==General Information==
Labyrinth of the Ancients is the first section of [[Crystal Tower]] released in patch 2.1. It requires a full [[party|raid]] of 24 players.
*Players must have completed the quest [[Primal Awakening]] and the Crystal Tower quest [[A Performance for the Ages]].
*Time Restriction: 120 minutes
*Rewards: 100 [[Allagan Tomestone of Poetics]]
Entrance is obtained by completing [[Legacy of Allag]] and [[Sanding It Down]] pre missions before [[A Performance for the Ages]]

====Bone Dragon====
Bone Dragon is the 1st boss of the Labyrinth of the Ancients. Players will encounter the Dragon when they take the left path from the entrance. Bone Dragon must be killed 3 times before it is finally defeated.

The arena has platforms similar to previous rooms. Poison will occasionally fill all lower areas of the room so be aware of this. The boss will spawn 3 waves of skeleton adds. Each group should stand in a separate side of the room and pull one add to the outside of the room on a platform. Each add must be killed on a separate platform. Once the bone dragon dies, all skeleton adds will respawn and move towards the dragon. If two skeletons were close to each other when they died, they will move too fast to be killed. Each skeleton that reaches the boss will do 1500 unblockable damage to the raid. This phase will repeat once. The second time the dragon comes back to life, he will spawn floating eyes instead. These should be picked up by tanks but dps should focusing on killing boss instead of adds then the dragon will die for good this time.

*Tank the Bone Dragon on the center platform. This allows for an even spread of adds around the room, while minimizing confusion on where to pull the adds as 1 spawns per "path". This will also reduce damage taken by the DPS, as they will spend more time on the raised sections out of the poison.
*Kill skeletons on different platforms, kill skeletons before they reach dragon.
*Pick the floating eyes, leave them with tank only

====Atomos====
The raid will need to divide into their 3 groups: 1 for each path. 2 healers and (preferably) 2 ranged DPS need to stand on the colored platform, (4 people total). If 2 ranged are not available, the OT can stand on the platform instead. The boss does not need to be tanked but will continuously spawn adds. The tanks need to position these adds within range of the DPS on the platforms. The remaining 2 DPS kill the boss.

*4 people stand on each colored platform. They should DPS adds and heal tanks. Turn off tank mode/shield oath when tanking boss, WAR should tank boss while PLD tank adds, otherwise, higher HP tank adds

====Thanatos====
Thanatos is the 3rd boss of the dungeon. Players will encounter the boss when they take the right path from the labyrinth entrance.

Thanatos is a ghostly iron giant that is surrounded by three Magic Pots on the corner of his chamber. The Magic Pots are friendly mobs, and must be protected and healed throughout the fight, as they will enable you to damage the boss. If all three die, then you will be unable to harm the boss and will wipe.

*[[Stoneskin]] and [[Regen]] can be casted on the Magic Pots.

Thanatos is “ghostly” and cannot be harmed ordinarily. At the beginning of the fight, one of the Magic Pots will shoot green lines out to several alliance members, giving them an “Intangible”(?) debuff. The first group to receive buff is always A (note: C pot buff A, A buff B and B buff C). This debuff allows you to deal damage to the boss. A tank with the debuff should pick up the boss immediately, and a tank swap should occur whenever a tank picks up the debuff and the one on the boss loses it. Thanatos does have a cleave, so he should be faced away from the group and the pots -- against the wall halfway between two pots is a good spot.

Anyone not having that debuff should focus on killing the adds that spawn throughout the fight. They will charge the Pots and attack, and occasionally will have a red line connecting them to a pot. Anytime you see this, these adds must be killed immediately. While that red line is active, Thanatos will be pulling the Pot to himself with a giant Holmgang chain -- if he gets it to him, he will kill it pretty fast. Once the adds connected to the Pot die, it can escape back to its safe spot.

This fight progresses fairly straightforwardly from here, just repeating the basic mechanics until he dies or all three Pots die.

Once Thanatos is dead, grab your loot and head for the teleporter to go on to the next path.

*If you're a ghost (invisible), DPS the boss. If you're visible, kill adds. Healers should keep the pots alive

====Allagan Bomb====
Allagan Bomb initially does nothing. Each group takes one of the large sword adds. Those Vassagos WILL NOT aggro anyone automatically, so MT should stand in front of each adds to avoid the boss running to the middle. The boss will periodically spawn balloon adds that need to be killed before they explode (high priority). In addition, a Napalm add may spawn and will have the highest priority to kill. The boss can be damaged once the 3 adds are down.

*MT should stand in front of Vassago before starting fight
*Kill Priority for adds: Napalm first, Balloon second and Sword third.

====King Behemoth====
King Behemoth is the 3rd boss of the labyrinth. Players will encounter Behemoth when they take the center path from the entrance.

Each tower should be covered by one ranged DPS or healer, activating it when it begins to glow; DPS priority is Iron Giant/Moving adds, and then boss. King behemoth will target a few players with a comet (green mark above head). These players need to run to the center and drop the comet to be used later. Adds will continually spawn and attempt to reach the towers. These need to be killed as soon as possible. In addition, an iron giant will spawn that will try to destroy the comets. The giant needs to be killed before all comets are destroyed or you will wipe. When King Behemoth stands up, he is casting meteor. The entire raid needs to drop what they're doing and get behind a comet (put a comet between you and him). Rinse and repeat and the fight is done.

====Phlegethon====
Phlegethon is the final boss of Labyrinth of the Ancients. The boss room is unlocked from defeating the other 3 bosses.

Phlegethon has only 1 big move to watch out for. The fight will start off slow and get you used to the visuals for his AoEs. A short while later, 3 adds will spawn and target a player to stun. Each group should take a position ahead of time (A on the left, B center, C on the right) and kill the closest iron hand add. Once the add is down, each group needs to move to their corresponding circle (3 large circles on the outside of the arena). Doing this will put up a barrier to block his 'Ancient Flare' attack (flare will instantly kill you). Immediately after the flare, an iron golem will spawn for each group and must be picked up quickly by each tank. As the fight progresses the AoEs will become larger and harder to dodge. In addition, I was told that another iron hand will spawn if someone gets hit by the green AoE (confirm?). At 50% he will spawn another 3 iron hands and you need to repeat the above process to live. Once you've completely that, burn him down and enjoy your loot.

*Kill iron hands then have each group stand on one of the circles the adds spawned from.

When first implemented, a player could run the Crystal Tower as many times as desired but could only receive only drop per week. The lockout was eliminated in Patch 2.2.

==What is Experience?==

Experience is the point system that drives the advancement of many aspects of the game, including but not limited to:

# Leveling of combat [[classes]] ([[Disciples of War]] and [[Disciples of Magic]])
# Leveling of [[crafting]]/[[gathering]] classes ([[Disciples of the Hand]] and [[Disciples of the Land]])
# Leveling of combat [[companions]] (specifically the Combat [[Chocobo]] ((Not covered in this guide currently)))

There are many ways in which to earn experience, including but not limited to:

* Killing [[Monsters]]
* Completing [[Leves]]
* Participating in [[FATEs]]
* Completing [[Side Quests]], [[Class Quests]], and [[Main Scenario Quests|Main Storyline quests]]
* Completing [[Challenge Log]]s
* Completing [[Hunting Log]]s
* Completing [[Duty Roulette]]s
* Running [[Palace of the Dead]]

In addition to all of this, there are various ways in which you can boost the amount of experience you get from any of these particular activities! These come in many forms, specifically:

* [[Food]] buffs (Obtained from eating food items)
* Buffs from your [[Free Company]] (Obtained by having "Buff Actions" activated by high-ranking guild members)
* Wearing the [[Friendship Circlet]] (Obtained by recruiting a friend, or being recruited by a friend - and subscribing for at least 30 days)
* Wearing the [[Brand-new Ring]] (Obtained by completing all of the adventure guild trials for a singular role)
* Wearing the [[Ala Mhigan Earrings]] (Obtained by pre-ordering Stormblood)
* Rested EXP (Obtained over time by resting or logging out in 'Sanctuary' areas ((places with Aetheryte Shards)))
* Armory Bonus (All combat classes lower-level than your highest level combat class will have a +100% EXP buff towards applicable activities until level 60, where it decreases to +50%)

In addition, some servers with low populations are designated as "Preferred", providing a passive buff called "The Road to 60" while on any class below level 60. This buff doubles all experience earned AFTER applying the appropriate bonuses.

Below are tables that denote the breakdown and application of the various EXP buffs to EXP-gaining activities in the game:

==Armory Bonus==

The Armory Bonus is additional experience granted to any combat class you have that is NOT your highest level class. From levels 1-59, you receive +100% additional experience for secondary classes that are lower level than your highest level class. At level 60, this bonus decreases to only 50%. The amount of experience granted has nothing to do with the distance in levels from your highest class.

Additionally, the +10% experience from The Heat of Battle II (FC buff) - will stack on top of this buff to provide an additional 10% experience. So the Armory bonus is 110% (armory) + 10% (fc buff) instead of just 100%, while the FC buff is active. This is different from the other bonuses, as they do not receive additional experience from the FC buff.

The Armory Bonus, as previously mentioned - does not apply to non-combat classes such as gatherers & crafters.

Examples:
* Your highest level combat class is 20. You are playing as that class. You receive no armory bonus.
* Your highest level combat class is 20. You are playing as a second combat class that is less than level 20. You are now receiving armory bonus exp.
* Your highest level combat class is 20. You are playing a second combat class that is also level 20. You receive no armory bonus.

==Rested Experience==

Rested EXP is obtained by resting or logging out in a sanctuary--the area around any Aetheryte to which you can attune yourself to return to later. Such sanctuaries include city-States like ([[Gridania]], [[Limsa Lominsa]], [[Ul'dah]], as well as any Aetheryte in the field that you can [[teleport]] to. Sanctuary status is indicated by a crescent moon symbol to the right of your experience bar.

Here's what we know about Rested EXP:
* It increases EXP gain by 50% for applicable activities.

* All activities which benefit from Rested EXP will consume from the same bar
* It takes 4 days to gain the full 1.5 level bars.
* The % of the bar consumed remains the same regardless of level.
**Example: If you have a level 45 [[Dragoon]], and you eat 2 bars worth of level EXP to get up to level 47, and then switch to a level 10 [[Gladiator]], you will still only have 1 bar remaining that will be consumed if you level that Gladiator to level 11.
* If you queue into an instanced dungeon/guildhest while being in a Sanctuary, you will still accrue rested EXP as if you were in that sanctuary. This means that if you have run out of rested EXP but are still in a Sanctuary, you will occasionally still get a rested EXP bonus whenever an amount "tics" into your rested exp bank.

==Challenge Logs & Hunting Logs==

Challenge Logs are "weekly" and reset every Tuesday. These logs provide huge chunks of EXP for players who complete their objectives. You will receive a warning of when you are about to "complete" an objective, in case you want to switch to a different class and have them receive the reward.

Hunting Logs do not reset. They provide 1-time bonuses for completing their objectives, with a 1-time mega-bonus for completing an entire section of the logbook. Currently Hunting Logs are only for levels 1-50. There are no logs for 51-70.

Neither of the Logs benefit from any additional sources of EXP buffs.

==Daily Roulettes==

Roulettes are the largest singular sources of EXP in the game. Participating in a Low-Level Daily Roulette will grant anywhere from 50-90% of a level upon completion (killing the final boss of the random dungeon) while under level 50. This is in addition to the experience obtained from killing the mobs/bosses in these dungeons, and in addition to completing Challenge Logs (which are easier to do in roulettes). The 50-90% range is based on the difference between your current level and the level of the dungeon. If you have been scaled down to a very low-level, you will receive a higher bonus. If you are the same-level or similar to the dungeon you'll receive less of a bonus. This can be done once per day and resets at 8AM PST/PDT.

High-level Roulettes do not reward any experience for monster/boss kills - but will still grant a chunk of bonus EXP upon completion of the dungeon. You can receive this bonus EXP once per day.

Additionally, you may queue for Guildhest Roulettes. These are small "trials" which test basic dungeoneering skills. Upon completion of a Guildhest Roulette, you will receive a large chunk of EXP (not as large as LLDR since it is not as extensive or time consuming). This is about 10-18% of a level. This can be done once per day and resets at 8AM PST/PDT. Further, each time you complete a type of Guildhest for the first time (per class) you will receive additional bonus EXP (one time per class per roulette only).

The following EXP values are granted for successful completion of roulettes for each level. DISCLAIMER: These values may vary based on a number of factors:

* Length of the dungeon
* Difference between your level and the level of the dungeon
* The amount of "new-comers" in the dungeon
* Whether or not you are receiving experience from the mobs or not in the dungeon (such as High-level or MSQ roulettes).

All roles benefit the most by doing the [Leveling], [Trial], and [Main Scenario] roulettes every day. However, due to the discrepancy between queue times for Tanks/Heals vs. DPS - you may find yourself having to skip the [Main Scenario] queue as a DPS. (Correct as of 01DEC16)
