed words of encouragement to you of all people. I have gained that much self-awareness in our time together...

Ryne: “This land is our home...and it is we who must protect it...” Even if he didn't believe a word he was saying, and it's all part of some terrible scheme, it's hard not to take his message to heart.

(Thancred dialog is different here depending which city-state the WoL started in...)

(If WoL was birthed in Gridania, and thus completed main)
Thancred: You caused quite a stir when you set forth as the Elder Seedseer's newly anointed envoy, you know.
Thancred: Minfilia was delighted. “The world is ever in need of heroes,” she said...

(If WoL was birthed in Limsa Lominsa, and thus completed main)
???

(If WoL was birthed in Ul'dah, and thus completed main)
???

Speak with Theyler.
Optional dialogue
Vonard: ...“Where in Amh Araeng”? I mean... You know... Around.

Theyler: You again!? Uh, I mean─it's you, sir! Sorry...it's been a funny old day.

Theyler: You can be sure we'll take those words to heart.
Vonard: I still can't believe it ─ you coming all this way just to speak to us.
Vonard: I swear we won't let you down. So long as it helps someone, we'll do what needs doing out there─no matter how small!
Theyler: And when larger threats loom, we'll be ready to face them. You see if we aren't.<br>
What will you say?
> The path shall ever be revealed to those who are true of heart.
>...Well, what are you waiting for? Get out there!<br>
Theyler: We'll be off, then. Farewell, Warrior of Darkness ─ and thank you.

Optional Dialogue, in The Ocular (some of the dialog is different from before speaking to Theyler)
Urianger: Thou art returned! And at a most opportune time. We have but this moment concluded our account of all that came to pass in the deep.

Alisaie: Honestly, don't listen to all this prattle about the life-changing importance of your words to impressionable young heroes. You could nod mutely in their general direction and they'd still be inspired.

Alphinaud: I take it they were suitably inspired?

Speak with Crystal Exarch.
Crystal Exarch: Thank you for making the effort. I'm certain your words will be a boon to them.
Crystal Exarch: While you were away, the others told me of your investigation. We have yet to discuss how to proceed, however.

Crystal Exarch: While your findings in Anamnesis Anyder do raise important questions as to the identity of our adversary, we are no closer to discerning his design. Nor do I know of any other potential avenue of investigation.
Urianger: For which reason, we must needs trust to Y'shtola's ingenuity, and wait for her efforts to revive the ancients' device to bear fruit.
Thancred: ...What if I were to attempt to follow the emissary? Elusive as he is, his plan compels him to court public attention. He shouldn't be impossible to find.
Alphinaud: Especially for one of your experience. It does seem worth the attempt.
Ryne: Then I'll come with you. Safety in numbers.
Thancred: In combat, perhaps ─ but where stealth is required, the opposite is true. Happily, I don't plan on getting myself caught, so you've no need to worry.
Thancred: Nor do I intend to vanish for moons on end. We still have the Empty to attend to, don't we?
Ryne: All right. Then I look forward to your return.

Alisaie: Then it sounds like the rest of us should avoid doing anything which might prompt Elidibus to look too closely at our movements. Insofar as it's possible, I recommend we limit our activities to the Crystarium.
Alphinaud: Speaking of which ─ Exarch, might I ask if you've made any progress with the spirit vessel?
Crystal Exarch: Of course. We are presently studying the principles underpinning memory transference and, I believe, nearing the requisite level of understanding.
Crystal Exarch: Less hearteningly, practical trials of transference methods suited for use with the vessel have yet to yield satisfactory results...to put it mildly.
Beq Lugg: But there are still many promising possibilities we have yet to test!
Crystal Exarch: Indeed. Though it may take some time yet, we are well on our way to a solution.
Crystal Exarch: And I shall not rest until one is found.
Urianger: Though we are all grateful for thine unstinting efforts, thou need'st not labor to the exclusion of all else. If it would serve to lighten thy burden, however little, I should gladly offer mine assistance.
Alphinaud: Quite. I, for my part, will do what I can to ensure that the Crystarium continues to run smoothly, in spite of recent disruptions.
Ryne: Then perhaps I could help? There must be something I can do, even if it's just guard duty.
Crystal Exarch: Thank you... All of you. I shall breathe easier for your assistance.
Crystal Exarch: Of course, on the evidence of the recent past, it will not be long before some new crisis arrives to throw our plans into disarray ─ at which time your services will be in particular demand. That being the case, perhaps you might take this opportunity to retire to your suite at the Pendants?

Optional dialogue
Crystal Exarch: One of these methods will work. It must.
Crystal Exarch: ...Of course I don't wish to worry Lyna─she has more than enough to worry about already. But I swore that I would return you all home.
Crystal Exarch: All right! Fine. I will henceforth endeavor to take breaks when appropriate.
...While Lyna is watching.

Beq Lugg: Never fear ─ I too will continue to assist the Exarch to the best of my ability. And if that means casting the odd sleeping charm, so be it.

Urianger: Knowing not whether Elidibus or our ever-waning connection to the Source representeth the more pressing problem, we must needs attend to both...and risk solving neither.

Thancred: There is sure to be no shortage of potential heroes upon whose good nature Elidibus will try to prevail. The trick will be in anticipating which settlement he'll direct his attentions toward next...

Ryne: There's so much to be done, and so little I can do to help... But you can count on me to play my part in the Empty.

Alphinaud: Ought we to inform the citizens that the starshower was an illusion, do you think? They might sleep better for the knowledge that no damage was done.

Alisaie: I will accompany my brother, and make sure he doesn't get carried away. You will do as you're told, and get some rest ─ both of you.
(Alisaie glancing over and referring to Crystal Exarch)
Alisaie: Honestly, he's a danger to himself. If I were Lyna, I think I would've hit him over the head with a blunt object by now. At least then he'd lie down.

Speak with the manager of suites in the Pendants.
Manager of Suites: A pleasure as always, Master [Surname].
Manager of Suites: I am relieved to see you were unharmed in the earlier commotion. Though, if I may ─ you do look somewhat weary. I presume you will be retiring to your suite?
Manager of Suites: Very good. Do let me know if there is anything you require.

Cutscene dialogue
Glynard: Master [Surname]? It's Glynard ─ from the Wandering Stairs. I apologize for calling so late.
Glynard: A friend of yours was asking after you. You may remember them from that business with the Cardinal Virtues...

(Who appears here depends on which Shadowbringers Role Quest have been completed.)
(If WoL has completed two or more (or all of them), a dialog choice menu will appear, "What will you say?")

< What will you say?>
< Granson >
< Giott. >
< Lue-Reeq. >
< Taynor. >

< Granson >
Granson: Well met, sinner.
Granson: I was looking forward to a welcome respite here in the Crystarium, but the mood here's not exactly conducive to relaxation, as I'm sure you've noticed.
Granson: Aye, I'd wager you know more about what's going on than anyone else in this city. Care to share?
Granson: Hmmm... I can't say that I envy you your prey.
Granson: Dark work, this twisting of the Warriors of Light's legacy. Reminds me of what became of ol' Dikaiosyne─though this “Ascian” of yours is a fair bit more chatty.
Granson: I'm tempted to silence him myself. Branden made his mistakes─I'm sure they all did─but the past is the past. They've earned their rest.
< What will you say?>
< I'm not about to let him sully Ardbert's good name. >
< I will see that they have their peace. >
Granson: What, you want me to leave it to you?
Granson: ...Right, right. I'm not the only one carrying all that weight. Very well. But only because you asked.
Granson: Remember: if you ever need me, just say the word. I'll be there.

< Giott. >
Giott: Lali-ho, strangers!
Giott: So there I am—minding my own business, quaffing my ale—when I hear a ruckus outside. And then, clear as day: "Warrior of Light"!
Giott: That sounded like trouble to me, and I knew that if anyone was going to trouble himself/herself over that trouble, it'd be you. So I gave Glynard the ol' "But I'm your best customer!" routine until he agree to bring me here, and now I know where you live! Great, ain't it?
Giott: Some bastard's walking around wearing Ardbert—Lamitt's Ardbert—like a secondhand jerkin!?
Giott: I don't know what's more offensive—that, or that you let him leave without a proper dwarven decking!
< What will you say?>
< He did vanish into thin air. >
< A certain hobson refused to teach me... >
Giott: Bah! In a pinch, an improvised decking would've been fine!
Giott: Tell you what. I'll show you how to know that bastard flat in the blink of an eye here and now. Taboos be damned.
Giott: After all, we ain't about to let him keep on like that, are we? Pretending to be Ardbert. Lamitt's Ardbert.
Giott: Step one: make a fist. Step two: extend your arm, like so. Step three: beat 'em senseless. Got it?
Giott: Good. Now make me proud!

< Lue-Reeq. >
Lue-Reeq: What charming accomodations!
Lue-Reeq: I had come to dine at the Wandering Stairs, you see, when I spied a considerable gathering of locals. Then the sky caught fire, and, well...
Lue-Reeq: You must know what it all means. Anything you'd care to share with a friend?
Lue-Reeq: That is...alarming, to say the least.
Lue-Reeq: It's all well and good that others have come to appreciate the Warriors of Light, but we cannot allow this charlatan to exploit their legacy. So...
Lue-Reeq: Yes! Why not? We shall reform the indomitable duo that is Reeq and Yams, and put an end to his shenanigans!<br>
What will you say?
> That's very kind of you.
> Eager as ever, I see.<br>
Lue-Reeq: Yes, I know. No need to say it. You've no intention of involving me. I'm stupid, but I'm not naive.
Lue-Reeq: You're the better hunter, and the better person besides. I'm reminded of Renda-Rae...though that's hardly a surprise, is it?
Lue-Reeq: For her sake─for all of theirs─show this pretender what it truly means to be a hero!

< Taynor. >
???

Meanwhile, in the Crystal Tower Umbilicus...
Crystal Exarch: Foiled again...
Crystal Exarch: If I cannot imbue the infernal thing with my power via magical means, we may need to devise a way to infuse the vessel with my blood after all...
Urianger: Art thou unwell?
Beq Lugg: Perhaps a brief respite? It wouldn't do to overtax yourself.
Crystal Exarch: I'm fine...
Crystal Exarch: And given to stubbornness, I'm afraid. Especially when I have a stake in the outcome.

Meanwhile, in the Source...
Zenos yae Galvus: That dream again...
White-robed Figure: A recurring dream? They do so fascinate me. Might I trouble you for the details?
Zenos yae Galvus: I have always dreamed of it... Fire falling from the heavens, and the city─nay, the whole world ablaze.
White-robed Figure: Indeed... Could Emet-Selch have found a way...? Precious few possess memories of the Final Days.
Zenos yae Galvus: The Final Days?
White-robed Figure: Why yes. Admittedly, my knowledge is mostly secondhand, but if you are interested, I will gladly tell you the tale...
White-robed Figure: The tale of the world's end.
