Introduction
Servers or Worlds are individual instances of Final Fantasy XIV. Servers are located in 4 places on Earth: North America, Europe, Japan, and Oceania. Each region is further divided into Data Centers. Each Data Center has multiple servers.

There are no regional limitations on servers. Anyone can create characters on any of the 4 regions. During Character Creation, players can select the world server of their choice to begin the game on. An indicator by each world in the world list indicates population density, represented by chocobo icons, as low, average, or high. For more information about Preferred Worlds, please refer to the Play Guide entry on population balancing.

Characters cannot be created on servers marked by the developers with "Congested" status, nor on servers where very many players are currently logged on.

To transfer a character from one server to another, player needs to use the World Transfer Service, which costs real world money. This fee is waived only if transferring from a Congested server to a Preferred one, or from any non-New server to a New server. You can check a World's current status on the official world status page. However, players can temporarily visit other servers with the World Visit System and Data Center Travel, which have some restrictions.

Note that Legacy servers are servers that existed before the A Realm Reborn (2.0) relaunch. Each server has an internal ID number that was retrieved from the API via datamining; it is unknown what these IDs are based upon.

There are separate servers for the Chinese and Korean regions, and those versions of the game are totally isolated, run by local subcontracted companies, and incompatible with the international version. If an international player finds themselves in a Chinese or Korean region, a VPN may be needed to connect to the international servers.

Data Center Selection
When logging in for the first time, you will be prompted to select a regional data center. Your choice of data center will determine the Worlds you may choose from after creating your character. Please note that characters are bound to the World and physical data center on which they are created, unless a Home World Transfer Service is purchased from the Mog Station.
* The data center that you connect to can be changed at any time via the Data Center Selection window at the title screen.

1. Select a data center.

If you have previously logged in with a character, the data center of the last character played will be denoted with a ★ symbol.

2. Review the list of data centers and their associated Worlds.

Worlds listed under the data center of the last character played will be highlighted.

The first four worlds on Shadow Data Center entered service on June 11, 2024, but as what are officially referred to as probationary worlds, meaning no characters can be created on them or moved to using the World Transfer System (on the Lodestone, they will be listed as congested from the get-go to reflect this). This was to be a temporary measure to help mitigate any potential server congestion on other data centers during Dawntrail’s release window. As such, the worlds on Shadow DC are be available for the purposes of Data Center Travel. The data center will be shut down on August 27, 2024.
*Defeat Constaint!
*Defeat Solkzagyl!
Journal
*Constaint looks as though he has suffered a tremendous shock.

*Hundred Eyes, friend to both Solkzagyl and Constaint, was attacked by a pack of wolves and gravely injured. Constaint went to see him earlier, only to be sent away and told to fetch you, of all people. Attend the injured man and see what he desires.
*Resigned to his death, Hundred Eyes asks you to dig up Solkzagyl's grave and give what you find to Constaint. As you look down on the dying man, racked with pain and guilt, you briefly consider pressing him for an explanation, but decide against it for now.
*Deep beneath the cold, hard earth, you find not a coffin, but a small chest containing a gallant surcoat. A cry of rage causes you to whirl about, bringing you face-to-face with Constaint, who followed you at a distance. You quickly explain yourself, further confusing the boy. After a moment, he declares that he will have answers from Hundred Eyes and makes for Falcon's Nest.
*Alas, whatever Hundred Eyes's reasons were, they will remain forever unknown. The craftsman succumbed to his injuries in your absence, leaving you and Constaint with no one else to press for answers─save for Papashan, who came to Falcon's Nest out of growing concern for your well-being. Stating simply that he must have words with Constaint, he asks that you meet with him at Lancegate, far to the north, and leaves.
*You find yourself rather unsurprised by the revelation that Solkzagyl lives, as the former captain reveals himself to be the cloaked man who observed you from atop the cliff at Camp Riversmeet. His was a complex and impenetrable plot to push Constaint towards becoming a paladin and seeking Oathkeeper of his own volition. It is not enough to reclaim Oathkeeper, he states. The sword must be won by a worthy paladin, whose soul is so pure and powerful that all others are driven to yield. However, when two souls cannot reconcile─when one cannot establish dominance, there is but one recourse: a duel. A duel to establish who is truly worthy of Oathkeeper. Though a part of him believes it to be utter nonsense, Constaint is unwilling to renounce his oaths after having come so far─and neither are you.
*Though he fights bravely and with conviction, Constaint is clearly no match for you. Yet the true test is yet to come. Jenlyns arrives and accuses Solkzagyl of having already recovered Oathkeeper, and the former captain at last reveals the full extent of his plans: to restore the light of the soul crystal once wielded by the first captain of the Sultansworn. In so doing, Solkzagyl hopes to infuse Oathkeeper with the resplendent light with which it once shone. Donning his armor, he demands that you face him in battle. And so you defeat him as well, establishing dominance over his and Constaint's souls.
*For thirty years, as captain of the Sultansworn, Solkzagyl strove to live up to the example set by the order's founder. For thirty years, he tried to make Oathkeeper shine, as it did for the legendary captains of eld. It did, one day, but only for a fleeting moment─before it was taken from him and he forswore his oaths to reclaim it. Though you are not a true member of the order, he believes that the sword will shine for you. Gingerly taking the sword from his hands, you hold it aloft, and for a moment, the world is bathed in light. In witnessing its resplendence once more, Solkzagyl seems to find a measure of peace.
*The light fades as you hand the sword to Jenlyns, but the captain does not seem to be disappointed. He invites Solkzagyl to return to Ul'dah, and the former captain agrees─though only as a friend and ally, for to leave the order is to leave it forever. Constaint struggles to say good-bye to Solkzagyl, but the paladin corrects him, stating that his business in Falcon's Nest is hardly finished, and they will meet again soon. Jenlyns, Papashan, and Solkzagyl set out for Ul'dah, and you and Constaint head back towards Falcon's Nest. Though he has yet to reconcile his feelings towards Solkzagyl, Constaint still intends to be the best free paladin he can be. He bids you farewell, but not before warning you that, should you cross blades again, he means to win.

Aether Currents are required to unlock the ability to fly on mounts. Each zone released in Heavensward (3.0) has 15 Aether Currents (with the exception of Azys Lla, which only has 5). Players are required to attune to all 15 Aether Currents to unlock flying in that zone. Some Aether Currents are found scatter through the zone (blue->green), others are rewarded by completing Main Scenario Quests and Side Quests (red->yellow). Aether Currents in field look like greenish blobs of wind, players can right click on them to attune. Players can check their attunement progress through the Aether Currents window under Travel in the main menu.
Aether Compass gives you the bearing and distance of the nearest Aether Current upon use. It is used to locate Aether Currents in the field and can be found in your Key Items tab of your bag. If you lose it you can talk to Gibrillont at the Forgotten Knight to get another.
Walkthrough
???
Steps
*Speak with the guidance node and defeat any enemies that appear.

*Speak with the guidance node.

*Use the Duty Finder to enter the Aetherochemical Research Facility.

*Use the Duty Finder to confront Thordan VII in the Singularity Reactor.

*Speak with Alphinaud at Fortemps Manor.

Journal
*The guidance node has been awaiting your arrival at the Flagship with customary patience.

*According to the guidance node, you are but a few steps away from your destination. However, it would seem that intruders have been detected ahead. Follow the node towards the heart of the isle, and be ready to defend yourself.

*You have eliminated the imperial troops and secured the area. Speak with the guidance node to be granted entry to the Aetherochemical Research Facility.

*Having opened the way to the Aetherochemical Research Facility, the guidance node bids you farewell and deactivates for what might very well be another five millennia. After casting a final glance at Gilly's motionless form, you turn your mind to the challenges of the present. Somewhere within, the archbishop and his knights await. Ready yourself for the worst and continue your pursuit.

※The Aetherochemical Research Facility can be accessed via the Duty Finder.

*You have secured the Aetherochemical Research Facility, defeating Lahabrea and Igeyorhm in the process. All that remains is the small matter of confronting the archbishop and his knights.

*While fighting your way through the Aetherochemical Research Facility, you find yourself face to face with Lahabrea and Igeyorhm. In a bid to eliminate you, the Ascians attack as one, but with Hydaelyn's blessing restored, you are more than a match for them. Realizing the battle is lost, Igeyorhm attempts to flee, but before she can make good her escape, you destroy her with a blade of light forged from the Eye's remaining aether. Alas, you are left without the means to strike down Lahabrea. Just when it seems certain that the Ascian will slip through your grasp, the archbishop and his knights arrive, bearing the body of Haldrath...and the Eye's long lost twin. Having summoned the soul of the legendary King Thordan into himself, the archbishop conjures a divine blade using the power of the second Eye, and summarily executes Lahabrea. Judgment passed, the self-proclaimed god king duly turns to leave, but not before issuing you a challenge. Answer it, and put an end to his madness once and for all.

※The Singularity Reactor can be accessed via the Duty Finder.

*You have defeated the archbishop and his knights. Return to Fortemps Manor in Ishgard.

*At the end of a titanic struggle, you triumph over Thordan and his knights, bringing to an end their deranged dream of founding a new world order. Still breathless from your exertions, you look up to see Estinien, who sullenly collects the Eye and its twin. Alas, in so doing, the dragoon falls prey to Nidhogg's lingering influence and is claimed as a vessel for the great wyrm's rage. No sooner has he departed than the facility begins to collapse around you, prompting Midgardsormr to appear once again, and bear you away to safety.

Still reeling from what you have seen, you rejoin your comrades aboard the <i>Excelsior</i>, and are borne back to Ishgard and a hero's welcome. At the airship landing, Midgardsormr addresses Aymeric, and the two speak candidly of the future, their meeting marking the start of the journey towards peace between man and dragon.

Some days later, the Holy See makes its long-awaited return to the Eorzean Alliance in an uplifting ceremony attended by the leaders of all four city-states. A fitting reward for your efforts, no doubt, but one that you wish Haurchefant, Ysayle, and Estinien could have seen... Speak with Alphinaud at Fortemps Manor and hear his thoughts on this momentous occasion.

*Alphinaud is elated that his dream of a unified Eorzea has finally been realized. Though upheaval will invariably accompany the coming changes, he is confident that, with effort, peace and prosperity will follow. Together with your fellow Scions, do your part to see that it is so.
It was always yours &mdash; you had yet to claim it, is all. Keep it close, fellow explorer! This is only the beginning!

*From the Novice Explorer, you gain the key item Windbaud's Travel Log.

*Talk to Valiant Hart.

:Player Name, you've returned! Tell me, have you solved Winebaud's riddle? Where did it lead you? The journal of the explorer himself! I knew I was right to trust in you.
:I have news to share as well, though it is not quite as uplifting. I have deciphered another passage, only to find myself confronted with yet another inscrutable riddle.
:But I'm sure you'll have no trouble with it, given how quickly you deduced the answer to the first one! You'll find my translation next to the message as before.
:I'm counting on you, my puzzle aficionado!

Solve the Explorer's Riddle. (#2)
*Checking Windbaud's Message again gives you your next clue.
*You will get one of three riddles to solve, either "Memenugu knows the steps." (for letters), or "Jahelle knows her sums" (for numbers), or "Isouda knows the truth" (another riddle).

"Memenugu knows the steps."
*Memenugu is in Central Thanalan at (21,25), at the waypoint Fesca's Wash.
He gives you the algorithm to decipher the second coded message. For each letter of the scrambled text, either choose the next letter, or the previous letter in the alphabet, with Z and A wrapping around to each other. Starting with the first letter of the message, the pattern is (next), (next), (previous)&hellip;, as shown below.

:So if I understand you correctly, a riddle on a statue said I know "the steps"? A riddle written by Winebaud? I'm sorry, but I haven't the foggiest what that could mean.
:I swear, famed explorer or not, that old man was a bloody fool when it came to combat. This "step" nonsense reminds me of the time he tried to critique the form of my Elezen associate.
:"Two steps forward, one step back. Over and over again, until the end." Gods, he said it so many times it's been stuck in my head ever since!
She gives you the way to decipher the second coded message. Each two numbers correspond to a letter in the alphabet (01 is A, 02 is B, and so on).

:Hah! Winebaud carved a riddle on a statue... and included my name along with it? I ought to be flattered, but I'm just confused.
:This "sums" nonsense reminds me of all the times he argued with me over his bill. Time and time again I would have to show him the calculations, and when I was finished, he would always apologize in the same queer way:
:"I learned the letters of mathematics, but alas, not the grammar." I don't know why; a simple sorry would have sufficed.
She gives you another riddle to figure out.
:I know “the truth?” That does not sound like something the Winebaud I knew would write.
:He was cantankerous and contrary to a fault. No matter the subject, he would, without fail, hold the exact opposite opinion. Whenever I pointed this out, he would offer the same insufferable retort:
:"The opposite of nonsense is sense."

*Talk to Valiant Hart.

Eh!? You had to do what to trigger the message? I know Winebaud had some skill with magicks, but that beggars belief!</p><p>That curiosity aside, why is he continuing to spout poetry? Bah, never mind. For now, let us focus on the next riddle, which I've just finished translating. It's waiting for you!
*Check Winebaud's Message the for the next clue.

Solve the Explorer's Riddle. (#4)
*You will be given the following phrase.

:If SWORD+SWORD=DAGGER, then return to me with X of X. The master of the markets has my list.
:"X" are replaced with 2 variable letters, see below.

*You will now need to travel to your home nation and talk to one of these NPC's to find out the list.

<table style="border:none;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto;margin-top:1em;margin-bottom:1em;">
<tr>
<th style="background-color:#000000;color:#ffffff;">NPC</th>
<td style="background-color:#e8e8e8;white-space:nowrap;">Parsemontret</td>
<td style="background-color:#e8e8e8;white-space:nowrap;">Old Gridania</td>
<td style="background-color:#e8e8e8;">In the middle of the Markets</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td style="background-color:#e8e8e8;white-space:nowrap;">Seseroga</td>
<td style="background-color:#e8e8e8;white-space:nowrap;">Ul'dah - Steps of Thal</td>
<td style="background-color:#e8e8e8;">In the middle of the Markets</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td style="background-color:#e8e8e8;white-space:nowrap;">Swozblaet</td>
<td style="background-color:#e8e8e8;white-space:nowrap;">Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks</td>
<td style="background-color:#e8e8e8;">In the middle of the Markets</td>
</tr>
</table>

*Once talking to the NPC you will receive the list.

The adventurer returns, asking after a...Winebaud? Yes, I remember now.
He requested my assistance in locating a number of items many years ago.
However, his list lacked sufficient information, and I was unable to proceed.
Fortunately for you, I am loath to dispose of any documents related to business. Now where did I...? Ah, here we are.
:Winebaud's List:
:1 = Pearl
:2 = Fluorite
:3 = Malachite
:4 = Choker
:5 = Sunstone
:6 = Earrings
:7 = Ring
:8 = Bracelet

To be fair, it matters not if it were more detailed. A dead man cannot pay a finder's fee, after all.
*So to work out SWORD+SWORD=DAGGER you have to add two five digit numbers to make a six digit number.
:The highest number you can make is 87,654. So 87,654×2=175,308, which is the max number that Dagger can be. This means that D has to be "1".
:With D as number 1 means that R (1+1 no carried forward) has to be "2"
:With R as number 2 means that E (2+2 no carried forward) has to be "4" etc...
:(Below is the solved puzzle)
:SWORD + SWORD = DAGGER
:78321 + 78321 = 156642
*Using the numbers you can match up the letters with the list to see what item you need.
:Known Combinations.
: G of R = Fluorite Earrings
: G of O = Malachite Earrings
: G of A = Sunstone Earrings
: S of R = Fluorite Ring
: S of O = Malachite Ring
: S of A = Sunstone Ring
: W of R = Fluorite Bracelet
: W of O = Malachite Bracelet
: W of A = Sunstone Bracelet

*With the item equipped check the Winebaud's Message.

*Talk to Valiant Hart.

Solve the Explorer's Riddle. (#4)
*For this you will need to combine the 6 lines of poetry from the last 3 riddles.
:Talk to Valiant Hart and he will read them out one by one.
:The full poem is as follows:

:Clandestine rendezvous leave me breathless and wanting
:Obsession consumes me, a thirst for the taboo
:Perchance we meet in public, be not a beguiler
:Ply me not with honeyed words, and spare me glances alluring
:Ere long this torment must end; together we must be
:Renounce it all I would, but we must be more discreet

:By combining the 1st letters of each sentence you get the word COPPER.
:By combining the last letters of each sentence you get the word GORGET.

*Equip a Copper Gorget and check the ??? behind the statue next to Valiant Hart to complete the quest.
