Journal
* Chaqurl Qhotl's eyes eagerly dart about the caves of Hopl's Stopple.
** ※The difficulty of this quest will be synced to your current level.

* Thanks in no small part to your aid in gathering resources for the excavation effort, Qitarl Natl and his Stewards are at last prepared to delve deeper into the tunnels of Hopl's Stopple. Alas, there is one small complication: the presence of an arcane ward preventing access to the inner chambers that is passable only by servants of Ox'Dalan, protector of the underworld. As all present ponder a suitable course of action, the Great Serpent of Ronka lets forth a great scree, no doubt seeking to impart wisdom to your band. Sadly, no one present is able to comprehend the meaning of the divine protector's words, leaving you no choice but to accompany Chaqurl Qhotl to Slitherbough to seek the aid of the one man who can.
** ※Please note that the difficulty of this quest has been synced to your current level. Furthermore, you may not proceed with a class or job that is different from when you accepted this quest.

* You find Quinfort, who does not hesitate to interpret the words of the great serpent in his typically grandiose, pontificating, and highly dubious fashion. Valan gives cursory consideration to the Keeper of Whispers's wisdom before offering up a more practical solution to the problem at hand: to construct a talisman enchanted with the incantations that keep Slitherbough safe from the selfsame beasts that would make the Qitari explorers their next meal.

* You deliver the requested supplies to Valan, who deftly fashions a talisman according to Quinfort's instructions. Now able to probe the depths of Hopl's Stopple without fear of being devoured by creatures of the darkness, the Stewards' excavation team begins their dig, but will they succeed in finding the stone tablets they seek? Chaqurl Qhotl can scarce contain his anticipation to learn what secrets might be unearthed.

* The Qitari rejoice as their excavation effort succeeds in exhuming the first Qitari stela: one of many great stone tablets on which is writ the sum total of the knowledge and history of their ancient race. The stone, however, has been weathered over the ages, obscuring key passages necessary to comprehend the writings in full. At the exhortation of the great serpent, the Qitari resolve to restore the tablets to the best of their ability. However, the missing text leaves many passages open for interpretation, and Qitarl Natl and his son Chaqurl Qhotl have differing views about the intended message. Seeking the wisdom of an impartial arbitrator, they turn to you...

Dialogue
Optional
Qitarl Natl: I am pleased to report that we have begun a preliminary investigation of the first level of the tunnels below. I am optimistic that we shall find signs of the first stela before long.

Qitari Serpent: Scree! Scree! <br>
System: The serpent lets out a high-pitched cry. It would appear that it is encouraging the Qitari excavators to delve deeper.

Accepting the quest (Cutscene)
Chaqurl Qhotl: Good ! It was , wasn't it? Mother tells me you've been working your tail off around the Stopple! Is that why I can't see your tail, perhaps?
Chaqurl Qhotl: Anyhow! Thanks to you, Father says that we're ready to begin the ex-vacation! Isn't this all so exciting?

Qitarl Natl: Chaqurl. We must remember to remain calm and composed. These caves are vast, their tunnels burrowing deep into the bowels of the land. Slow, steady, and circumspect is the order of the day.
Qitarl Natl: As we speak, a preliminary exploration team is surveying the tunnels to determine where we might best begin the excavation. We will await their findings before deciding on the best way to move forward.

Chaqurl Qhotl: Understood, Father! I promise to be sir-sumspect. Does that mean we can begin digging already?

Qitarl Natl: Towarl Manol! What news from the depths?

Towarl Manol: Digmaster Qitarl. I fear we encountered something rather...unexpected. I fear that we may not be able to commence the excavation effort as quickly as we had hoped...

Chaqurl Qhotl: We can't start digging? But why? What did you find down there?

Towarl Manol: No sooner had we stepped through the entrance, our whiskers twitching in anticipation of the wonders that awaited, than did we see them—nasty creatures swarming in every nook and cranny of the caves!

Qitarl Natl: ...A most troubling development indeed. We Qitari are scribes, not warriors. Indeed, it was the presence of fearsome fiends—and worse—blocking our way through the Ravel that kept us trapped for a hundred years. Are we doomed to suffer a similar fate here?

< What will you say? >
< I did defeat the Lightwarden, you know. >
< I can do more than just gather things. >

(Both)
Qitarl Natl: The ally of Ronka and bringer of the night would fell these terrible beasts for us? I would like little more than to take advantage of your kindness, but...I fear there is a rub.

Chaqurl Qhotl: A rub?

Qitarl Natl: ...A rub. In our preliminary explorations of the Stopple, we have discovered that another ward seals off the tunnels below. A ward not unlike the one that barred the entrance, but with one notable—and unfortunate—difference.
Qitarl Natl: It is a ward impassable to all but the servants of Dalan—namely, the Qitari. No, I fear we will have to find our own way to dispatch the beasts that have burrowed their way up from the depths...

Chaqurl Qhotl: But without Sirmadam [Forename]'s aid, we'll be chewed up the moment we step in there—tails and whiskers and all!

Qitari Serpent: Scree!

Chaqurl Qhotl: The great serpent...it speaks!

Qitarl Natl: Indeed...and yet, it does not move. Till now, we have had only to follow where it goes. This time, it appears we must fully grasp the import of his message. A message which, sadly, is beyond my comprehension. If only there were someone who—but, of course! The son of Dwatl!

Chaqurl Qhotl: The son of... You mean, that tall fellow who likes to wave his arms in the air when he talks!?

Qitarl Natl: The very same. Ahem...[Forename]. It appears we will require your assistance once more. Might you be so kind as to see my boy safely to Slitherbough, that he might summon this Quinfort for us?

Chaqurl Qhotl: Would you kindly, [Forename]? Father and I would appreciate it ever so muchly and more! Now come along, great serpent!

Optional
Qitarl Natl: Pray accompany my boy to Slitherbough. I am hopeful that your friend Master Quinfort may be able to shed some light on the matter at hand.

Valan: The Qitari boy told me you came seeking Quinfort's counsel. Are you sure you're feeling quite okay, [Forename]?

Chaqurl Qhotl: Slitherbough is full of tunnels, too! If Father wasn't waiting for us back at the Stopple, I'd love to go digging and delving here, too!

Qitari Serpent: Scree!

Speaking with Quinfort at Slitherbough
Quinfort: What's this you say!? Fell beasts prowl the tunnels at every turn? No doubt they are remnants of the shadows that wander the forests come to life! Demons, come to suck dry the currents of aether that give the Greatwood life, reducing our home to a withered husk!

Valan: They could be that. Or they could simply be nasty little brutes that crawled their way up from between the rocks. You know, like the ones around here.

Chaqurl Qhotl: Valan, my good sirmadam! You know of these creatures, too?

Valan: I do. Mother tells me that when our ancestors first came to Slitherbough, they were set upon by a swarm of ravenous creatures that crawled up from below. Fortunately, one of the elder priests managed to utter an incantation that drove them away.
Valan: If you look closely at the walls around us, you can see glyphs carved in them. The same protective magic that saved our forefathers then has been worked into the very walls around us. In a sense, the settlement of Slitherbough itself serves as a ward against the dangers that lurk beneath us.

Quinfort: Just so, Valan! And it is precisely wards and incantations of this sort that I have made the focus of my studies of late!

Chaqurl Qhotl: I remain ever impressed with your knowledge, my good sirmadams. Might it be too much to ask if you could teach this incantation to the great serpent, that he might protect us in our expedition below?

Qitari Serpent: Scree...?

Quinfort: Wh-What...what blasphemy do you speak, child!? Do you think me, a humble servant of the wood, so brazen as to believe he could enlighten the divine protector itself!?

Valan: <sigh> Look...this isn't exactly my area of expertise, but it strikes me that there might be a simpler way to approach this.
Valan: Why don't we simply fashion a talisman or two for them? You know, like the ones we've always used to keep danger at bay. I can craft a simple object to serve as the vessel, then Quinfort can mutter a few words and enchant it as he sees fit.
Valan: Tradition dictates that the talisman be fashioned from materials indelibly connected to the bearer's home. Those of us who live in Slitherbough usually gather what we need from the Citia Swamps, but for our Qitari friends, we'll have to look further east.

(If Miner)
Valan: [Forename]...your knowledge of rocks and stones just might serve us well here. Why don't you head over to Mjrl's Regret and see if you can't find us a serpent's-eye? It's a rare gem that we often carry about to ward off danger.

(If Botanist)
Valan: [Forename]...your knowledge of trees and shrubs just might serve us well here. Why don't you head over to Mjrl's Regret and see if you can't find us a spectral cocoon. It's a casing of spun silk that we often carry about to ward off danger.

(If Fisher)
Valan: [Forename]...your angling aptitude just might serve us well here. Why don't you head over to Mjrl's Tears and see if you can't fish us up a shimmershell. It's a sea-dwelling creature whose husk we often carry about to ward off danger.
Valan: If you're in need of appetizing bait, I figure a fruit worm should suffice. Speaking of fruit worms, doesn't the way they wriggle and squirm remind you of—on second thought, never mind.

(All)
Quinfort: And I shall immediately begin weaving an incantation especially tailored to protect our good friends from the sort of terrifying creatures that infest the caves and tunnels they seek to explore! Muahahaha! A foolproof plan if ever there was one!

Valan: Chaqurl, you can stay here with me in Slitherbough and help me collect the other materials I need. It'll be the perfect opportunity to introduce you to my fellow Blessed.
Valan: Once we have everything we need, let's meet up again at Hopl's Stopple. I want to test the effectiveness of the talisman for myself before we leave Chaqurl and his friends on their own.

Optional
Quinfort: I can scarce wait to put my prodigious talents to use for the sake of our Qitari friends!

Chaqurl Qhotl: Alla doody, friend! That's how people greet each other in Slitherbough. Did you not know?

Qitari Serpent: Scree! <br>
System: The serpent wriggles and writhes excitedly. It seems quite convinced that the talisman will serve its purpose well.

Qitari Natl: I was skeptical at first, but I must admit the Night's Blessed have been most accommodating hosts.

Delivering the [Item] to Valan
Valan: Oh, there you are! Were you able to find something suitable for making our talisman?
< Hand Over [Item] >
Valan: Why, yes. This should serve us quite well. Just give me a moment or two—I'll round up the materials Chaqurl and I gathered from the village and whip up something in no time.

Cutscene
Valan: Just add a feather here, here, and here, then thread through this length of rope, and...yes, this should do it!

Chaqurl Qhotl: It's...it's beautiful! And this will let us begin the ex-vacation in safety, you say?

Valan: Not so fast. The talisman needs to be enchanted before it's of any use. As it is now, it's little more than a fancy little ornament.
Valan: Well, Quinfort? This is the moment you've been waiting for, isn't it?

Quinfort: Muahahaha! Say no more! Stand back and bear witness as Quinfort, descendant of Dwatl, weaves an incantation the likes of which your eyes have never seen!

Valan: Why do I have a bad feeling about this...?

Quinfort: Worry not, dear Valan! In truth, at first I was uncertain which of the many prayers I have memorized would serve us best. A traditional chant of the Night's Blessed? But wait...the Qitari are an ancient race, so perhaps this calls for an incantation from ancient Ronka?
Quinfort: Long did I ponder—choose poorly, after all, and it could mean death and destruction for our friends, if not the forest itself! Fortunately, it was then that the great serpent came to me in a vision, enlightening me as to the precise words that will deliver us to salvation: words which have long been writ in the Gospel of Quinfort!

Valan: You're going to enchant this talisman with ramblings from your dream diary? Now I really have a bad feeling about this...

Quinfort: Do not be silly, Valan. The great serpent speaks through me, and I am but a vessel for his divine wisdom. Hark, it is precisely as it says in chapter fifty-two, verse five...
Quinfort: "The goddess's claws stained cerulean, she did await the arrival of the stewards. The coming of the darkness marked a new dawn; a proud people returned to the wood where the egg once fell from high above..."
Quinfort: "O, Great Serpent of Ronka, gifted to us by the heavens! Hear the plea of the great sage's scion, and guide the children of Ronka safely to their ancestral home!"
Quinfort: O, Great Serpent! Do tell me, were my prayers heard?

Qitari Serpent: Scree-eee!

Chaqurl Qhotl: Why, I've never heard an in-tank-ation so inspiring! Your powers truly are something else, Master Quinfort!

Quinfort: Oho! You are wise beyond your years, my young Qitari friend. My knowledge is vast, my powers indeed prodigious, and it is more than an honor to wield them in service of your esteemed people!

Valan: Though he's prone to bouts of madness from time to time, Quinfort is an accomplished priest. The talisman should serve you well.

Qitarl Natl: Splendid. Our excavation effort has already been delayed for far longer than we can afford.
Qitarl Natl: Well, Chaqurl? This is the moment of truth. There is no telling what dangers lurk beneath us. Are you quite certain you wish to accompany me to the tunnels below?

Chaqurl Qhotl: But of course, Father! Why else would I have come to this place with you? Together, we will unearth the secrets of our far-forethers, and reclaim our history!

Qitarl Natl: Very well. It is clear you do not take the task lightly. Perhaps you are coming of age after all. And with that, I believe it's time we started digging.

Chaqurl Qhotl: Let the ex-vacation begin!

Some time later...
System: Qitarl Natl and Chaqurl Qhotl have safely returned from their preliminary investigation of the tunnels.

Optional
Quinfort: Yet more manifestations of the great serpent! Whatever have we done to deserve such a blessing!?

Qitari Serpent: Scree!

Qitari Natl: Well, now...what have we here?

Stopple Serpent: Scree! Scree! <br>
System: The great serpent wriggles about and lets out a clear, clarion call. It would seem that it wishes to aid the Qitari in their effort to reclaim their history.

Valan: Well, Chaqurl? Were you able to find any of the tablets you were searching for?

Speaking with Chaqurl Qhotl (Cutscene)
Quinfort: What is this!? Another incarnation of the great serpent made manifest before us!? Whatever could be the meaning of this!? I must know at once!

Qitarl Natl: ...Ahem. If you could settle down for just a moment, Master Quinfort, I will explain in detail all I witnessed down below.

Chaqurl Qhotl: Father and I found a stone! It was big and square and covered with all sorts of writings, just like in the legends!

Qitarl Natl: As my boy says, we did indeed find the stelae. Or at least...one piece of them.

Valan: What remains...?

Qitarl Natl: According to Qitari legend, the stelae comprised four perfectly square stones, stacked to form a massive pillar. Which is to say, what we have found is but one part of the larger whole...
Qitarl Natl: And if that were not unfortunate enough, even the single stela we found has been badly weathered through the years. In many places, the engravings are all but indecipherable.
Qitarl Natl: That is not all we found. Lying beside the shattered stone were several sad piles of bones—no doubt the remains of our once-proud forefathers who carried the stelae down below. I shudder to think of their last moments, torn apart by sin eaters as they hid away our legacy for safekeeping.

Chaqurl Qhotl: Father and I thought to carry the stone to the surface, but in that moment, something jumped out and stood in our path!

Stopple Serpent: Scree!

Quinfort: Are mine eyes to be believed!? The behatted serpent that first accompanied our Qitari friends remains on the surface, which means...we are graced by yet another incarnation of the divine protector!

Valan: A third manifestation of the great serpent? Just how many of them are there, anyway?

Qitarl Natl: At the very least, this is the only one we encountered on our expedition. And yet, if it traveled here from somewhere to guide us in our efforts, it would not be unreasonable to assume that there are others where this one came from.
Qitarl Natl: In truth, it appeared and spoke to us just as we stood before the shattered stone. I cannot help but believe it was conveying to us a message, just as its brethren guided us to these ancient tunnels.
Qitarl Natl: Chaqurl and I pondered the matter, and we believe that we understand. The great serpent bids us to unearth what remains of the scattered and weathered stelae, and piece together our people's history anew with our own hands and minds.

Valan: I see. If the stones truly have been scattered and weathered by time, that's the best you could hope to do.

Quinfort: Yet surely you must have been able to make out something from what remained of the stone! What chronicles of eld were writ there!?

Qitarl Natl: ...Ahem. What we were able to make of the markings could be described thus: a mighty Ronso wearing a crown—no doubt meant to represent the first emperor of Ronka, stood tall with a blade raised high over his head.
Qitarl Natl: Before him, cowered a Qitari—one of our forefathers, no doubt. The carving would seem to depict the momentous occasion that was the first encounter between our people and the empire.
Qitarl Natl: And the implications could not be more clear. Doubtless our ancestors, ill-suited for battle, were conquered and subjugated by the might of Ronka, under whose yoke they would find new purpose as the stewards of history.

Chaqurl Qhotl: A most fascinating interpretation, Father. But if I might be so bold, I saw the drawings quite differently.
Chaqurl Qhotl: I do not believe the Ronkan emperor would be so cruel as to threaten the poor, weak Qitari. No, I believe that he found us vulnerable and at the mercy of the fearsome beasts of the forest. He slew the beasts by his own hand, and befriended our ancestors, giving us new purpose as his subjects.

Qitarl Natl: Your optimism is admirable, my boy, but I fear that such a bright and cheery interpretation of events is unlikely at best. History is full of harsh truths from which we must not avert our eyes.

Chaqurl Qhotl: But tales are still sung of the first emperor's might and majesty to this day, are they not? I simply cannot fathom that he would be so cruel as to enslave our people!

Valan: If you ask me, both theories seem reasonable. But if you intend to keep a record of history to pass down to posterity, you're going to have to choose one.

Quinfort: Two conflicting theories of the past—one to be etched in stone and sung until the end of time, and the other, destined to be consigned to the dust of the deep, dank caverns below! Truly, this is a turning point in the grand tapestry that is the history of the Qitari...!

Valan: Yes, yes. At any rate, I believe we've done all we can here.

Quinfort: Valan! I say, Valan—have you no interest in witnessing this momentous occasion in history!?

Qitarl Natl: I would not think of insisting that my interpretation is the only valid one. And yet, I cannot simply toss it aside in favor of my son's rose-colored view of the past.

Chaqurl Qhotl: How poso-lute-ly, absi-tive-ly vexing!

Qitari Serpent: S-Screeeeeeeee!

Chaqurl Qhotl: The great serpent...it speaks again!

Qitarl Natl: It does, and this time its message could not be more clear. It believes that [Forename], the ally of Ronka, should be the one to weigh the options at hand and decide which version of history shall be inscribed upon the stone.

Qitari Serpent: Scree!

System: The Qitari father and son have arrived at conflicting interpretations of the events depicted on the stela. At the bidding of the Great Serpent of Ronka, it has fallen to you to determine which version of history will be recorded.
System: In order to continue the Qitari quests, speak with either Qitarl Natl or Chaqurl Qhotl, and choose the interpretation of history that you find most convincing.
System: Your choice will affect not only the restoration of the stela, but history as it will be told for years to come. Once you make your choice, you will be unable to go back, so choose carefully.
System: Furthermore, yet another serpent clad in curious armor has arrived at the Qitari camp.

System: You have achieved Trusted reputation with the Stewards.
System: Borrowing the wisdom of the Night's Blessed, the Qitari have set up warding talismans around Hopl's Stopple. Free from the danger of wandering beasts, the excavation effort should proceed smoothly from here.
System: New Qitari society daily quests are now available from Qhoterl Pasol at Hopl's Stopple.
System: Furthermore, you will be able to undertake three additional quests from Qhoterl Pasol as a reputation bonus. This bonus is available until the daily reset time for allied society quests.
System: These additional quests will become available after accepting all current daily quests from Qhoterl Pasol. Please be advised that you cannot undertake these quests if you have no remaining allowances.
System: Furthermore, you now have access to a wider selection of wares from Yuqurl Manl.
Overview
irraphorism Irregular Tomestones of Aphorism will be awarded upon completion of specific activities. These include certain PvE and PvP combat duties, GATEs, and Ocean Fishing, among other activities. The list of available duties is viewable in the Mogpendium, which can be accessed from the main menu (Duty > Collection).

* Important: If this is your first time participating in a Mogpendium event, you will need to talk to an Itinerant Moogle to receive the Mogpendium and be able to earn irregular tomestones.

There are four types of objectives in the Mogpendium:
*Standard Objectives: Can be completed repeatedly, similar to objectives in prior events. Duties associated with this event will feature a moogle icon in the Duty Finder.
*Weekly Objectives: One random standard objective (with some exceptions) will be assigned as a weekly objective. Note that it is possible to be assigned a duty objective that you have not unlocked.
*Minimog Challenges: Two various objectives will be assigned as a weekly minimog challenge. Completing either one of the two will reward bonus irregular tomestones. You will not receive an additional bonus for completing both.
*Ultimog Challenges: These objectives can be completed once for the event period, resulting in a large bonus of irregular tomestones.

Weekly objectives are randomly assigned per player, while Minimog and Ultimog Challenges are shared.

Notes
*irraphorism Irregular Tomestones will not be awarded when using adventurer squadrons, Duty Support system, or Trust system.
*Irregular tomestone rewards are only available to unrestricted parties if the "Level Sync" option is applied.
*Rewards for standard objectives will be claimed automatically upon duty completion. Rewards for weekly objectives, minimog challenges, and ultimog challenges must be manually claimed from the Mogpendium.
*Mogpendium rewards cannot be claimed after the release of patch 7.55.
Farming Irregular Tomestones of Aphorism
*Make sure to complete the weekly objective, weekly Minimog challenge, and Ultimog challenge for bonus tomestones.
*GATEs appear every 20 minutes and provide a consistent source of tomestones.
*An average Hidden Gorge match takes around 10 to 13 minutes to complete and provides 3 to 5 tomestones.
** Hidden Gorge matches also happen more often during this event, which is useful for players working on the associated achievements.
**During this event, Modern Aesthetics - Styled for Hire is available for irraphorism tomestones, but is normally available for 18,000 wolf markWolf Marks. Hidden Gorge matches award 500 or 1000 wolf markWolf Marks, and also grant Challenge Log credit: up to an additional 2,000 wolf markWolf Marks from "Prepare to Dice" and "Luck Be a Lady Tonight".
::Because of this, players can simply farm Hidden Gorge to earn the wolf markWolf Marks needed, allowing them to buy Modern Aesthetics - Styled for Hire without spending tomestones.

Lore
In recent years, demand from collectors and historians has led to a surge of adventurers seeking tomestones, those mysterious relics of the Allagan Empire made to record and keep its secrets. Some small number of the artifacts, unique for the peculiar sort of knowledge contained within, have piqued the interest of the eccentric─in particular, itinerant moogles, who come bearing rare goods of their own to exchange for these "irregular" tomestones.
*The woman before you looks off into the distance with a visibly fretful expression.
**※The difficulty of this quest will be synced to your current level.

*An anxious mother in Slitherbough relates to you her plight. As she tells it, her son Valan-who you had some dealings with in the past-has once again run off with Quinfort, a would-be prophet with a penchant for the dramatic. She bids you go in search for the young man, lest he and his friend wander off too far and get themselves in trouble.
**※Please note that the difficulty of this quest has been synced to your current level. Furthermore, you may not proceed with a class or job that is different from when you accepted this quest.

*Searching the forest, you come upon Quinfort and a visibly frustrated Valan. The latter is expressing his frustration with his friend's predilection for dashing off at a moment's notice with scarcely a word of explanation when-lo and behold-Quinfort is struck with another vision, and promptly dashes off deep into the forest. With an audible sigh, Valan turns to you and asks that you join him in surveying the area for any sign of the impulsive prognosticator.

*You succeed in tracking down Quinfort, who stands before a curious scene: two ratlike creatures-one old, one young-being threatened at spearpoint by a couple of Viis guards. The two introduce themselves as Qitarl Natl and Chaqurl Qhotl of the Qitari, a mouselike tribe that once served the Empire of Ronka as scribes and scriveners before being driven to the depths of the forest at the time of the Flood. Having emerged from their hundred-year exile, they now seek to unearth the Qitari stelae-massive stone tablets engraved with records of their accumulated knowledge and history, and in doing so reclaim their legacy. They are accompanied by a small, squirmy creature that is the spitting image of the Great Serpent of Ronka who Quinfort so loyally serves. The serpent then dashes off with an excited "scree," leading the Qitari duo and Quinfort alike to conclude that the divine protector is leading them to the relic they seek. Should you be so inclined, follow along and join them in the search.

*You find the Qitari and their serpent standing near a sealed cave entrance. It is here, according to Qitarl Natl, that his forefathers stored away the stone tablets for safekeeping before fleeing the forest some one hundred years ago. He further elaborates that breaking the seal will require a relic of ancient Ronka-or more specifically, a stone housing immense aetherial power, and entreats your assistance in searching for one. You resolve to ponder their offer, and to speak with Qitarl again should you be inclined to cooperate.

*Qitarl rejoices at your generous offer of aid, his long-held wish of reclaiming his tribe's legacy finally within reach. Quinfort, struck with another burst of possibly divine inspiration, offers this hypothesis that the striped pattern on the great serpent's body might indeed be a clue as to the location of the stone you seek. Questioning his sanity but having nowhere else to turn, you strike out in search of the ancient relic that may grant you and your newfound Qitari friends passage into the cavern.

*You succeed in finding the stone and delivering it safely to Chaqurl Qhotl. Quinfort's ramblings again prove remarkably prophetic when the engraved slab sealing the cave's entrance gives way, granting passage to the grottoes and tunnels within. The Qitari explorers jump for joy, unable to contain their excitement at the discoveries that doubtless lie ahead. They resolve to call for a select group of their fellow tribesmen to assist in the excavation effort, which will be conducted on a grand scale. Should you be of a mind to aid the self-styled Stewards of Note in pursuing their life's work, they will surely welcome your continued presence at their camp in Hopl's Stopple.

Dialogue
Accepting the quest
Concerned Mother: Oh, hello there. You're the sweet young staying with Master Matoya, are you not? I've been meaning to thank you for looking after my boy that one time. His name's Valan. You remember him, don't you?
Concerned Mother: He's always running around with his friend Quinfort. You know, the one who so much enjoys hearing the sound of his own voice. Why, just moments ago, he rushed in here, then went dashing off, shouting about how he'd made a discovery “of staggering import” over in Fanow.
Concerned Mother: Valan, bless his heart, went running after him. I know these parts aren't as dangerous as they once were—and Quinfort apparently has made some friends among the Viis—but still...I can't help but worry.
Concerned Mother: Would you be so kind as to follow after them, and make sure Valan doesn't get into anything over his head? You can tell him his mother sent you.

Optional
Concerned Mother: The sin eaters do not plague the land like they once did. And yet, the Greatwood is vast, and there are any number of nasty critters lurking in the shadows. If anything became of my boy, I don't know what I'd do...

Quinfort: How many times must I tell you, Valan!? When the will of the wood summons me, I must heed its call!

Speaking with Valan at Fanow (Cutscene)
Valan: For the last time, Quinfort! Would it kill you to actually explain yourself before you go dashing around the forest like a madman!?

Quinfort: What nonsense do you speak, Valan? The Keeper of Whispers would never be so insolent as to keep the gods waiting when They would share with me Their wisdom! Why, the mere notion is preposterous! Blasphemous, even!

Valan: [Forename]!? Whatever are you doing here?
Valan: My mother sent you? Dear heavens, I'm sorry for dragging you into this. As you might suspect, Quinfort's ranting and raving about the “will of the wood” again.
Valan: When he ran off shouting about prophecies, I simply had to follow along to make sure he didn't get himself into any trouble. The Viis said we were welcome at any time, of course, but would it kill the man to be a bit more circumspect?
Valan: Oh, that reminds me. Whatever happened to that squirmy little fellow that Quinfort—for whatever ungodly reason—believes to be the “Great Serpent of Ronka”? Does it still travel with you, or did it get squished somewhere along the way?

Quinfort: What ignorance is this, Valan!? The divine protector has returned to slumber in its nest deep in the heart of Rak'tika, from which it speaks to me in my dreams even now!

Great Serpent of Ronka: Scree!

Quinfort: O, great one! Is it truly you, returned to grace your loyal servant with your presence in this time of need!? Truly, the wood has answered my pleas!

Valan: If the “great serpent” has been with you all this time, [Forename], I can only imagine what sort of dreams he's been having...
Valan: And yet...as skeptical as I am, the Viis seem to put stock in his visions. If there's even a hint of truth to them, who knows what we're in for...

Quinfort: Muahahaha! I know, my good friend, for I have seen it a thousand thousand times in my visions! This venerable forest is on the verge of entering a new age of harmony! For the great serpent shall let out a mighty cry, and so doing summon forth they who did serve great Ronka in times of eld!
Quinfort: Verily, the arrival of the heirs to wisdom ancient and true is nigh at hand! Now is the time! We must follow where the great serpent leads, and in doing so lay claim to a great future!

Valan: Quinfort! Not again...
Valan: I'm sorry to impose, [Forename], but would you mind helping me go after him? There's only one path forward through the forest, so he shouldn't be too hard to find.

(Optional)
Valan: He must be around here somewhere...

Searching for Quinfort at the designated location (Cutscene)
Valan: Look, over in that flower bed! Someone's there!

Cutscene
Vigilant Hunter: A rat who speaks? Who are you, and why do you trespass in our sacred forest!? Answer me, or we will be dining on rat stew this night!

Bewildered Beastman: Ye gads! Oh, do have mercy! I assure you—yes, most assuredly—that we come in peace!

Quinfort: >> Put down your arms! If my visions speak true—and I have never known them to speak otherwise—this mousy fellow and his diminutive companion are none other than the descendants of a proud Ronkan tribe of old! <<

Wary Hunter: You... You are from Slitherbough, yes? One of the so-called Night's Blessed?

Valan: There you are! I swear, Quinfort, do you take pleasure in driving me mad?
Valan: Forgive my friend here. He simply cannot control himself sometimes. I promise you I'll give him a stern talking-to when we get home. Now, Quinfort...

Vigilant Hunter: Hm? Friends of the ally of Ronka, are you? You are quite bold—or quite foolish—to rush forward before the spearpoint of a Viis as you did.

Wary Hunter: And who—or what—is this one? I have not seen him nor any of his ilk before. And yet you say he is a descendant from a proud tribe of Ronka?

Quinfort: Most assuredly so! For I did foresee his coming in a vision granted to me by none other than the great serpent itself!

Stylish Serpent: Scree!

Great Serpent of Ronka: Scree...? Scree!

Beastman Child: Look, Father! There's two of them!

< What will you say? >
< Qiqirn...? Here!? >
< Another serpent!? >

< Qiqirn...? Here!? >
Obsequious Beastman: A Qi-what? I fear you must be mistaken. But this is understandable. After all, my people have lived in hiding for generations. Few—if any—of those on the outside are familiar with our kind. Alas, how far our noble tribe has fallen...

< Another serpent!? >
Obsequious Beastman: What is this? The great serpent travels with you as well? Curious. How very curious, indeed...

(Both)
Quinfort: A most auspicious encounter this is! For a friend of the great serpent is a friend of ours, yes? Pray, my good sir, do enlighten us as to the name of your most ancient and venerable tribe.

Obsequious Beastman: ...Ahem. We are the Qitari. You call us an ancient and venerable tribe, and...I cannot deny that we are very much that.

Vigilant Hunter: The Qitari? That is a name I have heard from my elders. And yet, I was told that the last Qitari vanished a hundred years ago.
Vigilant Hunter: Those of us born after the Flood never paid the stories much heed, but... You say that we truly stand before a Qitari in the flesh?

Wary Hunter: However it may be, it is clear that the ally of Ronka and his friends mean us no harm. Let us put down our arms.

Cutscene
Qitari Child: Father and I have come in search of a great arfi-tact of our past! Great stones buried deep in a cave by his father's father's father's—how many fathers were there again, Father?

Stylish Serpent: Scree!

Qitari Father: Chaqurl! Have you forgotten your manners? It would be untoward not to introduce ourselves to our honored new friends.
Qitarl Natl: I am Qitarl Natl of the Qitari, and this is my foolish child, Chaqurl Qhotl. Do forgive us for our impropriety.

Chaqurl Qhotl: Yes, do forgive us for our impo-priety!

Qitarl Natl: For nigh on a century, our tribe has made its home in the shadow of the Light—deep in the forests on the far side of Qitana Ravel, by the rushing waters of Rak'tika Falls.
Qitarl Natl: We did not always hide in the darkness—this place we now stand was once our home. Then came that fateful day when the skies were flooded with Light. Facing certain doom, our forebears fled the forests—but not before a band of the bravest gave their lives to store away our greatest treasures for safekeeping, with the hope that one day their children's children might unearth them anew.
Qitarl Natl: These are the artifacts of which my son spoke—the Qitari stelae, mighty stone monoliths engraved with the accumulated knowledge of our people in its entirety.

Quinfort: Of course! It is precisely as I saw it in the visions the great serpent bestowed upon me! A proud and ancient tribe of scribes and scholars! The stewards of knowledge of ancient Ronka!

Qitarl Natl: ...Oho. You are most insightful, my friend. Indeed, we were once known as the Stewards of Note—a title that fittingly describes both our duties as keepers of written knowledge, and the surpassing aptitude with which we pursued the task. Our ancestors served proudly as scribes and scriveners for many a generation of Ronkan emperors.
Qitarl Natl: It is a role that came quite naturally to our people. For you see, we are not blessed with the longer lifespans of your kind. Thus, from our earliest days, we have been most meticulous about recording the happenings and learnings of our lives in precise and painstaking detail.
Qitarl Natl: The Qitari stelae—or, more specifically, the carvings and etchings that grace their surfaces—represent the summation of all the knowledge and wisdom we have acquired over the years. They represent, one might say, the collective memory of our people, passed down through the ages from generation to generation.

Chaqurl Qhotl: Long have we dreamed of returning here to search for the stones, and reclaiming our legacy. And yet! Nasty, nasty sin eaters and worse stood in our path, making the journey far too pair-lious to even attempt!
Chaqurl Qhotl: Then, one day, the skies turned dark! I trembled in terror, but next thing I knew, the great serpent was hopping and squirming beside me! He told me that a path through the Ravel had been cleared, and we were free to go home at last!

Qitarl Natl: Precisely. And so it was that my boy and I received the blessings of our fellow Qitari, and became the first of our kind in generations to return to this part of the Greatwood. Unfortunately, we were immediately set upon by all sorts of nasty creatures, forcing us to retreat and ponder our course of action.

Vigilant Hunter: ...Where we came upon you, and threatened you at spearpoint. Pray forgive us, allies of Ronka. We knew not who you were, nor all you had suffered to arrive here.

Wary Hunter: You intend to remain here in the Greatwood to search for these...stelae of yours, was it? Worry not. We shall tell all in Fanow of you—that you are friends, and not to be harmed. And with that, we must be on our way. Go in peace.

Qitarl Natl: Dear me, but that was a close one, wasn't it? I was all but certain Chaqurl and I were going to end up skewered. Were it up to me, I would have left the boy behind for his safety. But he is ever a curious one, and would hear nothing of it.

Chaqurl Qhotl: I'm not a child anymore, Father! I'm all of three summers!

Valan: Three!? Why, when I was three, I could barely walk straight!

Qitarl Natl: Oho! I do not doubt that is so, good sir. But for our people—the oldest of whom would be lucky to see twenty summers—Chaqurl here is almost a Qitari grown.
Qitarl Natl: ...But enough about us. If I might change the subject, you know your way around the Greatwood, yes? I have reason to believe that our forefathers buried the stelae in a cavern that extends deep into the mountains near the Ox'Dalan Gap. Perhaps you might be willing to—

Stylish Serpent: Scree! Scree!

Chaqurl Qhotl: Come, Father! We must follow him!

Quinfort: But of course! It all makes sense now! It is the great serpent who guided you here to us, and now—together—we must heed its clarion call! Say no more, great stewards of Ronka! It would be our honor to assist you in your noble cause!

Qitarl Natl: That is most kind of you, good sir. In that case, pray allow me to oblige. Let us follow where the great one leads.

Optional
Quinfort: The mere sight of the divine protector, humbling itself so as to crawl on the ground, that its loyal servants may rediscover and reclaim their proud past! Why, it nigh brings a tear to my eye!

Valan: Wonderful...his vision actually proved true. Now I'll never hear the end of it.

Qitarl Natl: And so we finally return to this place after one hundred years. But what awaits us here? The mere prospect stirs my heart and makes me tremble in anticipation...

Qitari Serpent: Scree! <br>
System: The serpent wriggles and writhes about excitedly. It appears most eager to see what lies beyond the sealed cave entrance.

Speaking with Chaqurl Qhotl near the Ox'Dalan Gap (Cutscene)
Chaqurl Qhotl: Father! Could this be the place?

Qitarl Natl: Let us see, now... The mark on the cave's entrance appears to be an ancient Ronkan ward. This is promising, and yet...problematic.
Qitarl Natl: Do allow me to explain. We Qitari worship Ox'Dalan, god of the dead and the world below. Our forebears no doubt believed that if they sealed away the stelae deep within the bowels of the land, Dalan Himself would watch over them and keep them safe until the day their descendants returned.

Quinfort: Most fascinating! Your knowledge of Ronkan tradition is impressive, indeed! However do you manage to know so much, despite your chronicles of history being lost to you for so long?

Qitarl Natl: Many ruins can be found near Rak'tika Falls, within the wood we have called home since the Flood. We have made an effort to explore and excavate them as best we could, that our Ronkan roots would not be entirely forgotten.

Quinfort: A most admirable goal—and one near and dear to my own heart, as well! For you see, I am one of the Night's Blessed, who traveled to these parts after the Flood. I, too, have a deep personal interest in the beliefs and traditions of the ancient civilization that once flourished here!
Quinfort: In fact, I have done extensive research looking into my own ancestors, and was pleased to discover that I can trace my lineage back to the none other than the great sage Dwatl himself!
Quinfort: And [Forename] here is a true ally of Ronka. Why, as the Viis tell it, coming was foretold by the last emperor himself!

Qitarl Natl: The descendants of Ronka and their allies reunited across the years? Oh, joyous day! This meeting must truly be a gift from the great serpent!

Valan: I can vouch for [Forename] here— is the very who drove the Lightwarden from these lands. As for the descendant of the great sage what's-his-name, I'd suggest you let at least half of his ramblings go in one ear and out the other.

Qitarl Natl: Could it truly be...? But yes, our hero stands before us! We watched your battle in the Ravel from the shadows. The moment you struck down that beast of Light, we knew that a new age was nigh. Oh, never have I seen such gallantry and valor!

Chaqurl Qhotl: I saw the battle, too! Never have I seen such vallantry and galor!

Qitarl Natl: At any rate, my good ... I am keen to begin the excavation, but I fear it won't be so simple. The warding seal here bars our entrance, and we will have to find a way to break it if we hope to proceed.
Qitarl Natl: If what I have gleaned from my research is correct, this will require an object of immense arcane power. A relic that will speak to the seal, and convey that the Qitari have returned to claim what is ours. An object imbued with the mystical energies of the forest itself...

Chaqurl Qhotl: Yes, an object with the glow of the Greatwood—as you always say, Father! I shall find it for you!

Qitarl Natl: Your enthusiasm is admirable, Chaqurl. But let us not get ahead of ourselves. This is a perilous place, and I have no intention of seeing you get snatched up by some terrible beast.
Qitarl Natl: And so I turn to the hero of the Ravel and the son of Dwatl. My good , might you know of someone who could aid us in our search?

< What will you say? >
< You can trust me. I'm a [Job]. >
< I know the Greatwood like the back of my hand. >

(Both)
Qitarl Natl: Oh, lucky day! Clearly, you are not merely a hero on the battlefield, but a of many talents indeed. We would be ever so indebted to you if we could impose upon you just this once.

Chaqurl Qhotl: Yes, we would be most in-tedd-ed, my good ! Or was it ? Father, I can never tell which is which!

Qitarl Natl: Enough prattling, Chaqurl. We must find a way to open this portal at once, that we might summon our fellow Stewards here and begin searching for the stelae in earnest.
Qitarl Natl: O, ally of Ronka. Qitarl Natl of the Qitari bows down and beseeches you. Will you lend us your aid and help my people reclaim our long-lost legacy? I promise you the debt will not go unpaid.
Qitarl Natl: I realize I ask much of you, and so soon after we met. Needless to say, pray take as much time as you require to consider our offer. Should you be inclined to offer your strength and wisdom to us, just say the word.

Optional
Quinfort: The descendants of the proud Qitari, emerged from the shadows to reclaim their legacy after a century! Mighty stone monoliths inscribed with the wisdom of the ages! Why, I can just feel the wondrous secrets of ancient Ronka stirring me to the depths of my soul!

Valan: Is there anything you can't do? No wonder Master Matoya is so happy to have you around.!

Chaqurl Qhotl: After the battle, when the skies went dark, I could hardly believe my eyes! After all, I'd never seen the...er...what's the opposite of day again?!

Qitari Serpent: Scree!!

Speaking with Qitarl Natl
Qitarl Natl: I am happy to greet you again, my good . What say you? Have you given any thought to my entreaty?

< What will you say? >
< The ally of Ronka stands with you. >
< The ally of Ronka has more important things to do. >

< The ally of Ronka has more important things to do. >
Qitarl Natl: I see. Well, that is a shame, isn't it? And here I thought we were getting on so well. But I forget myself. Of course, you are free to conduct your business as you see fit. Should you ever have a change of heart, my son and I will be waiting here...patiently.
(Dialogue Ends)

< The ally of Ronka stands with you. >
Quinfort: Powerfully spoken, [Forename]! Truly, this shall mark a new dawn in the annals of Ronkan history! As the great sage is my witness, I say: let the Qitari rise to glory anew!

Qitarl Natl: We are truly in your debt, ally of Ronka. I entrust the vital task of finding an object with the glow of the Greatwood to you. As for where to begin your search...

Quinfort: Leave that to me, my long-snouted friend! Did you mayhap notice that the serpent your dear Chaqurl brought along has a rather distinctive pattern of scales on its most exquisite body? I have reason to believe that this pattern will indeed lead us to that which we seek!

Qitari Serpent: Scree!

Quinfort: Hark unto the serpent's cry! And know that the points of light that glow amidst the stripes represent those precise spots where the aether that flows through the Greatwood is most densely concentrated!

(If Miner or Botanist)
Quinfort: Behold! Here, in the northwestern reaches of the Blind Forest of Yx'Maja—conveniently marked by this slimy little scar—we can see what is doubtless a convergence of sorts. If anywhere, it is there we will find a specimen of sufficient power to breach the seal!

(If Fisher)
Quinfort: Behold! Here, in the western reaches of Mjrl's Regret—conveniently marked by this slimy little scar—we can see what is doubtless a convergence of sorts. If anywhere, it is there we will find a denizen of the deep whose scales are imbued with sufficient power to breach the seal!
Quinfort: I might add that—if my encyclopedic knowledge of forest fauna serves me well—these creatures are known to have a particular fondness for fruit worms.

(Both)
Qitarl Natl: Oho! If the son of Dwatl says it is so, then surely it would behoove us to pay heed.
Qitarl Natl: When you return with the relic, pray let Chaqurl see it once. I would have my boy gain firsthand knowledge of the wisdom of his forefathers.

Optional
Qitarl Natl: Have you had any luck in finding the relic we seek, good sir? I do not mean to hurry you, but I would very much like to get on with the excavation before I die of old age.

Chaqurl Qhotl: Father says that with you on our side, we're sure to open the door and begin the ex-vacation any time now!

Valan: I don't put much stock in Quinfort's ramblings, but even a madman can stumble upon a fragment of truth from time to time. As for whether whatever you find will serve our purposes, I guess we'll just have to see, won't we?

Quinfort: The great serpent has spoken! Yes, it is as clear to me as a clarion call from the heavens! Ancient aetheric energy will be summoned forth, and the door shall open, revealing a pathway to great secrets of the past!

Qitari Serpent: Scree! Scree!

Delivering the item to Chaqurl Qhotl
Chaqurl Qhotl: You have returned! And what's this? Do I see something glowing on your person?
<Hand Over Item>
Chaqurl Qhotl: Why, it's beautiful! Oh, thank you, sirmadam—or was it madamsir? Now, Father says I need simply point it at the door, and...

Cutscene
Qitarl Natl: My word... It opens! Oh, splendid! Splendiferous!

Chaqurl Qhotl: Splen-fid-erous indeed! Look, Father! The seal is broken!

Qitarl Natl: It has, Chaqurl...it has. And with this, after a hundred years...we stand on the verge of reclaiming our legacy.
Qitarl Natl: But our task has only begun. There will be digging—yes, much digging—and delving. We must relay the triumphant tidings to our tribesmen, and summon them here to assist in the excavation. Yes, from this day, the Stewards will not rest until a new page in the annals of Qitari history has been writ.

Chaqurl Qhotl: Do not worry, Father! I will work as hard as any Steward to reclaim our less-agy! Oh, Sirmadam [Forename]—you will help us in our quest, yes?

System: Sealed tight for a century, the door to the ancient cave now lies open, and the Qitari excavation effort can begin in earnest.

Chaqurl Qhotl: Good [Forename]! You must meet my mother! Mother will be running the camp and seeing that everything is order. Isn't that right, Mother? Yes?

Qhoterl Pasol: My son speaks true. Reclaiming our history is about more than grand discoveries of ancient artifacts. There is much that must be done to ensure we can go about our daily lives in this place. And so I would call upon you for aid from time to time, if you would not be disinclined to help us.

System: Will the Stewards' excavation effort succeed? Will the lost stelae of the Qitari return to the light, that young Chaqurl might one day know the wisdom of his ancestors? Or are ancient secrets destined to stay forever shrouded in darkness? Only the gods know...

Qitari Serpent: Scree!

Cutscene
Qitarl Natl: I am pleased to report that we have begun a preliminary investigation of the first level of the tunnels below. I am optimistic that we shall find signs of the first stela before long.

System: You have achieved Friendly reputation with the Qitari.
System: Qitari society quests are now available from Qhoterl Pasol at Hopl's Stopple.
System: Furthermore, you may now purchase wares from Yuqurl Manl.

Optional
Qitari Serpent: Scree! Scree! <br>
System: The serpent lets out a high-pitched cry. It would appear that it is encouraging the Qitari excavators to delve deeper.

Chaqurl Qhotl: I simply cannot wait to see what will be found in the caves next. Truth be told, I can barely contain my excitement!

Qhoterl Pasol: I'm pleased to say that our excavating operations have commenced. While my husband and son spearhead the search for the stone tablets, I shall see to it they have all the support they require here at the Stopple.

Yuqurl Manl: It's always a pleasure to trade with those willing to aid our cause! We are fortunate indeed to have your cooperation.

Opirl Notl: We have taken to calling this place "Hopl's Stopple," after the legendary Qitari elder who led the effort to seal away the stelae a hundred years ago.
Walkthrough
This quest contains a solo instance that takes place in the Aetherfont.

At the start, move forward and defeat the two groups of enemies on the path, then talk to the Hard-pressed Surveyor.

Take the zipline to the next area, then go right and talk to the Concerned Researcher. The nearby gate will open, revealing an area that was previously inaccessible in the dungeon instance.

Defeat the enemies past the gate, then interact with the Beast Carcass further ahead (14.1, 13.1). Head to the eastern part of the area and interact with the Tattered Plumage (14.6, 14.9). Continue southwest and interact with the Animal Leavings (13.2, 15.4), which will also spawn some enemies. Return to the researchers behind the gate, which triggers a cutscene, then a boss.

Giant Colibri
You will be accompanied by G'raha Tia and Wuk Lamat during this battle.
*Wind Unbound: Unavoidable party-wide magical damage.
*Snatch Morsel: Tankbuster.
*Pecking Flurry: Unavoidable party-wide physical damage and sequentially spawns three sets of circular AoEs that cover the entire arena. Move into the first set of AoE telegraphs once they go off.
*Sticky Spit: Stack marker on the player that inflicts Sticky, preventing all movement and actions. The boss will begin casting Gliding Spit, a line AoE. However, Wuk Lamat will escape the slime and pull both you and G'raha Tia to safety.
*The boss uses Pecking Flurry again followed by Swoop, a line AoE charge in front of it with a brief telegraph.
*Furling Flapping: Spread AoE telegraphs on everyone. This attack will knock everyone up and incapacitate them with Fetters (tornadoes).
*The boss begins casting Gliding Spit again, then a very brief active time maneuver will start. Once you break out of the tornado, defeat the other two tornadoes to free your allies before they are hit with the attack.
*Ruffling of Feathers: The boss becomes untargetable and begins hitting the party with Full-fledged Tantrum, unavoidable magical damage. Its two wings (Left Wing and Right Wing) will become targetable. G'raha Tia will heal during this sequence. Wuk Lamat will destroy both wings with a limit-break-esque AoE.
*Once this sequence is over, finish off the boss.

Steps
*Speak with Wuk Lamat at the Scholar's Harbor near the entrance to The Aetherfont.
*Speak with Erenville.
*Speak with Dickon at The Last Stand.
*Speak with Erenville.

Journal
*As you deliberate a suitable location for Wuk Lamat's hunt, Erenville mentions a petition for aid from researchers on the Isle of Haam. Some manner of predator has unsettled ordinarily docile animals, causing them to behave savagely, and the task involves identifying and dealing with the creature. Seeing an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, you all make your way to Scholar's Harbor to secure passage with the exception of Krile, who promises to join you at the isle after she has seen to her preparations.
*After a brief search, you manage to find Erenville and the visitor, who introduces herself as Wuk Lamat, claimant to the throne of Tuliyollal in the far-western continent of Tural. The gregarious woman wastes no time revealing her business: she wants you to accompany her to her homeland and help her triumph in the impending ritual of succession, a contest to determine the next ruler. As it is a rather abrupt request to make of someone she has only just met, she proposes going on a hunt together, the better to get acquainted.
*You enjoy a hearty repast with Wuk Lamat, who takes the opportunity to speak more of her homeland and the coming ritual of succession. It becomes clear that her chief aim in seeking the throne is to deny the ambitions of another claimant a warmonger who aspires to lead Tural's armies on a campaign of conquest. Reiterating her desire for you to join her cause, she says that she will remain in Sharlayan for as long as she can while awaiting your decision.
*Though Erenville is less than impressed with Wuk Lamat in certain ways, he appears to believe in her cause. Whether you choose to lend your strength to it, however, is entirely your decision. The gleaner then goes off to report the mission's success to the guildship, leaving you to ponder your invitation to Tural.

Dialogue
Optional Dialogue:
Krile: A journey to Tural...

Erenville: That's the long and short of it. At the very least, I ask that you go on this hunt of hers and take her measure for yourself.

Wuk Lamat: So, where to for our hunt? The stronger the prey, the better!

Accepting the quest (Cutscene)
G'raha Tia: The chance to see not only Tural, but the fabled golden city besides... This is the stuff of grand adventures, my friend!
G'raha Tia: Wh-Which is not to say you should hastily accept this invitation, mind. There's still a great deal we do not know.
G'raha Tia: So let us begin to rectify that by first getting acquainted with our visitor in the manner she suggests.
G'raha Tia: I'm not certain what might be a suitable location for her hunt, however...
Erenville: When I was at the guild earlier, I learned about a petition from researchers on the Isle of Haam.
Erenville: You went there not long ago and culled some unruly fauna, of course, but according to recent reports, other ordinarily docile fauna have grown savage.
Erenville: It's believed that they've been unsettled by some manner of predator, and so the researchers seek assistance with identifying and dispatching it. As part of your hunt, perhaps you might answer the petition?
G'raha Tia: The isle isn't far, and we would also be helping those in need...
Wuk Lamat: That works for me!
Wuk Lamat: Just so you know─I've honed my skills against some of the fiercest beasts in Tural.
Wuk Lamat: Whatever this creature is, it had better be able to put up a proper fight, or it'll end before we have the chance to get acquainted.
Krile: And before we can prove ourselves capable and dependable companions...
Krile: My apologies, but I must see to some preparations. Pray go on ahead to the isle─I will join you as soon as possible.
Erenville: If the rest of you are ready, let us head to the harbor. This being guildship business, it should be simple enough to secure a vessel.

Optional Dialogue:
Erenville: We have the loan of a ship from one of the captains─a cheery fellow. I can operate the vessel, so we don't need to trouble him to take us.

G'raha Tia: Krile was acting a little strange, don't you think? This is just a simple hunt. I wonder what preparations she needs to make...

Speak with Wuk Lamat. (Cutscene)
Wuk Lamat: So we have to take a ship? Ugh, and I've barely set foot on dry land...
Wuk Lamat: Oh well, I suppose it's for a good cause─a hunt!
Wuk Lamat: Come on, let's get going!

Voiced cutscene
Erenville: From here, we must walk.
Wuk Lamat: So much ice... It rivals even Yok Tural.
Wuk Lamat: Ooh, a white bear! I wonder what it tastes like...
Erenville: Remember, we're here to deal with creatures that have been deemed an unacceptable danger. Do not attack anything else unprovoked.
Wuk Lamat: I know, I know.
Wuk Lamat: So this is the isle where aether literally bursts forth!
Erenville: Aye, the Isle of Haam. The geysers lie deep inland, however.
Wuk Lamat: You really are knowledgeable. Koana told me nothing about this place.
Erenville: I doubt your brother managed to come out this way. He's like to have toured facilities like Labyrinthos, however.
Wuk Lamat: The great big cavern under the city? It's amazing that they could make a sky down there, complete with a sun.
G'raha Tia: This brother of yours... He has been to Sharlayan?
Wuk Lamat: He has. Koana's my second older brother, and until recently, he was a student in the city.
Wuk Lamat: He went on and on about “technological amusements.” It made me want to come here too one day.
Wuk Lamat: And so I did. I think I understood something of how he felt when I set foot in his beloved Studium.
G'raha Tia: He went to the Studium? Your brother must be quite a scholar.
G'raha Tia: But I wonder... Like you, he'd be royalty, yes? Such a personage coming to Sharlayan to receive an education would surely have caused a stir, yet I recall nothing of the sort...
Wuk Lamat: He consulted with the head of the Studium beforehand, that his identity might remain secret.
Wuk Lamat: Being Miqo'te, he had no trouble blending in. He's adopted like me, you see.
Wuk Lamat: One time, though, he almost let it slip to a professor. It was all he could do to parry the barrage of questions.
G'raha Tia: Having no shortage of questions myself, I can imagine.
Wuk Lamat: Ask whatever you like. I don't mind. But I maintain hunting together is the best way to get to know someone.
Erenville: The researchers should be up ahead. Let's find them and learn what we can.
Voiced cutscene end

Solo Instance: <!-- TODO: Fix this -->

Erenville: The researchers should be just ahead.
Erenville: There─the building to the northeast.
G'raha Tia: So, ordinarily harmless creatures have grown savage...
Wuk Lamat: Don't know what's got them riled up, but I'll take down any that thinks to try me!

Erenville: I'll leave the fighting to you.
Wuk Lamat: Right, let's hunt our fill!
Erenville: Well struck!
Erenville: All right. Let's keep moving.
Erenville: Look! Someone's in trouble!
Hard-pressed Surveyor: Someone help!
Wuk Lamat: Yaaargh! Taste my axe!
Hard-pressed Surveyor: Aaahhh!
Erenville: These animals are usually so docile...
Erenville: What has happened to this island?
Erenville: They leave us no choice...
Erenville: Are you all right?
Hard-pressed Surveyor: Yes, thanks to you.

Hard-pressed Surveyor: Oh, thank goodness you've come. I take it you're the one who answered our petition.
Hard-pressed Surveyor: Wait, aren't you...? You are! [Forename], the adventurer who saved our star! Would that our meeting was under better circumstances.
Hard-pressed Surveyor: I was conducting a routine inspection of the transporter here when I suddenly found myself surrounded.
Hard-pressed Surveyor: You'll find more of the same across the chasm─once-docile animals grown strangely aggressive. My colleagues there can tell you more.
Hard-pressed Surveyor: If you'll give me just a moment, I can finish checking our equipment.

Wuk Lamat: You really are famous.

G'raha Tia: And for good reason, as you'll soon see for yourself.

Hard-pressed Surveyor: There. It should be safe to cross now.

Wuk Lamat: Let's go!
Wuk Lamat: Haha! Quite an interesting contraption you've got here!

Erenville: Is that our petitioner? Let's go and have a chat.

Distressed Researcher: If you've come to answer the petition, you should speak with my colleague here.

Concerned Researcher: The adventurer come to answer my petition, I presume? We're most fortunate to have one of your considerable skill here to aid us.
Concerned Researcher: A creature of unknown origins has been sighted on the island in recent days, and we believe its presence has affected the local fauna.
Concerned Researcher: The animals beyond this gate are the worst affected we've encountered thus far, though we dare not go back.
Concerned Researcher: Your task is to quell any threats you find, and search for traces of the beast responsible for all this.
Concerned Researcher: If you should find anything─anything at all─we would be most grateful if you would share it with us.

Wuk Lamat: Let's get started!

Erenville: No running off!

Wuk Lamat: I'll handle this!
Wuk Lamat: Hold still!
Wuk Lamat: Hmph. Is that all?

G'raha Tia: Impressive.

Wuk Lamat: Come on, let's pick up the creature's trail!

G'raha Tia: What have we here?

Erenville: Struck down defending its territory, most like.

System: You find ravaged beast remains, torn to shreds by sharp talons...

Wuk Lamat: These claw marks... I've seen their like before.

Erenville: We mustn't let any more creatures come to harm.

Wuk Lamat: It's starting to feel like a proper hunt!

G'raha Tia: What manner of beast could it be?

Erenville: I see no tracks that match those claw marks...

Wuk Lamat: Such marks would be too common in any case.

Erenville: There has to be a clue here somewhere...

G'raha Tia: How large do you suppose it is?

Erenville: What's this?

Wuk Lamat: The beast has feathers, eh?

System: You find feathers are scattered about the ground. There are signs of a fierce struggle...

G'raha Tia: Feathers... But did they belong to the predator or the prey?

Wuk Lamat: So, how do you prefer our prey? Roasted or raw?

Erenville: You presume it's even safe to eat...

Wuk Lamat: So many strange plants you have here.

Erenville: Focus. We've no time for picking flowers.

Wuk Lamat: Ugh, that smell...

System: The cloying stench of fresh leavings assails your nostrils. Whatever beast left them is likely still close by...

Erenville: Still fresh. Whatever this beast, it cannot be far.

System: The animals are worked up into a frenzy!

Erenville: Careful!

G'raha Tia: Do you suppose they're upset we disturbed their home?

Wuk Lamat: Who knows? But if they're spoiling for a fight, then they've got one!

Erenville: Let's head back and report what we've found.

Wuk Lamat: You said the beast is close?

G'raha Tia: Even so, we should speak with the researchers first.

Voiced cutscene
Wuk Lamat: Powerful wings and razor-sharp talons... Worthy prey!
Wuk Lamat: What is that thing!?
Giant Colibri: Squawk! What is that thing!? What is that thing!?
Wuk Lamat: It...
Wuk Lamat: It speaks!?
G'raha Tia: It's heading towards the falls!
Erenville: I'll stay with the researchers. The creature, I leave to you.
G'raha Tia: Come, Wuk Lamat!
Wuk Lamat: R-Right!
Wuk Lamat: Just so we're clear, I wasn't startled by the beast earlier. It caught me by surprise, that's all.
G'raha Tia: Forgive me, but I fail to see a difference.
Wuk Lamat: I-I'm getting hungry. Let's be done with this so we can eat!
Giant Colibri: Caught me by surprise! Caught me by surprise!
Wuk Lamat: Think you're clever, huh? I'll rip off that beak and roast you on a spit!
Voiced cutscene end

Giant Colibri battle:

Wuk Lamat: Talk all you like, bird! I'm going to have the last laugh!
Wuk Lamat: Oh, I'm going to enjoy sinking my teeth into you!

Giant Colibri: I'm going to have the last laugh!

Wuk Lamat: Gah! Shut up already, you blasted bird!

Giant Colibri: Shut up already! Shut up already!

G'raha Tia: Look out!
G'raha Tia: I've never seen such an enormous colibri...

Wuk Lamat: Not good... Quickly, gather together!

G'raha Tia: I...can't move...

Wuk Lamat: I've got you!
Wuk Lamat: Yaaaaaargh!

G'raha Tia: That was too close...

Wuk Lamat: Steady now.

G'raha Tia: Spread out, everyone.

Wuk Lamat: You'll pay for that!
Wuk Lamat: Thank you.

Wuk Lamat: What's gotten into this thing!?

G'raha Tia: Try aiming for its wings!

Wuk Lamat: Hmph, that was hardly a tickle!

Giant Colibri: Hardly a tickle!

Wuk Lamat: Try this!
Wuk Lamat: Nothing to it.
Wuk Lamat: We have you now, you loud-mouthed bastard!

Giant Colibri: Loud-mouthed bastard!

G'raha Tia: Throw everything you have at it!

Voiced cutscene
Wuk Lamat: Hmph, and I had barely limbered up.
G'raha Tia: It was a terrible foe, but no match for your axe.
Wuk Lamat: O-Only to be expected!
Wuk Lamat: You were pretty impressive yourselves. I was right to invite you on a hunt.
Wuk Lamat: But what a curious bird that was. Though we have similar in Tural, they don't grow so big or use such dirty tricks.
Giant Colibri: Dirty tricks! Dirty tricks!
Wuk Lamat: Aye, dirty and despicable. Otherwise I could have...easily...
Krile: Leave this to me!
G'raha Tia: Krile?
Krile: I am terribly, terribly sorry to have kept you all waiting!
Erenville: She arrived as I was seeing the researchers to safety. It was all I could do to keep up with her after I explained what happened.
G'raha Tia: So this is what you meant by seeing to preparations.
Krile: After hearing of the contest, I thought how wonderful it would be to join you.
Krile: In coming here, I wanted to demonstrate my skill at arms to Wuk Lamat. Alas, it seems I missed most of the action...
Wuk Lamat: That was amazing! The beast didn't stand a chance!
Krile: I'm glad to have been of service.
G'raha Tia: May I ask what inspired this change?
Krile: You will recall the time you descended to the aetherial sea in search of Hydaelyn.
Krile: Recognizing that my skills were inadequate, I chose to provide support from afar rather than join you.
Krile: It was the same when you set forth for Ultima Thule. How it pained me to stay behind, again and again...
Krile: That's what inspired this change. Ever since the Final Days were averted, I've used every spare moment to hone my craft.
Krile: As you all have adapted your methods to suit the circumstances, I started by considering how I might best contribute.
Krile: And after much deliberation, I arrived at my answer...
Krile: With the esoteric art passed down by the legendary Archon Relm─pictomancy.
Krile: As I recall, you have embraced versatility to effectively complement a certain someone's style.
Krile: What I do is much the same. Like you, I don't want to be left behind.
G'raha Tia: Indeed.
G'raha Tia: I must say, you appear to be especially keen on being involved in the ritual of succession. Is there any particular reason?
Krile: Yes, there is. This letter from Tuliyollal.
Krile: It was addressed to my grandfather Galuf, and turned up among the Students' archives.
Krile: The ink was faded so I couldn't fully make out the sender's name, a Gulool...someone.
Wuk Lamat: Ja Ja. Gulool Ja Ja. That's my father, the Dawnservant.
Wuk Lamat: What does the letter say?
Krile: While much of it isn't legible, it appears to be a request to investigate the golden city.
Erenville: A request to investigate the golden city...from the Dawnservant himself?
Wuk Lamat: Well, well... Seems it may be more than a rumor after all.
Krile: Being a member of the royal family, it was my hope that you could confirm the authenticity of this letter.
Wuk Lamat: I can say for a fact that my father didn't write this.
Wuk Lamat: Given how culturally diverse Tuliyollal is, it was decided some time ago that a common language was needed.
Wuk Lamat: But instead of elevating an existing tongue, and its speakers, above all others, we looked to those widely spoken overseas and created an altogether new one.
Wuk Lamat: These similarities to your common tongue also make it quite easy to communicate in these situations, no?
Wuk Lamat: This letter, however, is entirely in Eorzean. If Father had written this, it would have been in Turali.
Wuk Lamat: What's more, it bears a wax seal. We don't bother with them.
Krile: So the letter is fraudulent, then?
Wuk Lamat: Oh, I didn't mean to say that. My father's signature is genuine, as far as I can tell, so perhaps he simply dictated it.
Krile: I see... Thank you for the confirmation. It seems my grandfather indeed had dealings with Tuliyollal.
Krile: I can't help but be curious as to what exactly he was doing there.
Krile: In order to help us decide on a course of action, would you mind if I asked you some questions about your home?
Wuk Lamat: By all means.
Wuk Lamat: After all, learning about one another was the purpose of this hunt.
Wuk Lamat: We can talk while feasting on this fellow. I for one am starving!
G'raha Tia: We're eating...that?
Voiced cutscene end

Optional Dialogue
Krile: Thanks to Wuk Lamat, we now know who sent the letter to Grandfather, among other things. But many questions still remain...

G'raha Tia: I understand Krile's feelings all too well. The desire to do one's part. It can be daunting to try and keep up, but nothing will change unless we take the first step.

Wuk Lamat: Ah, what an exciting hunt that was! And now, it's time to savor the reward!

Speak with Erenville.
Erenville: With the wildlife pacified and the researchers safe, our task is complete.
Erenville: That just leaves the matter of the colibri meat...
Erenville: For better or for worse, there's really only one place we can take it to here in Sharlayan: the Last Stand.
Erenville: Come, let us see what Dickon can cook up for us...

Speak with Dickon. (Cutscene)
Dickon: Well now, there's a famished face if I've ever seen one. What can I get you, [Forename]?
Dickon: Oho, bird meat from the hunt, you say? Leave it to me─I have just the recipe.
Dickon: It's a new dish I recently learned from some sailors, and for you lot, it's on the house. Have as much as you like, you hear?

Voiced cutscene
Wuk Lamat: Come, come, let's enjoy the bounty of our first outing together!
Wuk Lamat: I'd heard that Sharlayan cuisine was terrible, but this is fantastic!
Erenville: What is this? It smells...spicy.
Wuk Lamat: Oh come now, since when did you become so soft? It's not like we don't have spicy food in Tural too!
G'raha Tia: According to Dickon, intensely hot dishes have become popular in Radz-at-Han after a traveler ordered a curry with several times the usual amount of spice.
G'raha Tia: So he started offering the same in order to please the growing Hannish population here in Sharlayan.
Wuk Lamat: It's nothing...I can't handle!
Erenville: Your boorish manners reflect poorly on the both of us. I wish you would consider your station...
Wuk Lamat: I swear, sometimes it feels like you open your mouth only to criticize.
G'raha Tia: Would I be correct in assuming you've known each other for a long time?
Wuk Lamat: Aye. Thick as thieves since we were little.
Erenville: I beg to differ. She is a long-standing acquaintance, nothing more.
G'raha Tia: I see, I see...
Krile: All this time, you were from Tural? Would that I had known sooner. There's so much I'd like to ask...
Erenville: You and everyone else. I've kept it quiet so as to avoid the endless interrogations.
Wuk Lamat: Well, if he's going to be a miser, I'll be happy to tell you about our homeland instead.
Wuk Lamat: Since ancient times, many peoples have called Tural home, and they've been fighting each other for nearly as long.
Wuk Lamat: The fighting finally stopped some eighty years ago, when the reigning Dawnservant unified the disparate communities and founded a new nation.
G'raha Tia: And that's how Tuliyollal came to be...
Wuk Lamat: Since then, we've enjoyed an era of uninterrupted peace.
Wuk Lamat: But my father is getting old, and he wishes to relinquish the throne to a worthy successor─one who can preserve his legacy.
Wuk Lamat: Including myself, there are four claimants to the throne. But while we all have the right to participate, one among us cannot be allowed to rule.
Erenville: A man who is too ambitious by half.
Erenville: Word of the Garlean Empire's collapse has reached Tural.
Erenville: While most are simply relieved, he sees weakness to exploit, and would lead our armies across the seas on a campaign of conquest.
Wuk Lamat: After everything my father has done to give us peace, he would drag us back into war.
Wuk Lamat: I can't allow it!
Wuk Lamat: No matter what, I must win this contest!
G'raha Tia: I understand your reasons, but this being an event that will dictate the course of your nation's future, is it appropriate for outsiders like us to be involved?

Wuk Lamat: Oh, it's more than appropriate. The Dawnservant himself expressly encourages it.
Wuk Lamat: The ruler of Tural must navigate the intricacies of myriad cultures, and there's no better way to prove oneself qualified to do so than to work with foreign allies.
Wuk Lamat: That's why I sought you out. Through our hunt, I've confirmed that you're a warrior of considerable skill. But more importantly, one of good character as well.
Wuk Lamat: And so I ask you: will you lend me your strength, and help me win the throne of Tuliyollal?
Wuk Lamat: You don't need to decide right this moment.
Wuk Lamat: But I will need you if I'm to triumph over the competition. I'll stay here as long as I can while waiting for your answer.
Krile: In that case, allow us to prepare a room for you at the Baldesion Annex.
Wuk Lamat: That's very kind of you!
Wuk Lamat: Oh, and one more thing... Once we've finished eating, would you mind if I took the rest of the meat?
Voiced cutscene end

Optional Dialogue
G'raha Tia: Judging by Wuk Lamat's reaction, it appears Turali cuisine isn't excessively fiery.

Speak with Erenville.
Erenville: Whether Wuk Lamat has the makings of a ruler, I couldn't say. But I do know that she deeply cares for her nation and her people.
Erenville: Whether you choose to help her, though, is for you and you alone to decide. Think on it well.
Erenville: Now then, it's past time I reported our mission's success to the guildship. I would've done so sooner, except Her Highness needed to have her royal meal.
Erenville: I shall come by the annex later. Till then.
Steps
*Speak with Runar in Slitherbough.
*With the chat mode in Say, enter "allin tuta" to greet Runar.
*Speak with Davith.
*Speak with Zero.
*Speak with Cassard at Twine.
*Speak with Zero.

Journal
*Zero's cool expression cannot hide the fire in her eyes.
*Owing to Chai-Nuzz's support, you are assured that the Eulmorans will not protest your plan to gather Light at the Crystarium. With no further business to attend to in the city, you set your sights on the Rak'tika Greatwood, where you will meet with Runar in Slitherbough.
*Runar declares that while the Night's Blessed hold Darkness in the highest, their beliefs would not move them to object to your plan. Yet while there is no need to persuade the people of Slitherbough, the Ronso wishes to welcome your party properly, and asks that you recite the customary words spoken by friends of the Night's Blessed. With the chat mode in Say, say “allin tuta” to offer Runar a traditional greeting.
*You speak the greeting with your characteristic finesse, prompting Runar to bid you welcome to Slitherbough. For Zero's benefit, he also explains the significance of the greeting in a world engulfed in Light, before directing you to seek out Davith to be cleansed of Light's impurities.
*You arrive just as Zero has finished undertaking the ritual, which involves washing with water blessed by priests. When Zero questions why they have retained the custom even though night has returned, Davith states that it still serves as a prayer for the safety of friends and visitors. Satisfied, Zero makes her way back to Runar, and you and Ryne follow.
*Though she is unsure how or why, Zero confesses that taking part in the traditions of the Night's Blessed have left her feeling more confident in your purpose. Nevertheless, even should you triumph over Golbez and Zeromus, the fate of the void would remain unchanged...or would it? Before you can ponder the question, you are contacted by Lyna, who informs you that the preparations at the Crystarium are complete and bids you make your way to Nabaath Areng. You are to rendezvous with Cassard at Twine, as the merchant can guide you to the site of the Flood as well as ideal locations for the placement of aether transmitters.
*Together with Ryne and Zero, you place transmitters in Amh Araeng at the site of the Flood. As the devices whir to life and begin extracting energy from the nearby crystal, Zero finds herself transfixed by the Light─and abruptly extends her hand in an attempt to draw the Light into herself. The strain of it causes her to faint, but with Ryne's assistance, she succeeds in harnessing the primordial energy. With newfound hope for the Thirteenth, the three of you return to the Crystarium.
*The time is come for you to return to the Source. To that end, Zero leaves to have Beq Lugg transfer her back into the spirit vessel. You can but hope that the brands keeping Golbez and Zeromus at bay have held in your absence...

Dialogue
Optional Dialogue
Ryne: When I tended to the people after Vauthry fled, I wasn't sure how much of a difference it would make. It's a relief to see so many that I treated are alive and well.

Chai-Nuzz: My thanks again for your consideration, [Forename]. The rest, you may leave to us.

Wrenden: We appreciate the Crystarium's concern for the welfare of our people. May we continue to strengthen the ties between our two cities.

Dulia-Chai: Brief though it was, it was wonderful to see you. Do visit again soon─hopefully when the fate of a world isn't weighing on your mind.

Accepting the quest
Zero: If we have no further business here, let's move on. Where to next?
Ryne: Slitherbough, the home of the Night's Blessed in the Rak'tika Greatwood. We'll explain the situation to their leader, Runar.

Optional Dialogue
Zero: Little wonder those who revere Darkness would gather here. Yet dark as this wood may seem, it is a blazing torch next to the void.

Ryne: I've not visited here in some time, but it's much as I remember. Which is good.

Speak with Runar in Slitherborough. (Cutscene)
Runar: [Forename]! You're a sight for sore eyes, my friend. Will you be staying long in Slitherbough?
Runar: Though having said that, I suspect this isn't just a social call...

What will you say?
> A great plan is in motion, and the Night's Blessed deserve to know...
Runar: Hmm, when you put it that way... Very well. On behalf of my people, I would hear what you have to say.
> We need to speak with you as leader of the Night's Blessed. It's important.
Runar: Ah, so it is more of a formal visit. That's fine. Why don't we get right to it, then?

Runar: What? Your world─Master Matoya's world─is in grave danger!?
Zero: Master Matoya...?
Ryne: (Y'shtola. She took another name in accordance with custom when she lived among the Night's Blessed. They believe Light taints everything that it touches─even their true names. Out of respect, don't speak hers here.)
Runar: You are Zero, yes? The one come from a world consumed by Darkness. I struggle to conceive of such a place...
Zero: A pitch-black pall shrouds the sky, which neither the light of the sun nor the stars can pierce. It is the opposite of what you once knew here in Norvrandt.
Zero: That being the case, I'm sure you can relate to our situation.
Runar: All too well. You have my deepest sympathies.
Runar: And in order to beat back the Darkness in your world, you would harness Light from ours...
Runar: 'Tis a simple yet brilliant idea! Only Master Matoya could have conceived of such.
Runar: That Norvrandt is still in her thoughts... That we are still...
Zero: So...you're not opposed to our plan?
Runar: We Night's Blessed may place our faith in the Dark, but we have never sought to force our beliefs upon others.
Runar: If your deliverance lies in Light, then by all means avail yourselves of it.
Zero: I'm surprised. From what I was told of your people, I was certain you would disapprove of our methods.
Runar: Do not mistake our reverence for Darkness as a desire for it to be ascendant. Rather, in Darkness there is a peace that we seek to make our own through prayer and self-reflection.
Runar: And while Light may have wrought suffering in our world, anything in excess can be harmful. Even Darkness, as you and yours know all too well.
Runar: It is the wielder who is righteous or evil─not the weapon. If you would wield Light for a noble cause, then who are we to deny you?
Runar: ...An easy thing for me to say now that night has been restored to our world, perhaps. Nevertheless.
Runar: I wish you the best in your fight, Zero. May light shine your way in the darkness.
Runar: Now then! To mark this joyous occasion, I must offer you a proper welcome to Slitherbough.
Ryne: You might find this interesting, Zero.
Zero: If you say so.
Runar: Right, let us begin with the customary greeting.
Runar: [Forename], I trust you remember how to announce yourself as a friend of the Blessed?

<blockquote>With the chat mode in Say, enter “allin tuta” to offer Runar a traditional greeting.</blockquote>

Optional Dialogue
Zero: This is a watchword, I take it.

Ryne: Our first visit here was nerve-racking but exciting. I'll never forget how the villagers warmed to me when I spoke the words.

Runar: Don't tell me you've forgotten the words. What would Master Matoya think?

With the chat mode in Say, enter "allin tuta" to greet Runar.
Runar: Friends old and new, I bid you welcome to Slitherbough.
Zero: Allin tuta... What does it mean?
Runar: In the language of Ronka, it is one of several ways one might say “good evening.” This greeting allows us to quickly discern friend from foe.
Runar: A simple expression, but in a world bereft of night, the words held deep meaning.
Runar: They were a reminder of the world as it was, when the sun and the moon and the stars yet danced across the sky, and we wished one another well as the day gave way to night.
Zero: A communal tradition. So the words serve to bind us.
Runar: Indeed. We are no longer strangers, you and I. Next, we shall have you cleansed of Light's impurities. Present yourself to Davith in yonder room. He will be glad to assist you.

Optional Dialogue
Zero: No sooner had I greeted this Davith than he poured a pot of water over me. I wasn't expecting a literal cleansing...

Ryne: It's nice to guide a new friend through the same experiences, isn't it?

Runar: I'm reminded of when you first came to us. When Master Matoya was still here...
Runar: Ah, but don't let me keep you. Go on and join your friends.

Speak with Davith.
Davith: There you are. Your friend has just been cleansed.
Davith: How do you feel?
Zero: Wet, but otherwise no different.
Davith: Hahaha, I would've been surprised if you'd said otherwise. Even so, it is customary to cleanse ourselves of Light with water blessed by our priests.
Zero: But you have Darkness again, do you not? Why continue the custom?

This line changes depending on the current ingame time:
Davith: Why, for the same reason that it was conceived: to pray for the safety of friends and visitors alike. As we pray for yours this morn/day/eve.

Davith: Safe travels, friend, and may blessed shadow keep you.
Zero: Right... If that's all, let's return to Runar and see if there's any other customs I must observe.
Ryne: Come on, [Forename].

Optional Dialogue
Ryne: The memories of those I've met and the bonds we've forged will always be a part of me. She may find these moments strange now, but one day she'll look back on them fondly...

Runar: How does Zero like our welcoming customs, I wonder.

Davith: Though we call it a ritual, it's not exactly unusual or elaborate. I hope your friend's disappointment is not due to her expectations.

Speak with Zero. (Cutscene)
Zero: I've undertaken the ritual.
Zero: And...while I can't explain it, I feel more confident than I did before. Just a touch...
Runar: I'm glad to hear it. With the Warrior of Darkness at your side, I've no doubt that you will save your two worlds.
Zero: If we can defeat Zeromus, then aye, the Source would be safe.
Zero: But nothing would change for my own world. There would just be one less voidsent to struggle over scraps with the rest.
Runar: Is that so? Forgive me, I spoke out of turn...
Zero: It's fine. I was under no illusion.
Zero: I wish it were different, of course...
Lyna: [Forename], can you hear me? Have you met with the people of Eulmore and Rak'tika?
Lyna: Excellent. Then we may proceed to the next phase of the plan without worry.
Lyna: Beq Lugg has informed me that the tower is ready, so make for Nabaath Areng at your leisure.
Lyna: I've arranged for you to rendezvous with Cassard en route as well.
Lyna: Not only can he take you to the site of the Flood, but he will also know where best to place the transmitters, given his familiarity with the route between the Crystarium and Amh Araeng.
Lyna: He will be in Twine on business shortly, so I've asked him to wait for you there.
Ryne: It's all coming together. To Twine, then!

Optional Dialogue
Runar: Zero's pessimism notwithstanding, we will pray for her world. Take care, my friend...and tell Master Matoya that she is ever in our hearts.

Davith: I'm pleased to hear that Zero found the cleansing ritual rewarding, if only a little.

Speak with Cassard at Twine. (Cutscene)
Cassard: Your timing couldn't be better, [Forename]. I've just finished up my business here.
Cassard: Lyna has told me all. It would be my pleasure to take you to Nabaath Areng.
Cassard: ...As soon as the other helpers arrive, that is. They're supposed to be along any moment now.
???: [Forename]! It really is you!
Ghen Gen: We understand you are faced with quite a predicament. And when an esteemed customer is in need, the merchants of Mord Souq are eager to provide!
Crystarium Guard: The captain bade us assist you, miss. To ensure that Light is delivered to the Crystarium.
Crystarium Guard: Members of our guard will place transmitters in Lakeland, and the good people of Mord Souq will do likewise in the Hills of Amber. You need but focus on your own task in Nabaath Areng.
Zero: Yet more people clamoring to help you. It'd almost be more surprising if they hadn't shown up.
Cassard: If everyone is ready, then let's get to work!
???: Wait!
Magnus: You're heading to Nabaath Areng and didn't think to call on us?
Thaffe: While most of our Talos are still in a sorry state, we've spared no effort in maintaining the trolley.
Jeryk: We've even upgraded it, as a matter of fact! It's faster than ever and can deliver you to Nabaath Areng in no time at all!
Magnus: After everything you've done for us, we can't just stand idly by. Thancred would never let us hear the end of it.
Ryne: Thank you. Thank you all so much.
Zero: I daresay we have ample help. Come, let's go and acquire our Light.

Voiced cutscene
Zero: So this is the Flood of Light...
Zero: I don't remember much of the time when Darkness consumed the Thirteenth. Just the cold and the emptiness...
Ryne: Zero? Are you all right?
Zero: ...Aye. I'm fine.
Zero: You're the one who stopped this?
Ryne: Oh, no no. That was the first Oracle of Light, Minfilia. She's since left us, but I inherited her power and legacy.
Zero: I see...
Zero: Let's get started then, shall we?

Ryne: The other transmitters are set. Whenever you're ready.
Zero: Such radiant Light...
Zero: It's almost too much for one steeped in Darkness like me...

(Jullus' Voice:)
Whatever may have happened in the past, you're still here, Zero. Alive.

What you couldn't do yesterday, you might still do today.

Zero: If this power were mine to wield...
Zero: I will not succumb... Not to Darkness...nor to Light!
Ryne: Zero!
Ryne: She's...taken Light into herself!
Ryne: Her body struggles to contain it. She needs help.
Ryne: Thank goodness... How do you feel?
Zero: Better now, I think.
Ryne: Then you're very, very lucky. Whatever possessed you to do that?
Zero: I had to know if I could command the Light. If I could change my fate.
Zero: Once, I would never have dared to dream it.
Zero: But your friendship and your trust has helped me to see new possibilities. In myself and everything else.
Zero: Perhaps that's why, when I beheld this world once damned yet saved, I saw the potential for mine to be saved as well.
Zero: To become a world where Light and Darkness are in harmony, and life flourishes. A world where we're not consumed by insatiable hunger, but filled with hope for what we might create together.
Zero: If I had the strength, perhaps I could make such a dream reality. Perhaps I could awaken us from this endless nightmare.
Zero: That's what possessed me...
Ryne: If that's your heartfelt desire, then you mustn't be afraid to share it.
Ryne: There was a time when I lacked the courage. To voice my desires was to burden those I love...or so I convinced myself.
Ryne: But then I met those who believed in me. They helped me to believe in myself and find the strength to live.
Ryne: And so long as I'm alive, I know that I'll be fine. No matter how dire things seem. No matter where I am.
Ryne: To be able to think that brought me peace, and it's a blessing I owe entirely to my friends.
Zero: Those who believe in us...
Zero: I will remember your words. I know all too well that there's a limit to what we can achieve alone.
Ryne: As a friend, I'd like to help you fulfill your dream.
Ryne: If you wish to take in more Light, I can keep the power in check and help your body accept it.

What will you say?
> If anyone can do it, it'd be Ryne.
Zero: So it would seem.
> It worked well enough for me.
Zero: Ah, yes. You mentioned having to absorb Light. That you still live is proof of her ability.
> With the power of Light and Dark, you'll be unstoppable!
Zero: I certainly hope so.

Zero: Right, then. I'm counting on you.
Zero: Here I go.
Zero: I can feel it. The Light's warmth welling within me.
Ryne: Then I believe it worked.
Zero: With this power, I will return to the void and fight─for the world that once was, and for those I hold dear!
Voiced cutscene end

Optional Dialogue
Ryne: Though I've only known Zero for a short while, I feel as though her struggle is my own. For her sake, and her world's, we must succeed!

Speak with Zero.
Zero: We've done our part, and I trust that the others will see the Light to our destination.
Zero: It's time we returned to the Source. I shall seek out Beq Lugg and have them return my soul to the spirit vessel.
Steps
*Speak with Hayabusa.

*Pluck arrowheads 0/3.

*Present the arrowheads to Hayabusa.

*Report to Fukudo.

Journal
*Fukudo has thought long and hard about this.

*Fukudo states that he thinks Kurobana might be suited to plucking weeds from paddy fields. He also explains that “Namai” is actually a local term for the arrowhead: an aquatic plant often found in paddies. You accompany Kurobana to go and talk with Hayabusa, a friend of Fukudo's, and ask if he will let you clear his paddy fields of weeds.

*Hayabusa is delighted by the offer of help and quickly assigns you and Kurobana areas to work on. While the original plan was for only Kurobana to tend the paddies, you are convinced to join him as it is a good chance to experience the local culture. Dusting off your hands, you prepare to rip out some weeds.

*Hayabusa praises both you and Kurobana for a job well done. However, just as Kurobana is starting to believe he may have finally found a way to contribute to Namai, he mentions that Hayabusa's paddies smelled somewhat odd. The rice farmer takes great offense at this remark, making it clear that he would like Kurobana to leave immediately.

*Fukudo is disappointed to learn that Kurobana has failed to succeed, despite being able to handle the work itself.

*Kurobana reiterates that he meant no harm and that Hayabusa's paddies genuinely gave off a strange smell. Fukudo accepts that Kurobana bore no ill will and says he will apologize on the boy's behalf.

Dialogue
(Optional)
Kurobana: I will not fail this time. I cannot.

Accepting the quest
Fukudo: I have come to the conclusion that Kurobana might be best suited to plucking weeds from the paddy fields.
Fukudo: Our village name is actually a local term for the arrowhead, an aquatic plant that infests paddy fields if not kept under control.
Fukudo: This is precisely why removing weeds is such an important part of rice farming. I do hope you are up to this task, Kurobana. If you fail this time, do not expect to have another chance to prove yourself.
Fukudo: I trust you understand the importance of the task?

Kurobana: Do not worry, Fukudo. Weed plucking actually sounds quite nice! I have always enjoyed little odd jobs like that.

Fukudo: I recall Hayabusa mentioning he was looking for help tending to his paddy fields. Ask if he will allow you to remove the weeds from his paddies.
Fukudo: [Forename], please accompany him and make sure that he does as I have asked.

(Optional)
Kurobana: I have always enjoyed little odd jobs like plucking weeds.

Speaking with Hayabusa
Hayabusa: Ah, you must be the adventurer I have heard so much about. And Kurobana, nice to see you as well. Is there something you would ask of me?
Hayabusa: How kind of you to offer!
Hayabusa: You can never be too careful with these pesky arrowheads.
Hayabusa: Be sure to take care not to trample any of the rice plants when you are removing the weeds.
Hayabusa: Why don't you help Kurobana with the work, adventurer? Not many travelers have the chance to experience such a core part of life in Namai.

< What will you say? >
< Of course I'll help! I've done this before. >
< You grasp the weed's stem before pulling, right? >

< Of course I'll help! I've done this before. >
Hayabusa: This is truly not your first time? Very impressive.

< You grasp the weed's stem before pulling, right? >
Hayabusa: Precisely! Do not simply remove the top of the weed—you must remove the roots as well.

(Both)
Hayabusa: Well, there is nothing more for me to tell you both. Please work the paddies on top of this hill for me.

(Optional)
Kurobana: I think this may be the job for me, [Forename]! Just watch, these paddies will be free of weeds by the time I am done.

Presenting the arrowheads to Hayabusa
Hayabusa: Finished already?
<Hand Over Arrowhead>
Cutscene
Hayabusa: Fine work indeed! I see you made sure to remove the entire weed, including its roots.

Kurobana: I also had Hayabusa check my work and it seems like I have finally found a job I can do.
Kurobana: However, something did bother me a bit while I was working. It could be my imagination, but do these paddies not smell a little... odd?

Hayabusa: Odd!? Is your nose quite all right?I tend to these fields daily and have never smelled anything strange.
Hayabusa: Honestly, I cannot fathom how you think it acceptable to criticize my paddies when I have allowed you to work them. Do you make fun of people's children when you are a guest in their homes!?
Hayabusa: Or are you merely moaning because you had to engage in hard labor?
Frankly, it matters not. Be gone with you!

Kurobana: I - I am sorry! I did not mean it as an insult.
Kurobana: Thank you for all you have taught me, Hayabusa. I will leave you at once.
Come along, [Forename], let us go speak with Fukudo.

Optional
Hayabusa: I have never smelled anything remotely strange in all my years tending these paddies!

Kurobana: I was not trying to insult Hayabusa. They did smell different to other paddy fields.

Reporting to Fukudo
Fukudo: Tell me, have we at last found the right job for you?

Kurobana: Well...yes and no.

Fukudo: So you are telling me that whilst the job went well, you managed to accidentally offend Hayabusa with a careless remark?
Fukudo: Would you care to explain why you could not just keep quiet?

Kurobana: It was not my intention to upset him. I was simply surprised by the smell of the paddy fields...

Fukudo: Never mind. Hayabusa is a reasonable gentleman; I am sure he only reacted how he did because of how much effort he puts into his work. I will go and speak with him myself.
