==Introduction==
[[Aether Currents]] are required to unlock the ability to fly on [[mounts]]. Each [[locations|zone]] released in [[Heavensward]] (3.0) and [[Stormblood]] (4.0) has 15 Aether Currents (with the exception of Azys Lla, which only has 5). Players are required to attune to all 15 Aether Currents to unlock flying in that zone. Some Aether Currents are found scattered throughout the zone, others are rewarded by completing [[Main Scenario Quests]] and [[Side Quests]]. Aether Currents in the field look like greenish blobs of wind, players can right click on them to attune. Players can check their attunement progress through the Aether Currents window under Travel in the Main Menu.

==Unlock==
Aether Currents are unlocked after completing the 3.0 [[Main Scenario Quest]] [[Divine Intervention]]. The same quest that awards the player the [[Black Chocobo]] and [[Aether Compass]].

==Aether Compass==
The Aether Compass gives you the bearing and distance to the nearest Aether Current upon use. It is used to locate Aether Currents in the field and can be found in your Key Items tab of your inventory. If you lose it you can talk to [[Gibrillont]] at the Forgotten Knight in [[Ishgard]] or Gaufrid (x14.3, y9.6) in [[Rhalgr's Reach]] to get another.

*Linu Vali is ready to face the Vundu, but first would ask one more favor of an old friend.

*A party of Vundu has been spotted approaching Ok' Zundu, and Linu Vali steels herself to meet them on the field of battle. However, she asks that you present yourself before the Gundu totem pole and perform the /sundropdance before facing the Vundu. By doing so, the ancestors of the Gundu tribe will grant today's warriors the will to achieve victory.

*You perform a thunderous display in front of the Gundu totem pole. The ancestors of the Gundu tribe have answered your entreaty, and granted the brave Vanu Vanu strength for the upcoming battle. Report the news of the ancestors' generosity to Linu Vali.

*Linu Vali is emboldened by the news of her ancestors' blessing, and is ready to confront the Vundu forthwith. After thanking you for everything you have done for the Gundu, she states that today's battle should be left to the Vanu Vanu to settle, and asks that you go to Ok' Zundu to tell Sonu Vanu that the group's preparations are complete.

*Sonu Vanu tells you the Zundu are ready as well, but has one last request of you. You are to stand watch over the battle, so that you may tell the tale of the Zundu and Gundu tribes' last stand should the Vundu emerge victorious. Go to the northeast, where the Vundu have been sighted, wait for the Vanu Vanu to arrive.

*You watch the fateful encounter from above the fields, and see the Vundu come face-to-face with the group of Gundu and Zundu, who respond to the Vundu chieftain's demands with a booming display of their sundrop dance. The Vundu seem unaffected, however, accepting the challenge with their own dance. Succumbing to the Vundu's ferocity, the Gundu and Zundu dancers lose the will to continue. Refusing to leave your allies to their fate, you descend from your position and show the Vundu your own sundrop dance. The Vundu are taken aback by your fury, and the Zundu and Gundu are inspired to match your steps. The renewed power of the sundrop dance strikes fear into the hearts of the Vundu, and they flee back to their village in defeat. With the Gundu and Zundu tribes victorious, they depart into the sunset to celebrate their newfound freedom.

*Serendipity appears to be extremely tired. Perhaps you should inquire why.

*A sleep-deprived Serendipity has tasked you with a very important commission, once again for the merchant Roroton. As an attendee to the sultana's nameday celebration, he wishes to present a gift to Her Majesty. If his gift meets with her favor, he will rise to even greater prominence in Ul'dahn society. You must craft a high-quality black pearl ring, and then you must meld to it a grade three piety materia. When finished, present the ring to Serendipity.

*After Serendipity verifies that you have completed the ring, she summons Roroton to the guild. However, your meeting takes a dramatic turn when Robert bursts in and accuses the merchant of being the Jade Fox. He takes Roroton into custody and departs the guild, though not before seizing your black pearl ring as evidence. Speak with Serendipity and see what she thinks of this unexpected development.

*Serendipity suddenly realizes that Gigi is nowhere to be found, and begs you to help her find him. She recalls that he was muttering something about Pearl Lane, and suggests that you begin the search for the missing mammet there.

*You and Serendipity find Gigi in Pearl Lane, along with Robert and Roroton. Gigi accuses the Sultansworn of being an imposter, a claim which Robert does not deny. His identity revealed, the Jade Fox attempts to hold Roroton hostage, but the merchant and mammet manage to subdue the thief. Observing that Gigi has been severely damaged in the struggle, you heroically attempt to repair him by jamming your ring inside him, despite having absolutely no knowledge of mammet construction and no reason to believe it would make a difference. Inexplicably, your efforts appear to meet with some success, as the mammet reactivates and subsequently states how much it dislikes your most recent creation. Return to the guild and discuss all that has transpired with Serendipity.

*Serendipity explains that your reckless attempt to repair Gigi with your black pearl ring invoked such overwhelming disgust that the mammet, through sheer strength of will, overcame its injuries. She also reveals that Gigi's original name is Mnejing, and that as the first mammet ever built, he served as the basis for all future designs. However, she decides not to divulge this information to the mammet, as it would only serve to inflate his ego even more. Although she appreciates your good intentions, Serendipity politely requests that you not tamper with a mammet's internal mechanisms again-- at least until you have gained a cursory knowledge of their workings.
