Make sure you've equipped {{item icon|Ehcatl Wristgloves}} before attempting to craft the quest items.

[[Tataramu]] can be found by going up the far western stairs and into the room at (x:25, y:28). He is sitting on a bed, hidden behind a wall partition, so make sure to go far enough into the room to find him.

==Steps==
*Search for a [[Private Clerk|Highwind Skyways clerk]] at the [[Gridania]] [[airship]] landing.
*Speak with the [[Private Clerk|private clerk]] at the [[Observatorium]].
*Find [[Tataramu]].
*Speak with [[Templeton]].
*Place the [[Half-empty Wine Bottle|half-empty wine bottle]] on the sellswords' table.
*Report to [[Tataramu]].
*Rendezvous with [[Tataramu]] outside.
*Speak with [[Sezul Totoloc]] at [[Ehcatl]].

==Journal==
*Desperate to have [[Tataramu]] back at work on the ''Dezul Qualan'', [[Sezul]] has asked that you approach a member of [[Highwind Skyways]] directly. Head to the [[airship]] landing in [[Gridania]], and find a Skyways employee who might know of Tataramu's present whereabouts.

*Despite being summarily dismissed by Chairman [[Tatabaru]]'s [[Private Clerk|private clerk]], you learn that she will soon join the head of Highwind Skyways on a journey to the [[Observatorium]]. Make your own way to the [[Coerthas Central Highlands|Coerthas central highlands]], and question the private clerk once more.

*You manage to pressure the private clerk into revealing that the chairman's son has accompanied them to [[Coerthas]]. Search the residences of the Observatorium and find Tataramu.

*Though you have found Tataramu, it appears that his movements are being monitored by the wine-swilling retainers in the next room. The young man suggests that you consult [[Templeton]], and contrive a method by which Tataramu can escape without risking undue notice. Speak with the Skywinds employee in the Observatorium's crafting facility.

*You speak with Templeton, and the devious craftsman suggests the use of a potent sleeping potion mixed into a half-empty bottle of wine. Take the [[Half-empty Wine Bottle|bottle]] and surreptitiously place it on the table in the room where the mercenary guards are drinking.

*Completely oblivious to your sleight of hand, the retainers begin quaffing the contents of the seemingly innocuous wine bottle. Enter the adjoining chamber and report the progress of the escape plan to Tataramu.

*You report the success of Templeton's plan to an astonished Tataramu. Well aware of his guards' proclivity for drinking, the airship designer deems the sellswords sufficiently insensate to risk a swift dash through the door. Head outside and rendezvous with Tataramu.

*Just as it seems that Tataramu has made good his escape, you are startled by the sudden appearance of Advisor [[Colson]]. Though the aged technician is initially disapproving of Tataramu's actions, he is eventually swayed by the young man's impassioned plea that he be allowed to follow his dreams. Return to [[Ehcatl]] and rejoin Sezul.

*Sezul is overcome with emotion at Tataramu's return. No sooner has the chief mastered his tears and ordered the designer back to work, however, than the [[Ixal]]i chieftain of the nearby logging ground makes an unexpected and unwelcome visit. Cawing with triumph at his discovery of the hidden camp, the exultant chieftain promises an unpleasant fate for the [[Ehcatl Nine]]. Sezul and his crew must now race to complete the ''Dezul Qualan'' before the [[Natalan]] Ixal arrive to destroy all that they have worked to accomplish...

*A thorough scouring of Swiftperch has turned up a [[Crooked Pickaxe|misshapen pickaxe]] of curious make. Could this be a tool left behind by the saltpeter thieves? Present it to Lieutenant Skaetswys in hopes that it sheds light on her inquiry.

*Upon a close examination of the pick, Skaetswys is now convinced that the ambush of the convoy was carried out by a band of [[kobolds]]. Accompany Skaetswys to Camp Overlook and seek out [[Commander Bloeidin]], whose vast knowledge of the tunnel-dwelling beastmen will prove vital in determining a proper course of action.

*Upon your arrival at [[Camp Overlook]], a captive kobold under interrogation by Commander Bloeidin was quick to confess that a notorious order of his kin, the [[789th Order|789th]], were the masterminds behind the saltpeter theft. Exercising due caution, infiltrate their den of villainy and rendezvous once more with Skaetswys.

*No sooner did you arrive at the dig and locate the stolen supplies than did the 789th Order sniff out your presence, surrounding you. The mystery then deepened, however, when the vicious kobolds surrendered their stolen goods with nary a fight. Speak with Skaetswys again, that the two of you might puzzle out exactly what has transpired.

*Thoroughly confused by the kobolds' behavior, Skaetswys nonetheless elects to put off any further pondering until the supplies are safely conveyed to their original destination. Before setting off for Camp Overlook, she encourages you to explore the dig and seek out the leader of the 789th, that you might glean some knowledge of the surprisingly nonconfrontational kobolds.

*The foreman of the 789th, an uninspiring kobold by the name of [[Gi Gu]], sheepishly expresses his remorse for his order's actions, while insisting that they only stooped to common thievery due to extenuating circumstances.
